about warden's keep, i loved it and the special starfang sword that came with it is awesome, so i don't think warden's keep is disappointing at all....

It's kind of like discussing the RTO in an alternative dimension where it was out 5th january as projected. No? Or we're just discussing it in advance? It will be out sooner or later no?

I didn't say i was intending to continue to discuss it did i? i was just wondering why the discussion is not allowed esp since it's good news that it's rated highly and is worth $5 i.e no reason not to buy it.

You do realize that he could be lying through his teeth...right? And it ruins the experience for others and everyone always has a different opinion...so could say it is great and others could say it sucks. It is all the matter of if you play it, not listen to someone else who says they have played it.

Like a lot of people on this forum, I paid for RTO weeks ago and like them, I too have suffered through the double release delay. The anger over this issue is understandable.
What has me frustrated is the lack of information:
1) When will RTO be released? It doesn't have to be an exact date, but a ballpark would be nice.
2) Why was RTO delayed? Rumors abound, but nothing is official.
Let me be super clear about something:
Since I prepaid for RTO and Bioware has accepted my money AND taken it from my bank account, I feel as a customer that I am entitled to some answers, just like any other customer who prepays for a product and doesn't have it delivered on time. Telling me to "get lost" does not sit well and has dire future consequences. This isn't a threat, just what normally happens in customer--client relationships. Why would I preorder and prepay for a product that I am not going to recieve? The consequences are that this will hurt Bioware's preorder business if everyone waits to buy. It can be avoided by recognizing that this IS NOT a bunch of whining forum brats, but CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PAID FOR THEIR PRODUCT AND WANT TO KNOW WHERE IT IS. A LITTLE FORUM COMMUNICATION SOLVES THIS PROBLEM.
What increases my anger and frustration is that Bioware has had time to release information about a NEW EXPANSION, but can't seem to find the time to update its current customers about a DLC product they HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR that has been promised twice and delayed. I imagine that will impact the preordering of Awakening. I certainly won't order it until this DLC mess has been resolved. I also don't expect ME 2 to make its release date either. This kind of behavior has a ripple effect in the minds of customers.
3. It is upsetting that RTO has been illegally released. I am more ticked off about the lack of communication from Bioware as to where RTO is than anything else. Let's face it....the holiday season has come and gone. Chris Priestly's blog, while better than nothing, needs to be updated.
Please Please share with us WHAT IS GOING ON!
Couldnt agree more I'll buy Both ME2 and the expansion but there is no way Im going to preorder _ANYTHING_ from from BioWare anylonger.
I wont Condone this kind of behavior from any company, its simply unprofessional.
Sad part is they could have avoided this whole mess. but alas now all theyre left with are a bunch of very to moderately angry costumers.
I hope theyre doing something about all this, or it might very well have serious effects on their credibility.

Why has anyone felt it was necessary to preorder something which is limitless in supply is always puzzling to me. It's not like u'll have trouble buying a game if u dont preorder it.

Meh, I'll still preorder stuff. Preordering just guarantees you get it on release day. If they delay it, its not like you all of the sudden wont get it the day it actually comes out. Plus, Bioware generally gives you a reason to preorder, like for ME2 you get that armor and heavy weapon, so I'll continue to preorder for special content like that.
The whole pirating of the DLC seems to me at least to somewhat confirm the speculation that they delayed it to do a simultaneous release with the PS3 version, since apparently the PC version is at least playable at the moment.
Anyhow, any new info? Do I need to update my sig?

If points gets locked out you can still buy it. But thats the only reason for DLC.

Not to get argumentative with you or anything, but delays happen. Origins was delayed by 8 months back in March, and the reaction was similar -- and understandable. I know it's frustrating when you want to play something right now, when promised, and I certainly have no illusions that players are (or should be) interested in the business decisions we're forced to make. Delays occur in the development world on a constant basis, and the reaction is always the same from disappointed fans. Be that as it may, I think our credibility is based on delivering a quality product. In the end, I would hope that's worth waiting for.madswm wrote...

Oh it is defo worth waiting for but delays seem to have become standard over the last couple of years. No games release date has any credibility anymore, wether it be bioware or not.

The thing is, we understand delays, but you havent given us a real reason for why it was delayed. Just some vague thing about delivering a better quality product. If the problem wasnt discovered until hours before the release, it couldnt have been THAT big if it wasnt noticed until so late.

Couple of years? Every game I've worked on has had its release pushed back to one degree or another, and it's always met with understandable dismay. The same is true for just about every development house out there, and that's for a lot longer than a couple of years. I think the only time you're going to encounter a game that's released on time the first time it's promised is when you're dealing with a game that hasn't communicated its intention to release until very late... but does that happen? Fact is, both the media and the fans are always clamoring to know, as far in advance as they can, when they can expect their favorite title to come out. It's a catch-22, unfortunately, because while keeping news of your game close to your chest might prevent disappointment it would also result in the same accusations of secrecy and prevent a company from building up excitement over the game to begin with.Few87 wrote...

And that's just a reality of the business. I feel for you guys, but this is nothing new.
I'm not sure what information you're looking for. A long-winded explanation on the exact reasoning behind a business decision isn't going to help you, nor is it particularly appropriate. We've told you what we can, that we're working on it (eagerly) and that you'll get more info on the release as soon as we know more. That's really all we can do.byne wrote...

And speaking of which, I'm going to step back out of this thread before the target on my head becomes too tempting. This isn't an issue I can address anyhow, as DLC is not my province -- I'll leave that to Fernando. Hope you guys enjoy RtO when it comes out. Keep the faith!

I think the main reason this delay upset people so much is because it was only announced a few hours before the stated release date. Usually when games are delayed you'll hear about it like a month before.

Here's the point. Bioware is a huge company. They wouldn't do something of this nature without giving it due thought and process. The problem was obviously big enough that they felt it warranted to pull the product, and risk damaging their reputation and consumer base. I think if they've judged it to be a problem large enough to detract from the overall quality of the content, one worthy of delaying the release, we should stand behind their decision, as it will be a better game for it.

They did, you just decided it wasnt good enough. They are not reqiured to lay out specifics to a bunch of forumites.

I think people would be a lot less annoyed if they knew precisely why they can't get the product they've paid for, when people who haven't paid for it are already playing it. In reference to the earlier (pre 5th Jan) delay, it seems odd that a critical bug would be discovered so late on, when RtO was almost ready for release - so it seems to follow that the hold-up was over something small. Players like me who aren't technically literate can find it hard to understand how a small issue can cause such a long delay, even taking into account the need for a QC stamp from Sony and Xbox.
Christmas holidays with almost everyone, everywhere being away from work presumably helped push back the RtO release.

This response exemplifies what Biowares problem is. In essence it says, "We understand that our customers are frustrated by delayed products and lack of communication because we have done it before, but our past experience has shown that it doesn't really matter as long as we release a good product."
A more appropriate and customer minded attitude would be: "We need to get better at communicating to our customer base, by being more efficient at determining what information we should or should not share, such as release dates, and in this way avoid frustrating them to begin with. As a result, we won't have to rely on our product quality to wash away the bad taste in the mouth of our consumers due to our failure to communicate effectively."
Circumstances are all to often beyond control in software, and one day Bioware may find itself with a product released into the wild that does not go over as well as expected. With the road they are on now, I suspect that on that day they will find an audience that is not very forgiving.
