While I wouldn't say that RtO would be the DLC that makes or breaks people's willingness and confidence in buy such content, its definitely shaping up to be 'getting it right the first time' scenario. Better to have a well polished and relatively bug free product with the first offering than have a multitude of people creating bad publicity for a burgeoning market.

Bad publicity? It has already happened, there are other forums out there with many people complaining and even comparing this to the hype and failure of Aion...

I was one of those that supported AION, was in beta, pre-ordered but it became a big disapointment due to all the hype. It ended up not being what it said it was going to be. This is the same in the fact that this is the third delay for RTO. We, the customers, deserve a Honest Answer not some lame excuse. This should be completed by now:(

I know, I played Aion, pre-ordered, was in the beta..I even defended Aion for a long time, then I gave up...there was just no point. It is not the delays that anger me...it is the very point...hours before RTO was to be released it was almost like "Oh....sorry screw you guys..." because there was suddenly this bug that no one will tell us about...we aren't stupid(maybe some of us), I may act like a fool, I love to joke and have fun, lighten the mood, but I am far from stupid. I would like to know what this bug is.

and once they have everything straightened out and they release the dlc, maybe then they'll tell us. they don't have to, but maybe they will. the more they tell us right now, the more some people are going apesh**. people need to relax. it's as if everyone's very lives revolve around the day to day workings of bioware.

No people are going ape**** right now because they do not know...all they said was "Oh we delayed it a few hours before release, we found a bug" and that is what is making people mad. A reason other than "we found a bug" would be good....for a lot of people and shut a lot of people up.

IMO the bad news is that return to ostagar will take about a month to be released and the good news will be that the RtO will be released for all platform at the same time or they fixed some kind of bug

Please don't speculate needlessly about RTO's release date. You'll only insite another flame war.

Sometimes flaming is needed. They announced 2 release dates, took them both back..and one actually just hours before it was going to be released, just saying there was something wrong and not even bother telling us anything, then go about shutting down the thread when people rather have fun than sit there and complain about their lies...it reminds me of Nippon Ichi and Disgaea where they promised something, took it back, than brought it back, took it back and now we are still waiting, 3 months later.
Sometimes a company needs to hear it. If I pulled this on my customers, they wouldn't be my customers anymore that is for sure.

MOST times..flaming is NOT needed..thats what gets threads closed...........you are mistaken.

Flaming does NOT equate to constructive criticism.   If you doubt what I say..google constructive criticism.

If your customers nagged you day in and day out for silly things..I highly doubt you'd want them to continue.

I am certainly glad that when my mother, God rest her soul, was a CUSTOMER at a nursing home, THEY wanted HER to continue, even though she nagged them about pesky things like lunch and medications.

Technically, when you boil it all down, your customer is your employer.  If you went to the person who signed your paycheck and nagged them day in and day out for silly things...I would wager that they wouldn't want YOU to continue, not vice-versa, as you stated above.

I have worked in nursing homes too rofl.   ENTIRELY different situation, the elderly are catered to, cared for..appeased etc.

If I was a person that nagged constantly I would wager that most people would stay far far away from me because I was annoying.

Same here on these forums......the sense of entitlement is overwhelming.

I want it ..and I want it yesterday.

There have been problems most likely unforseen that have cropped up and caused delays on the release of this dlc.
Its not an unusual occurence in the gaming industry..not at all.

But people here are acting like someone either robbed them..or killed their family in alot of cases.

Time to grow up...grab some patience..and when they are ready they'll tell us when the darned thing is going to be finally ready and released.

Til that time there's not much point in all this.   Already two threads have been locked because people have been using them as a platform to be childish.

Just to argue devil's advocate, you do have the right to express your opinion in your own medium, but this is Bioware's medium. They retain the right to modify or erase anything you say, or even deny you to say anything at all.

"this holiday season" is not a ****ing release date.  They delayed the DLC once, and the last minute nature of the delay likely means they found a game-breaking bug.

They should sack their entire testing team for the last minute game breakign bug. You sure they can't be replaced bioware? Sack whoever's responsible for the delay. in this economy u can easily get 2 people for the price of one. Since they are incompetent anyway why not hire 2 incompetent people? the more the merrier right?

As noted (though I trust it won't be quite so rudely next time), there was only one hard release date for RtO.

As for the last minute issue and sacking the entire testing team, I urge you to check the dev posts in the locked RtO sticky. (Just click on the BioWare logo under the thread title to see only the dev posts). Stanley gives a fairly in-depth explanation as to why bugs are sometimes missed, and why some slip through the cracks.

Darkshadow: it's all well and good to say there's no excuse for it, but would you rather they just went ahead and released the DLC with the issue they've found? What would your reaction have been then if (for example), your game crashed to desktop every time you tried to launch the DLC? (Note, this is just speculation. I have no idea what the actual issue may be). And why does it matter that it's a 1 hour DLC as opposed to a full game? I'd think, even though the delay sucks, you'd be more inclined to give them props for finding this problem before releasing it than to imply they should release it anyway.

I honestly don't see why it matters what the specifics of the delay are, but I guess some of you want to know. But that's up to BioWare. I don't see it as some kind of slap in the face if they don't tell us though.

Finally: let's dtop with the massive nested quotes, people.

no, seriously, i'm glad it was unreleased. the only logical reason it got pushed back is bugs.

anybody here remember Gothic 3 v1.0 ? Only thing that made Gothic 3 half-playable and let's call it...decent...was the Community Path Team`s recent v1.73 Patch. Face it, Gothic 3 v1.0 was an unplayable half-baked p.o.s. spat out way too early cause of JoWood's greed.

back on topic, things need to be released when devs are finished making and polishing them...u guys know any crap releases by ...let's say...Blizzard? didn't think so. they only put products out "when they're done"

sure BioWare messed up a little by posting missjudged ETAs...but that's not as bad as giving us a pile of arse and bugs is it? Waiting i can do...playing buggy games? not so much

so true. people complained about the bugs when there were bugs in dao, saying they should have been fixed before release. now, bioware is fixing what must be a serious bug before releasing rto and people complain that it wasn't released anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sometimes you just can't win.

This is an excellent point. People may want to take note.

To be clearer: keep this on topic. The sticky was closed due to various off topic shenanigans, so let's not derail this one.

So true, we just want the truth as to the delay. I'm also hopeful (about 1%) that AION will get better, still keeping an eye out! A legitimate and truthful response no matter how bad it is will stop all the flaming! I'll still get RTO and Awakening because I like the game, but no response pisses people off to no end!

This is an excellent point. People may want to take note.

To be clearer: keep this on topic. The sticky was closed due to various off topic shenanigans, so let's not derail this one.

i agree stop with all those crazy pandas and the nuts broking, and let stay on topic

Can I just also point out that, as far as I know, it was only ever referred to as "an issue". I don't remember any BioWare person ever claiming it to be a bug.

For all we know, it could be like the "error" in a toolset not long ago which would come up with the picture of a man showing his bare backside.

Oh, I am not saying I won't get RTO or Awakening, I am actually excited about Awakening and I have to buy 3...lol...because I bought one for my brother, one for me, and one for my fiance. We all play the game...it is fun. I just want something other than "We found a bug"

But the devs gave a response. Chris Priestly said thay'd encountered an issue that required the DLC be delayed. I'm not sure how it can be seen that they're not being truthful just because they didn't go into an in-depth description of the problem. Nor do I see how that's not a legitimate response either.

Yeah hours before the release they go "We had a problem, found a bug" that is what made people mad...we want to know what kind of bug would cause such a huge problem as to delay it hours before release.

That's exactly what I thought when I heard about the delay. "hmm sounds like Sony threw a hissy fit over the competition getting it first."

Then again I actually did go an swap my ps3 version for the 360 version just to avoid any future sony-based delays lol

Then again I'm an optimist and this theory allows me to hold on to the hope that the delay will only be a matter of days and not weeks. I'd really like to play it before ME2 comes out.
