Best? Assassin's Creed III or Far Cry 3. Ubisoft really delivered with these two titles.
Favorite? WWE '13.

I think ubi's always been a great developer, just their business policies have absolutely sucked.
Watchdogs is something I'm anticipating.

X-COM
It should be Halo 4. But a massive part of the Halo experience is its multiplayer since the campaign is never that long (as awesome as it is!). Unfortunately im not enjoying the 343 mp experience

I just had a game over! I can reload as much as I want and I'll still fail due to the choices I made (totally slacked on air units)! God I missed that.

The more I play The Walking Dead (just finished 2), the more I am leaning towards it.
The gameplay... well, I could do with it having only decisions and no QTEs, and it needs a skip option for replayability. But the decisions have me scracthing my head and immediately thinking "oh no, what if..." after I choose, and as far as I'm concerned the game deserves a medal for that alone, because I don't remember the last time a game had that effect on me.

used to be the walking dead but on second thought, ME3 deserves my vote more since I put over 200 hours on that game.

Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops The Line, both had very dark stories IMO and some very human protagonists as well.
