As to the OP, unless some link to some offical timeline/post/date is linked, then this is just obvious trolling.

Read the whole thing, we were talking about wedding cakes...

this is a bit silly. we're all upset about the delay, just in different ways. some of us get angry and some of us just take it in stride because fixing a major problem is preferable to paying for junk. none of us are happy about the delay, including the devs. i think this thread has run its course. we're all just getting mad at each other about something none of us did.

I'm not allowed to delay with my customers....sorry...and yes I would.

Bioware made a product, because they wanted money, and told us what date it would be available. Nobody placed an order for it, they may have gotten bioware points to purchase it, but those can be used on anything. Its like taking money out of the bank and saying it was meant for your meal, but they were out of that specific food item.

hear hear. I don't know how this crap-storm started with dahelia and apparently everyone else, and frankly I really don't care. All i know, slinging mud at each other isn't furthering anyone's understanding of RTO, delay or otherwise. I think it's kinda funny that in one post they're accusing her of trolling and saying things unrealated to the topic, and the next someone's comparing her to an earthworm. Can we stay on point?

Dahelia. I understand everything you've said but there's something to take into account.
Your business functions in an entirely different way than Bioware's business. You work on your customers schedule. The customer tells you when the wedding is and *you* agree to provide your service in a timely manner. Essentially you really have no control over the delivery date aside from not agreeing to help the customer at all because you're already booked.
Bioware on the other hand, does not work on our schedule. We don't decide when they will make something available, they make that decision.
To this end, it is always the prerogative of the schedule-setter to change the schedule. If a Bride called you the night before the wedding and said "I'm sorry something came up and the wedding had to be rescheduled for next month." How would you react?
It's obvious you're very good at your job so it seems likely that you would not demand more details on why the wedding had been postponed.

As for the idea that not giving details about a delay would get someone fired in any industry, I can assure you that you are absolutely incorrect. I used to be in charge of pre-orders at a chain book/music/movie store (just the one store... not the company lol).  I promise you, I swear on every comic book I own, that publishers don't give out details 80% of the time. We were lucky if we even got a warning before the street date. Sergei Lukyanenko's Last Watch got pushed back 7 times (almost a year and a half later than the first announced release date) and we never, ever, got a warning or a reason.

Again, I understand your point but it's not changing anything. Just be patient and Bioware will let us know what's up as soon as they can.

Depends on if she was crying...or sounded angry...I would ask...it takes weeks to even months to create a wedding cake....you do realize this? But no, I would not be angry if they cancelled or delayed on me, but they would be pissed at me if I did, it is the different..I'm the company, they are the customer.

Exactly, so the roles are in reverse here. Do you understand now?

Trolling?i was stating my opinion on the matter read carefully the first post :

I just checked chris priestly profile and he changed his status 2 hours ago to:

" Chris Priestly bears the weigh of both bad and good news"
IMO
the bad news is that return to ostagar will take about a month to be
released and the good news will be that the RtO will be released for
all platform at the same time or they fixed some kind of bug

p.s IMO stands for in my opinion

Okay, let's just calm down here, people. This was a pretty reasonable discussion when I left at around page 10. Now... not so much. Let's get back to discussing things in a civil manner. If there are any more insults thrown around in this thread, I'll just prevent those people from posting rather than shut this down.

Savvy?

Oh, and ease off the gigantic nested quotes as well. I've said this several times now.

Yep weddings and retail sales are two different animals you cant compare those. Even though you are a retail business selling wedding cakes it is not the same as like a gamestop game store or such thing. I have had bioware points since mid november I dont' want a refund. I just want them to quit making up release dates and canceling, and if they give us info give us something more then we found a bug or a glitch when they canceled release twice. If they don't tell us anything at least don't give us another false release date just launch it and send us e-mails saying it's now available.

And because there is something wrong with their product, they deserve as much complaint as is warranted.  If they don't like people complaining, then they shouldn't have acted unprofessionally at all, or at least man up to it.  This lack of of communication, along with the snide comments from the devs as to the decorum of its consumers in regards to that lack of communication, does them no credit.

Something people don't seem to understand: we are not Bioware's friends, and no one -- least of all them -- should make the mistake of thinking so.  We can be friendly perhaps, but we have no geas or obligation of any kind whatsoever to do so.  Any "relationship" that exists between Bioware and its fans is defined solely by us giving them money for stuff that we want to have.  That's it, period.  Beyond that?  We don't need to give them anything at all, least of all the benefit of the doubt.  And we certainly have the right to complain if their end as producers is not being held up.

But the difference being, they NEED it by that date, any later and they're screwed. This is just a stupid DLC for a video game, nobody is going to explode because its not out of time, it won't ruin someones wedding.(I... assume...)

I get the point you're making, I understand it. With most other products I would want and answer too, but this is not the same market you work in.

If you really want the gold kings armor and you have the pc version you can just make a set that gets added to your inventory and spec it out the way you want in the toolset. thats what I did. !!!

P.S. also made the kings shield and two handed sword.

Companies can delay. they do it all the time. How can this be made more clear?

I've seen other people state something similar, and I have to say I find it odd.

Speaking solely for myself, this is the first Bioware game I've ever played and this whole RtO fiasco is giving an absolutely horrid first impression. DAO is awesome, but it seems releasing this single 1-hour (allegedly) DLC is just disaster piled upon disaster. It's been nothing but bad news since they announced it when there's any news at all, and mostly there's just no news.

This is all I personally know of the company: they made a great game, decent DLC's at launch, can't answer questions in threads they start for us to ask questions even if it's just a simple "I can't answer that because it's too spoilerific" or "I don't know the answer to that", and that a 1-hour DLC is beyond their abilities to finish and release given the two delays and muliple "issues" (which could mean anything). Overall, it leaves a very sour taste in my mouth and a very poor impression of the company. The game itself is great, if extremely buggy, but everything else honestly is just not what I would expect from a professional business.

Yes, they told us RtO would be delayed yet again. But then waited till the next day to say there was an "issue". What "issue" exactly is it? Game-breaking bug that was somehow missed until the day before release? Server melt-down? Someone accidently wipe the whole program? An "issue" can be many things, and a little bit of specificity would go a long way to fix the awful first impression they're making with me and I'm sure many others. Though I'm sure they have a strong enough fan base that they really don't care if they make a bad impression on first time customers, it won't do much to increase their fan base if things continue the way they've been going.

Some people don't care why it's delayed, and that's their prerogative. I do. If it's a bug or a server melt-down, it can be fixed presumably. If someone wiped the whole thing accidentally, it can't. Wanting the reason for the delay basically boils down to can you fix it or not, and if you can fix it is it an easy fix or something that's going to take months to straighten out. Not an unreasonable question by any stretch of the imagination.

My .02 for what it's worth.

Sorry for the delay in responding here, but I was out.

That's completely fair, but you've taken my point out of context. What I was referring to was I've seen long-time BioWare customers state they're either not going to buy anything from BioWare again or are having serious second thoughts. BioWare has, IMO, a great track record with their games and I'd have thought it would take more than the delay of RtO (eveni if it was handled less well than people would have liked) to make them jump ship.

As a new customer, all you can do is go by first impressions. If that isn't a good impression, I can understand why you'd hesitate to do business with them again.

To put this in perspective, this particular game has crashed on me more than any other game I've bought in the last 5 years. But I've bought a lot of BioWare games, and been on their forums for a long time. I'm impressed enough with them that I'll still do business, chalking up my issues with this game as an anomaly. We'll see what happens with ME2 and any other games coming down the pipe. If they're all crash-prone as well, then I'll have to take stock of the situation. But as things stand for me, with my experience with BioWare to this point, this isn't enough to make me walk away. They've been great for a long time and they get a lot of leeway from me because of that.
