You know what we call someone who is never happy and hates something no matter what it does or what evidence is brought to light against their case? A hater, or in your case, a classic crybaby.

they are not required to tell you just because you demand to know. the fact that they chose to stop rto at the last minute should tell you it's pretty serious. this sense of entitlement people have is astounding.

Not more astounding than other people's disapproval of said sense of entitlement. Just a difference of opinion.

Agreed, TastyLaska.  If I went to Wal-Mart yesterday, and they didn't have a copy of "Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs" which released yesterday, most people, and their kids, would want someone's head on a pike.  What people fail to realize is that companies will continue to test the limits of what their customers will tolerate, especially in times of financial recession.  Fifteen years ago it was almost an insult when we called a company and were greeted by an automated telephone system.  Now, we don't just accept it, we expect it.  So, back to the analogy.  While it is unlikely that there would be an actual problem with the film, DVDs and BluRays can have menu issues, after all, it's software just the same.  The biggest difference is that the film industry comparatively has their act together.  You don't see an 8.5" x 11" on the video shelf stating "Take your sniveling nose-miners home, there will be no 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' today.  Don't ask why.  Don't ask when.  You are not entitled to an explanation. We are not obliged to give you an explanation."  Now, let me ask you...What if they did it twice?

the company can do wrong. it has by bothering to inform anyeone about what's going on. from now on they should not announce dlc until it's out so debbie downers don't get all miffed and start crying about how life's not fair. if this was any company in this type of industry, even ones i can't stand, i'd still have the same opinion. you are not owed anything by someone making something that's not even out yet. they said it's delayed due to an issue. all you need to know. you're just mad that you jumped the gun and bought points before the dlc was ready.

Trajan, I understand that you are miffed...but you need to stop being childish. Your posts are also not on-topic and this thread has been warned about that. You deserve the almighty ban hammer.

Yep I agree everyone needs to stay on topic. I myself am tired of having good discussion threads about this topic closed because of this issue. If you don't have anything new and good to contribute to the topic at this time just read it and Iam.

The topic so far: Greywardens.com or whatever had a clock counting down until the RTO release, it was wrong.

The cause of this mess was a bug of some king, we will not be informed what king of bug, and we don't need to be.

It is delayed for an unknown amount of time, and we will be told its coming out, probably the moment it comes out.

Yes we do need to be informed, you are telling me...that you can just tell your customers that it was some massive issue and it is delayed and they will be like "Okay, sounds fine with me." yeah maybe those who don't care but those who do will demand an answer...just like some of us here. Most people would get fired for just saying "It was an issue" not telling the issue and then in no uncertain terms to tell us to shut up.

Get over it, they don't owe you an answer.  They said it was delayed, maybe because they just feel like ruining your day.  Chances are there was a gameplay/performance issue that impacted development and they didn't want to release a junk product.  If they did, everyone would complain that they released a junk product.  They truly can't win with internet posters.  I'm not trying to be a jerk, but the reason is always gameplay/performance/logistical.  They aren't going to delay a product because they don't want to start making money off of it just yet.

If you don't like when software is delayed, simply don't purchase it.  Of course, good luck ever getting games since the vast majority are delayed at least once.

They do owe us an answer! Like I said before...if anyone else in the real world pulled this stunt, they would have no job. My parents deliver for Coke, Pepsi, etc...and if they said "Oh darn! We found an issue" at the last minute, the customers would be like "Okay, what issue and how long will it take" and they just say "An issue, we don't know the time" they'd be like "Don't deliver here ever again" and they would lose their job....if I did that, though my issues are usually adding just like one egg too many in the batter...I atleast tell my customers, I would not have them as customers anymore. I'm not trying to be a jerk either but....real life doesn't work this way. I am sure when someone found this issue they told their boss otherwise there would be no job for that person.
Atleast other companies have told us why there was a delay....but then again...can't always work that way it seems with some companies.

completely different! that's a service being paid for to have a product be delivered. this is an entertainment product not yet released! they're not even in the same ballpark! self entitlement to the fullest.

Regardless of their sneakily making sure that transactions are for points and NOT specific product that they might screw up delivery on, there still is a product/service being paid for. I'm pretty sure that they knew when they left the office on 1/4/2010 that there were issues to hammer out and decided to leave everything up indicating the 1/5/2010. Maybe they hoped they could really press and fix it enough to release. Maybe they were awaiting someone's official say-so to tell them they were delaying it when that was just a formality.

But on 1/5/2010, for much of the day, the website (not the forums, where eager customers don't have a reason to check until they notice a problem) still said it was being delivered 1/5/2010. Many customers (myself included) waited to purchase points until the 1/5/2010 to make sure there was something to spend their points on. Many customers only found out there was no DLC after they spent their money and then saw nothing but their points total show up under Available Content in the game.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: after expecting a stream of revenue to come in over the holidays that never really generated, I'm pretty sure someone was looking bad at Bioware/EA. When you can have someone update the forums lickety-split, but not the customer-facing website for the DLC (one of two pages still has no delay noted and the other just reverted back to "over the holiday season" rather than TBA), I smell a rat who decided to let their customers make an uninformed purchase so they could get the money in their hands now.

Can we please cut it out with post format complaints? Do a little manning up, so that this thread isn't interrupted with posts that add nothing to the discussion. ;)

(in all seriousness, I'll try to trim down any future quoting)

Yes we all know you're pissed, so are we. Nobody likes the delay, nobody is happy with bioware not sharing info about it.

None of the complaints matter if you're still buying the DLC. Money talks.

I received an e-mail from bioware announcing the "Awakening" expansion today. Until one is sent regarding "RtO" then I would not expect to see it released.

I agree with you, Maviarab. I've suggested that Bioware offer a return of the money people spent for the DLC if they want it. Hopefully they will do that for those that do.

It would be nice but then these people did not place a order for the DLC. They bought points end of transaction and BW/EA is under no obligation to give a refund for that purchase when what everyone is upset over is a seperate product.  Not being an ass just giving you the explanation you or they would get if a refund was demanded.

I do hope many in this thread have learned what I did a very very long time ago (I am talking last millienum) and that is not to pay for something untill it can be placed in your hands the same time.

I can be pretty persuasive, Eric. I'm confident enough that Chris will reply to me. I just don't expect it to be any time soon. If only for the fact that he probably has 2000+ hate messages to go through and delete before he gets to me. lol

But even if he doesn't reply, I am sure he will read it, and I have things I know he will at least consider in his content. Much like the DLC, we will just have to wait and see.

They sent an e-mail about RTO right after Thanksgiving Holiday in November so don't expect another one to arrive in your inbox. lol ;)

The points are not going to magically disappear now that they have been bought. When RtO is released they will be sitting there ready to be used. If not having the $5 back is a big deal to some of you maybe you should wait until there is an actual item to buy or perhaps take up a hobby that doesnt cost any money.

Oh and as for the smart ass witty and sarcastic answer regarding buying points.

last week i had the money, I could not guarantee that on the 5th i owuld have the money (you know, some of us see games as a luxuary, we don't all have money falling out of our ass)...so i paid for them knowing that when RtO came out, the points were there ready.

Still my fault and lesson learnt?

i am far from having a lot of money either. i just decided to wait until rto was out before buying points. if you're upset you bought points with nothing to use them for, then yes lesson learned. if you're willing to wait for rto to come out and turn in your points, then there's really no harm done. it's all in perspective. it's not like your points will evaporate in the time it takes for rto to come out. if it bothers you, err on the side of caution and don't buy points. if money is that tight, luxuries can wait.

Maybe they shouldn't of announced two dates, pulled them both...one actually few hours before release with just the state "issue"...If you think I am mad, Fanboy...you are in for a rude rude rude awakening.

So you're either trying to troll, and doing it wrong. Or you're trying to dodge humiliation through humour.

I never realized how terrible the DA:O community was.

The last game I was playing regularly was League of Legends, and I was fairly certain that it safely held the worst gaming community on the internet with its overabundance of teenaged DotA players.

The last 48 have thrown all that into contention. Even BioWare's own official responses are rude, childish, and filled with vitriol. This is the first time I have seen a community's generic pathetic complaints about delayed patches actually break the professionalism of the PR workers right down to the points of 'you act like children, we'll treat you like children'. It's pathetic on both sides that the insigating fools were not promptly banned (not to mention the idiot spammers talking about cake and cookies - spam is no less worthless and harmful than stupidity fueled by self-entitlement).

Seriously disappointing show from BioWare and from the community. I'll be staying off these forums in the future, I think you'd likely find more maturity and professionalism on Dora the Explora forums
