And by being such a large company they should have realized a long time ago that announcing ANY release date will potentially lead to needless customer frustration that is completely unnecessary and avoidable.

The only way to avoid said frustrations, and what is the only plan of action suggested by your statement, is to set no release date what-so-ever. Do you really think it would be less frustrating if Bioware's big ad campaign was "Return to Ostagar: coming out sometime, but we're not going to say when, because if you know you may become slightly annoyed at some point in the future." Seems a little wordy in my opinion.

Hey if you believe that they didn't know they weren't getting it out during the holiday season until after it was over and that they didn't know they weren't getting it out for January 5th until hours before it, more power to you. I envy your ability to just believe what you're told since it must make everything much simpler. My critical thinking skills on the other hand make it impossible for me to believe either of those things. Not ranting and raving about it, I just know a line of bovine fecal matter when I see it.

Yep, and while we're at it, let's throw some of the blame on the players as a diversionary tactic and say it's partly because we wanted to oblige the players who wanted an achievement medal for playing it.  That way they will attack each other (Casts Blood Control) and not us.  Well guess what...RESISTED.

Wordy, yes. It's definitely amusing though.

I did not know that critical thinking involved making judgements based on evidence you do not have and can not show.  Show us the evidence that they had more time to make a announcment then they did. I would love to see it but untill then it is purley you speculating and assuming that they waited till the last minute to make a annoucement when they knew a long time in advance that they could not meet the date they set.
I find it odd that a company that has more interaction with there customers then most every other one out there, that dev after dev states they want to do good by us, would willingly make such a decision that they knew would ****** people off way more and hurt their image more so then to do it in whatever you consider "a timely manner".

Why not?  At this point, that's what they have done, isn't it?  They weren't so wordy, though, it was either "Coming Soon" or "It will be done when it's done."

Not to beat a dead horse, but Blizzard doesn't give release dates for exactly that reason.  I'd love to know when Diablo III is coming out, but you just go find a release date on their site.

You might think otherwise by previous statements but I have not ruled out that there was something else going on but we have nothing to support that claim. I have only based my opnion on what I have seen and read.
You might find it a contradiction but I do not just blindly believe any and everything someone tells me (or I would be in the "OMG THE EXPANSION IS ONLY 15 HOURS RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE" crowd) but I do hold on to some faith in humanity that there are still good people out there trying treat others like they would be treated themselves. (no I follow no religious but then the golden rule/karma is something that you do not need to be religous to believe in)

Indeed, it is a folly of religious people to believe non-religious people are incapable of good.

I was once told that even though i dont believe in god, i apparently only do good things out of fear that he will smite me. Was weird.

That's exactly my point, though. They've got to options. #1) Set no release date. This leads to exactly what's happening now, with everyone frustrated, on the boards raising hell, asking when it'll be out. Or #2) Set a release date. Worst case scenario, what happened happens, same results as #1. Best case, however, everything goes to plan, the content is released, and no one has to deal the the frustration of not knowing. Given the two choices, I pick number 2. At least it has a chance of avoiding these problems.

Well, to be fair, Blizz did exactly this same kinda thing with Burning Crusade. The announced it'd be out in late November, to drum up their sales by getting people to preorder it as a Christmas gift, then delayed it till about a month after Christmas. So Blizz is guilty too.

I have a hard time believing all of the people claiming they'll boycott Bioware for life. Bioware does one thing, and they do one thing well. They make increaidle RPGs. We all bought DA:O, I'm sure we'll all end up with ME:2 at some point or another.

and just for the record

<~~ Not Super WoW nerd. Had a few 69's myself. lol terrible joke, but all too easy

Well whenever it decides to be released officially by Ea/BW, i have 400points waiting. In the meantime, my waffles, a 9 by the way, will suffice and ill continue to play a very well put together game.

Why should Bioware worry, you don't have Dao registered in the first place or is this just your troll account?

Same but then again I have not for a very very long time ever trusted any release date.  I alos try not to set my expectations high for anything so I can keep a objective eye when I get what I have been waiting for.
I had a feiend taht for whatever odd reason expected the G.I. Joe movie to redefine action movies. Needless to say he was sorely upset. Me I enjoyed for what it was a cheesy action movie based on a childrens cartoon that was solely ment to push a toy line.
Seems there are those out there that expect BW to reinvent the wheel with every new release. It is hard to top near perfection IMHO but it is just that my opnion and like momma addict used to say "they are like ****s everyone has one and no one wants to hear it"

Some of you folks have the patience of five year olds! What's the big deal? There's a problem, they have to fix it, and they hope it will be ready for the end of January. OMG, the sky is falling!

You know, it's kind of a corny analogy, but in the Star Trek TNG episode 'Relics', Lieutenant Commander Montgomery Scott advises Lieutenant Geordi LaForge regarding setting deadlines for completing a job.  He said something to the effect of "If it takes you an hour, you tell the Capitan it will take you two...that way when you get it done in an hour, you're the hero."

Just my $.02

Did you know clouds taste like waffles? I did not untill 2 days ago. My super ladder is well on its way to completion and while your all sitting in the dark writing angry things about how RtO did not have enough "insert whatever complaint here" I will be sitting in the clouds eating free fluffy sky waffles MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

 Funny, I recently used that same line at work (to explain why I wanted a couple days to complete a project but then got it done in half the time) and got myself some chuckles/funny looks out of people (quoting TNG isn't popular I guess). It is so true and very applicable to this situation.

Unfortunately, they'd probably get all kind of flack for releasing early, too. You know, people have plans and all.

Like everyone that got upset because there were DLC's available one day one? Or the ones that were pitching a fit when they announced RtO and said that BW was bringing too much out to fast?
It blows my mind what some find offesive or bad but then to each their own.

Oh and it is hard toimprove on the original but http://latimesblogs....9bf02970b-500wi I think he pulled it off.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but i'm quite certain it isn't in me to read through 58 pages. On the 20th the site is going under maintenance so it could be out around then.

Any official news on RtO?
