Thought I should post this in here, too, since the topic keeps reappearing:

No Topics of an illicit or illegal nature. Warez, software piracy, illegal activites, pornography, posting copyrighted material or scans of such material, etc. are not welcome here and will be removed without warning. Posters of such material will be dealt with on a case by case basis. A person or persons found to discuss such matters may be banned from these forums at the discretion of the staff.

That's from the Site Rules.

I understand that people are upset that there are thieves in the world, but keep the above rule in mind.

The above rule as stated clearly says the topic itself has to be of illegal nature. No one is poting the toreent site links. They are posting clear disgust for Bioware, which I now share, having seen the video and proof it has clearly been leaked.

Bioware NEEDS to make a statement on this and it NEEDS to happen right now. If it is has already been made I apologize. But this is quite ridicolous.

Once again I find myself having to pm Bioware staff as people are threatened for having nothing but valid opinions. People in this community who are following the laws and want to play this legitly are getting more grief than I expect any of the pirates will ever have.

Bioware is fast losing credibility.

Losing credibility? I hardly think so. BioWare hasn't lost credibility because the game has somehow leaked. I, however, am royally pissed because - for whatever reason - I'm not playing something others are playing and, more or less, enjoying. Does this mean that it's BioWare's fault? Not at all. But this means that BioWare should do something to solve the problem, one way or another.

WarlordThor, there's nothing threatening about pointing out a rule that's been part of BioWare forums since they started. You are putting tone into something that's not intended. Keeping the rules in mind when posting should be done by everyone, all the time.

I believe it is there fault that they are not keeping the community from being threatenned for having opinions. I believe it is there fault that they have yet to publicly address the issue and assure us they are working very strongly on this issue. So far we have had one thread reply by Victor Wachter. While I am glad we have at least this, there should be a bit more in my opinion.

The tone was added by the bolding of the lines suggesting the banning of those engaging in the activity. It was not needed. (edit: I even gave the benefeit of the doubt and checked the rules page to make sure its not bolded by deafult. The emphasis was added when it was posted in this forum. Emphasizing the bannning of community members is a veiled threat in my opinion.)

While it would be nice to know why RtO was delayed in the first place, I strongly believe that the more important thing now is to resolve this issue. I'm not saying that they should release RtO today since it has already been leaked, and I'm not asking for a favoritism, but this issue shoudl be addressed and we honest purchasers and hard-core fans of DA:O should be protected as much as we protect BioWare by refusing to illegally download the DLC.

You may disagree, but the emphasis was added to focus attention on the most relevant portion of it. I suppose I should also have bolded the word "warez" to make it apparent that that was what was meant. I apologize for adding tone when none was meant.

I hope Bioware explains what the real reason for this delay is. Apparently it is not a game breaking bug but just a quality issue. Well, those who used the leaked version are not reporting any problems, but it may be too early. I just want to know exactly what this `quality` issue is and why people who are commiting theft are currently able to enjoy the DLC.

I fully agree I do not want to see the dlc released if it bugged. It should be clear the majority of posters here do not condone piracy or want to engage in it. Nor do we want a bad product. The problem comes down solely to communication. We are mostly left in the dark and just waiting while others, who choose to pursue other methods we will not touch, seem to be playing happily without problem. I hope they run into those quality problems and we are not waiting for nothing.

A statement from Bioware would be nice to ensure they are fully pursuing this and to update us on the status of the dlc. I don't care if they give us a release date. Even a "well we've got most of it worked out" is a bit reassuring.

To be honest I feel a bit cheated. I bought my points and now I have to wait while other people are able to play it already.
In my opinion they should release it as fast as possible even if that means that they have to work today.

I certainly agree with the sentiment. This news of today, coupled with a "nice" YouTube video, is the proverbial insult (that some dishonest players are enjoying something we're not) added to injury (that the DLC was delayed). Surely, it happens all the time, I'm sure, but it doesn't make it nice for a person like me that won't download the leaked version no matter what and yet is still eager as hell to finally return to Ostagar.

I understand that there's issues they want to fix. But it's a last minute bug in something which will probably total 1 hour max of new gameplay. How long is this supposed to take?

I repeat I will buy whatever content BioWare released for this game and play them! I'm a huge fan of BW since BG 1. I will not, however, feel bad or angry or disappointed because there are people already playing a DLC that we've been prevented to acquire. I may simply get it and when I'm no longer prevented from acquiring it, show my support to my favourite game devs company by purchasing it through normal means.

And I am not in any way disappointed with any lack of deep detailed information on the real issue that caused the delay. I'm old enough and experienced enough to know that "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,Than are dreamt of in your philosophy"!

And to think that original game was released with so many bugs, so how big exactly is that bug that delays such small content for 4 days now?!?
I almost decided to preorder Awakening, but seeing this kind of treatment no way. If I do buy it it will be when I am sure it is actually released.

I believe the key problem many people are seeing is no reports of problems with the leaked version. Honestly I hope karma gets the people in the butt, but who knows.

Many of us are old enough and experienced enough to have patience. It does not change what is and is not good business practice. After the mistakes already made on this issue, things are just piling up. We know when people hide information or are vague with it, there can be other less savory motives at play. I do not suggest these are the reasons here, but there is not much to say either side is correct right now. We are all just waiting in the dark until an indefinite time.

i almost feel sorry for BW. if they hadn't made great games, they likely wouldn't have survived, but because they did, they get engulfed by EA. the innocence is gone.

I agree. I was quite saddened when they were bought out by EA. They were much better before that in my opinion.

Karma already struck, or did you miss her just blow?

PC version was needlessly delayed -> leaked copy gets released ->BioWare loses out on some small portion of dlc sales.
Seems fair to me, a small but definitive punishment for a small but unavoidable slight.

Haha I meant karma striking those who download the leaked version and use piracy. But I like your reasoning of karma working elsewhere :)

Dude, I doubt karma will bite me anywhere. It has a long list before reaching me, starting with Osama, Bush, Buffet, corrupted people that make illegal money, including pirates that press DVD and CD copies and sell in the streets, wife cheaters and beaters, bankers, top executives that robbed their bonus from gov't money, church people that charges money for a spot in heaven...the guy who burnt that brazilian chick, the whole drug cartel... that should keep Karma busy till the end of times! (orr 2012 for that matter...lol)

People that get files for personal use and are still willing to pay for them, WHEN they can pay for them... I really don't see them on that list.

Like a lot of people on this forum, I paid for RTO weeks ago and like them, I too have suffered through the double release delay. The anger over this issue is understandable.

What has me frustrated is the lack of information:

1) When will RTO be released? It doesn't have to be an exact date, but a ballpark would be nice.
2) Why was RTO delayed? Rumors abound, but nothing is official.

Let me be super clear about something:

Since I prepaid for RTO and Bioware has accepted my money AND taken it from my bank account, I feel as a customer that I am entitled to some answers, just like any other customer who prepays for a product and doesn't have it delivered on time. Telling me to "get lost" does not sit well and has dire future consequences. This isn't a threat, just what normally happens in customer--client relationships. Why would I preorder and prepay for a product that I am not going to recieve? The consequences are that this will hurt Bioware's preorder business if everyone waits to buy. It can be avoided by recognizing that this IS NOT a bunch of whining forum brats, but CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PAID FOR THEIR PRODUCT AND WANT TO KNOW WHERE IT IS. A LITTLE FORUM COMMUNICATION SOLVES THIS PROBLEM.

What increases my anger and frustration is that Bioware has had time to release information about a NEW EXPANSION, but can't seem to find the time to update its current customers about a DLC product they HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR that has been promised twice and delayed.   I imagine that will impact the preordering of Awakening.  I certainly won't order it until this DLC mess has been resolved.  I also don't expect ME 2 to make its release date either.   This kind of behavior has a ripple effect in the minds of customers.

3. It is upsetting that RTO has been illegally released. I am more ticked off about the lack of communication from Bioware as to where RTO is than anything else. Let's face it....the holiday season has come and gone. Chris Priestly's blog, while better than nothing, needs to be updated.

Please Please share with us WHAT IS GOING ON!

As far as this whole torrent thing goes nothing was ever said that it was the PC version that had whatever "issue"  Kind of silly to just assume that all the platforms are perfect just because one is. Even tho PC's tend to have some more bugs due to the wide range of configurations.

People you should really take your rage down a couple notches about wanting to know exactly what that problem was. We my never know and the bottom line is that BW is under no obligation to be totally transparent with us about everything going on. And I do not blame them when you see so many going "I love BW, Loved them for years and years, they make awesome games, but because if this one flub up I no longer trust/like/will buy their stuff anymore"  Its silly to expect perfection from any person, animal, thing, or group.

Owl go check out the Jan 8th '10 thread for updates (stickied top of this forum).

Some of what you are asking is already there, the rest cannot and will not be answered. I'm not sure if you know what console ceritifcation entails but the release date is not in BioWare's hands. If it were we probably would have had RtO a month ago before it had to go through certification the first time (presumably they don't send it to certification without thinking that it is ready for release).
