Good now that that's over lets get back to the daily decapitations of RTO and how we are all so incensed about it being delayed again. ;)

I believe the worst news is that unprofessional manner of the moderators and some of the Bioware people on these boards. I understand they won't like this statement, but please hear me out. Never before have I seen moderators drop themselves to the levels of the trolling masses as I have seen in discussions on this matter.

There is no need for any moderator to being calling out people personally. There is no need for any moderator to tell people to quit whining or what not. These are not professional actions. There are tools at your disposal that should be used with respect and responsibility. If someone is breaking the rules of this board, delete their post or lock the thread without having to lower yourselves to the same level.

I hope this post is not breaking any rules and it is not meant to be antagonizing. I personally love Bioware and the games it produces. But I am getting disturbed by the things I am seeing going on. As professionals and people recognized to have the maturity and sensibility to act as moderators, some of these things simply should not be occurring. It should be easy to understand people are going to be upset. It seems like many are taking these feelings personally which is a bit silly.

I hope this is willing to be looked on seriously and not just thrown under the rug. People are upset and will continue to be until RtO is released. This needs to be accepted. It is no excuse for people to start breaking board rules. These people and instances however should be dealt with respectfully and tastefully. To see moderators engaging in the very things they are condemning is unsettling.

It's obvious it was brought up to rile fans more than be helpful...

Anyway, just wanted to point out that if Bioware did encounter an issue, then it's likely they'd have to get the DLC "certified" again after they fixed it.

So did Bioware ever give us a rough idea of how long it would take to complete RTO? I know I know, so many people are fed up with others demanding how many hours the expansion & DLC will take but I am just curious b/c $5 doesn't seem like it would get us much.I mean Soldier's Peak was only $7 & that was what 25-35 minutes which isn't bad at all but I was just curious if I should be expecting even shorter than that if anyone out there knows?

I was completely satisfied with Soldier's Peak!

If you ever see moderators or BioWare employees behaving in a way you feel inappropriate, you should PM Chris Priestly or Victor Wachter. They'll be able to investigate and do what needs doing, if applicable.

The mods are okay, they have been patient enough to the likes of me since I joined this forum. The mods are people too and not robots with canned answers and replies, or do they? I don't know, anyway like I said they are people too and need to interact with forumers which they deem fit and informative, I just don't really like ending statements like with this icon - err smiley

I believe he is referring to the actions of "Stanley Woo" on the RtO delayed thread.

The thread was out of control, but he personaly called out several users, and even threw in a threat at the close of the thread.

I do stand by Warlord, even with a flame war, and many people spamming, things should have never gotten to that point.

I do agree that it is nice that the moderators here seem more like human beings than moderators. But there is an extent that should be taken to. I thank Kevin Lynch for pointing me where to take the concerns, but it seems more widespread than one instance.

What I have seen lately is an immediate defensive stance of many moderators on the board. Even on issues of the cost of the upcoming expansion, there is an immediate jump to the defensive. I understand the masses do not always see both sides of the story. But, at the same time, to immediately come up swinging with your defense and why your right on any topic shows that there is a lack of listening going on. There needs to be a balance between replies to the community and actually considering their statements. And after all, a professional company should understand sometimes people just need to vent.

I will try my hand at personally raising the issue through the proper channels, but in the meantime I would implore that these ideas be considered. Bioware has such a fiery community because of the amazing games it produces and the following they develop. People want more, and of course will be unhappy when they have to wait. The community needs to try to stay within its bounds, but it is my belief that the show must be placed upon both feet.

I believe this would be highly inadvisable. I do not want to pay for something that is broken and could brake the rest of my game with corrupted saves or what not.

The main problem I believe is the simple fact that release dates were promised and not met. This should have never been done. The current decision to refrain from giving a date to avoid such a mistake again does not remedy the situation as I believe Bioware thinks it does. It is no excuse for the times false release dates were not already given. I do commend them for not giving another date until they are sure. But I think it is irresponsible to suggest that by not giving a new release date until they are sure, somehow remedies the mistakes they have already made. That demonstrates that the mistakes are not being fully acknowledged as they should be.

Last I recall reading (and my memory may be faulty) - and this was some time ago - was that a speed run type of playstyle would likely get through in 20 minutes.

Disclaimer: Please note this is just from memory. I could well be mistaken.

I don't think that's the case. Chris Preistly said this in the locked sticky (responding to someone asking if they have an ETA on RtO):

Not yet. Since many people have (rightly imo) called us out for
promising 2 release dates and missing them we are going to make sure of
the date before we issue it again. As soon as we are sure, we will let
you know, but I havew no eta of when this will be.

Note that he says in his opinion they were rightly called out on missing 2 promised release dates. To me, that indicates they're well aware they made a mistake.

ya, it was stated that if you were to run through it, skipping through cutscenes and conversations, it may take 20 minutes or so. If you take your time, and explore through it fully, prolly over an hour.

I suppose this greatly depends on what you think his "JOB" is.

Moderator-a person given special powers to enforce the rules on an Internet forum or newsgroup.
Was what he did his job? Or did he at some point go too far?

That's up to you, I simply have an opinion. Lets keep it mature.

While that may well and good be true, it still strikes me that it is only stated in a way to justify the mistakes that have been made. I may have not scoured the boards enough, but it would seem very little information is really being given as to why this delay is continuing. I feel like the only detail they want to realease is that statement, so that we can all think to ourselves "oh well they are doing the right thing this time by waiting to give a date so its ok".

I would much rather have some real concrete details, which again I may have missed. I would be fine if these were even vague, so long as they were true. If it was delayed due to game breaking bugs, good job. If it was delayed because something was entirely overlooked until the last minute, there's some problems. Obviously the actual reason right now is just speculation, which I believe frustrates people further. After all, when you have good reasons you usually share them. When your reasons arn't good, you usually leave it to speculation. But who knows, thats just my thoughts.

Regarding the RtO on torrents, I have passed that on for investigation. I'm not sure I'll ever update you with status of what we find, but at least you can be sure we'll look at it.

As far as opinions on how moderators and BioWare employees are interacting with the community, I'll repeat and confirm earlier advice: Please let myself and Chris Priestly know when you have these concerns. I definitely want the community treated respectfully by staff and volunteers alike and will look into these occurrences. It's another thing I might not update you on (it just wouldn't be nice to tell you we chewed out a bunch of people for being mean), but an issue that we take very seriously.

i nearly nodded off reading that, but what you expect the constant pointless posts about rto when you have already been told no news till they are sure and people just carry on crying.
people want it now then patch then these same people will be crying if they lose an item or another bug stops them being able to finish it.(not saying the person who said it would but in general terms)

people cry on forums its what they are for other than problems or info, check any games forum.

Wow...people are still at if after 2 days, huh? That's kind of sad....

I am glad that the threads aren't being closed and people can express their dissatisfaction on here without feeling like they are getting kicked in the face with locked boards, but the aggression towards the moderators is silly.

1) The mods are volunteers, they do not work for Bioware. They are just like everyone else here and I am sure they are not very pleased by what happened either.

2) They have about as much info as you do. And if they hear something about what is up, they get it to you asap. Their computers are not hooked up to the Bioware mainframe. And unless one of them is dating one of the devs, they aren't getting any insider info. About the only difference between what they have at their disposal and what we do, beside the obvious shut up button for people that get out of hand, is a better chance of getting an inbox message answered by Chris and the crew. And even with that I doubt they get a rapid response from them.

So chill out on the mods. They think this sucks too, and they are trying to help with what they know about the situation....which isn't much. They didn't cause the problems with the DLC, they don't deserve the hell for it. And if you are so weak willed that you need to take out your anger on the first person with any authority you see, then you deserve to get banned. They say the thing that separates humans from other animals, such as felines, is our ability to control our emotions and rationally think about the situation at hand. So for all you haters on here, quit being such a big ****....cat.....

I honestly don't find myself bothered by this at all. I'd rather have a major bug fixed in the final version even if it means I have to wait a couple more weeks, or even months. Or, maybe I'm just getting old, since this kind of thing might have irritated me a few years ago.

First off, I would like to say that despite that fact that this particular dlc has been... "Postponed" temporarily, as a
programming/ software tester, I understand why rto has been delayed. They really wish to provide everyone with a dlc that is not only beautiful (and somewhat satisfying, being that I noticed the same ogre that killed both Cailan
and Duncan on the trailer), Bioware wishes to keep as many problems out of the game as possible.

I originally began reading the forum (now locked) where moderator Chris P. stated Return to Ostagar would be delayed. Yes, I read that entire forum. I sympathize with those that were upset and angry. Even with those that now migrated to this one. I didn’t originally didn’t know about the first delay, as I own Dragon Age on PS3. And for those who doubt… Pineapples, Gorillas, Cake Pants and Teagan

Anyway, I hope (as many of you here do) that we all receive Return To Ostagar soon. Someone may begin quoting Dragon 9:31 (I Believe) again. I’m certain that once released, we will all be very satisfied with the final result.

Mr. Melo said that quality was an issue so they postponed it until they were satisfied.
