Yet point proven. As soon as an issue comes up that is not fully in praise of Bioware or how the current situation is being handled, there must be a blatant attempt to undermine it. I'm sorry if I am the only one who sees how defensive and suspicious that looks. I refer to many moderators I have seen in many posts when I make the general comments I do. This response to my opinion only serves to strengthen my point.
When you are posting your opinion under the flag of an organization or position of power, there are responsibilities attached to that. I am not sorry for having an opinion and, in my opinion, most of the postings by moderators are simply run of the mill defence of Bioware and brown nosing. That may be very wrong, and I hope it will be considered and looked into, but never before have I seen a board where such actions occur. I am all for moderators being real people and engaging in discussion. I am not for them trying to act as opinion police, picking apart every negative opinion they can find.
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you here. While I agree that there are responsibilities attached to the position of power, I don't agree that it requires we stifle our opinion. And I certainly don't think I'm the 'opinion police' or 'picking apart any negative opinon they can find'. Again, people can have an opinion. That's fine. If people think BioWare dropped the ball on the release of RtO, that's fine. I agree. Hell, Chris Priestly agrees.
But when that opinion turns to an insinuation that the devs are lying, I feel justified in pointing out that's not a fair shake. If you think that's unprofessional, then so be it.
Also to add, those who control this board need to realize a simple fact of human nature. Sometimes people just want to be heard and vent. Sometimes people even know they are likely wrong and exaggerating, but they want to get it out.
And that's why this thread is open and not locked.
To jump on them and try to show them they are wrong for this gives a very poor image. Any other forum I have posted in understandns this and moderators would never engage in such things. Again I am all for correcting people on facts and giving them the proper information, if it is necessary. But to call into question their opinions whenever they oppose Bioware, when most moderators have no more info than these people it would seem, strikes me as irresponsible. Both parties are then discussing the unknown. The difference is, the moderator is posting from a position of power and trying to state that their version of the unknown result is right and more likely than the negatively minded one.
In point of fact, I don't have any more info on this than any other forum member. But I'm not calling into question people's opinions unless they're contravened by the facts or by dev statements. Case in point: many people are of the opinion that Sony pressured BioWare into delaying the release. But Fernando Melo has stated this is not the case. Reference page 3 of
This Interview. Specifically this part:
IGN: Origins has been supported by a large amount of DLC from
launch. The most recent of which, Return to Ostagar, has been delayed
until the end of January at the earliest. Is there any explanation as
to why the delay occurred? Is it solely to release the DLC for all
three platforms at the same time, or was there another issue?
Fernando Melo:No, it has nothing to do with platforms
themselves. It's a quality issue where, literally, at the last minute,
we spotted something that had made it through our own testing, EA's
testing and was at Microsoft already. But it applies to all three
platforms; it wasn't something specific to Microsoft, we just happened
to catch it there first. We probably could have gone with it, but it's
something that was serious enough that we felt it impacted the quality
[of the DLC] and we made the choice to delay it to give our fans the
best experience with it. That was the reason behind [the delay] -- we
want to make sure that we don't cut any corners when we do the DLC.
There's already a lot of content out, there's a lot more coming -- we
just announced the expansion pack, and there's more coming after that.
I think the worst thing we could do after that is do anything "to
poison the well," to use the expression, or put fans off from feeling
that they're getting the best content from us. It's a long term
decision instead of a short term decision.
I make no apologies for correcting someone's opinion in cases such as this.
