What I'm worried about is that despite the fact that it was me who raised awareness to RtO on torrents, and my PM's to both moderators and developers (including Victor), not a single one PM'd me back and asked for the proof I had.

I'll just point out that we exchanged a few PMs. The fact that I didn't ask for your 'proof' in no way indicates that I didn't believe you. Nor does it indicate that I didn't actually do a search myself to see if this thing was actually appearing on torrent sites (which I did).

In other words, are they actually investigating it, or telling us they are so we shut up?

Why so quick to assume the worst?

Well, because I PM'd the devs you pointed me to, one of which is posting in this thread, and he, along with everyone else, never asked for proof.

Why does BioWare need to "launch an investigation" into whether it's on torrent sites or not, when if they had PM'd me I could've given them a direct link to one that not only exists but works perfectly.

I wouldn't have given you the link even if you had asked, I was referring to BioWare employees seemingly being uninterested in seeing the torrent.

As to the people questioning whether it's the actual RtO, it's because the installation is DLC-installation, not a mod, and includes everything mentioned in the description including the quests and items/gear.

It's the real deal, whether we like it or not.

thats mean nothing?Probably the "hacker" has uploaded a fake "DA:O dlc file" that has put a virus inside it,changed the description and the dlc name..he probably created it too with the toolset

Yeah and then he used SkyNet to synthesise all the official voice actors to make them say things they've never said before.

You're dumb.

im the dumb? You dont have a single proof and im not talking about a link redirection im talking about an unofficial return to ostagar gameplay screenshot, ask your friend to upload it except if you find it really hard <_<

I'm not getting banned for posting those screenshots, I'm not encouraging piracy, so stop asking.

And yes, you're the dumb.

This is probably the most cheap excuse i have ever heard in my life...No one said to encourage piracy i asked you to tell your friend and not you to upload the picture

As for the other stuff, pirates are a rather sophisticated lot and probably some even believe they are a new age "Robin Hood". For those playing the DLC (which is the unmodified version since that isn't out yet) I'd be worried that these pirates now have a little tunnel into your computer or what have you and you may be in for a nasty surprise later down the line. I think the Sims 3 got jacked before it was out on shelves and the company took a huge hit to otherwise legal sales. There's no better way to sink a battleship than to take the water out from under em.

That's somewhat a pirates goal, to sabotage a companies attempt to keep afloat by offering "free stuff" which may or may not include an added surprise. To combat these pirates, we must help the companies out and buy their legal products so we can continue to enjoy games like DA:O which we consumers provide funds for them to work with. Don yer football helmets and Disney print undies and let's give em what for! Posted Image

ummm wouldnt that be running them aground then? To sink I think you actualy need to be covered by something :)

And can I go commando? Nothing like that breeze when swinging around on ropes and the freedom of movement it gives.

I confess I don't understand your reasoning. Just because they didn't ask you for a link, you're assmuming they're sweeping it under the rug? I think they're quite capable of investigating it themselves. I found torrents for it by performing a simple search. I'm pretty sure they're able to do the same.

'Launching an investigation' didn't mean just to see if it's on torrent sites or not. It also means they're looking into whether it's the real deal and how it got there, what the legal ramifications may be, what they can do about it, and probably many other things I can't think of off the top of my head.

Its my overactive imagination that made it dawn on me. I imagined a cartoonish representation of a battleship holding up a sign saying "gulp!" before dropping to the sea bed.

As for this whole torrent thing.  The dev flat out said they will investigate it and that is more then likely all the information we will get on it. Really what else would you like? Internal spreadsheets and memos of every single thing they have done to combat this? Maybe a youtube vid of them going to a pirates house and kicking him in the sack a la Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?

It sucks if it is true but the fact of the matter is going around "I heard from this person" or "I saw blah blah" is nothing more then here say and rumors. Something these forums are allready burting with and a adult should know better then spreading them. I am not calling anyone a liar what I am saying is if your going to make a statement (like the infamous expansion 15 hours BS) then be prepared to show some evidence or be prepared for many to not believe you. It is the internet after all where everyone is a super smart physically fit sexy beast with multiple PHD's in every subject they speak on. In my case it just happens to be true Posted Image

Since the only real news is going to come through the devs, just click on the BioWare logo under the thread title. That will show you only the dev posts and you won't have to wade through pages of other posts to find an update.

*raises hand*

You assume people who download it would have ever bought it otherwise, and you ignore the thought that perhaps people downloaded it to see if they wanted to purchase the full product.

Considering the horrifying buggy mess that the game turned out to be and the continuing hamstringing of modders for Sims 3, I wouldn't even pirate that mess. Considering this opinion, is the game sales "taking a huge hit" really likely to be caused by pirates? Or perhaps more likely caused by the fact that the game's moddability, a feature that was VERY MUCH loved in the previous two versions by the community, is made TERRIBLY DIFFICULT to "combat piracy"? Could it also be, I don't know, linked to the fact that they want you to pay hundreds of dollars for a handful of extra store content?

How about that thing... what did they call it... Oh yes, the enormous economic recession?

Ooh, or could it even be because it's HORRIBLY BROKEN, even for completely legal game buyers? Just yesterday, I had to comb the internet so I could walk through a friend installing her legally bought expansion to her legally bought game. Which still insisted that she was a Dirty Pirate.

Sure, pirates are to blame for the game's failure! Or, should I say, the insane countermeasures to the so-called threat of piracy making the game nearly unworkable unless you are lucky.

Maybe I'm JUST A TAD cranky because of those hours I spent trying to help out my friend, but... Knee-jerk pirate blaming is laughable at best. Download = Lost Sale is an extreme fallacy. Forget about the bloody pirates, people, and concentrate on making the game good and People Will Buy.

(On this note, I already have the points bought and am just here, praying for a possible release notice...)

Agreed there may have been an issue of some sort although they never did clarify what that issue was. As far as we know what is described as something that would decrease the full enjoyment of the DLC or such I'm paraphrasing could just be that sony was not ready to go for launch and Sony put pressure on them to hold off till all 3 could launch. Who knows for sure I'm just speculating. But it wouldn't be the first time a Bigger company put pressure on a Big company to do things a certain way. ;)

O man and miss all the witty banter that goes on? NEVAH!!!

At this point I kinda would like BW to just put it up for download when it is ready and never say anything about it. No release date no more comments or sneaky little "check out the home page tomorrow" just BAM its out.

Then the people stating that BW does not interact, talk to us, or post can actualy see what that statement means.

Wow, it's a good thing this post isn't dripping with that one thing....what is it called? oh ya, sarcasm! cause if it was, it would seem like a pointless, unrelated rant. Can we keep on point please? Sims 3 and it's rediculous store content has no bearing on RtO's delay.

I agree with Eury here they can just google it themselves. I can't believe you are continuing this rant from yesterday is this a personal crusade for you, or are you just looking for a pat on the back for bringing it to their attention. Whatever you reasons let it go it is their product that they are invested in not you. I'm sure they will check it out and take the appropriate actions. In all fairness it bothers me as much as you that some people are trying to get this product not only ahead of time but for free when we pay for it the honest way. But that is the way it is some will get caught and others wont it is near impossible to catch them all it's the internet.

But i'm sure they will try and I hope Bioware does get the pirates that download I just don't see where bringing this up regulary brings anything constructive to this thread and it's purpose.
