ok - i think, that i understand (core tech problem) the core game engime get (heavy) modified in order to begin usefull for this game.

then think this
original core game engime (only some minor problem - due patchs and plenty work)
 +
modifications    (for better grafic, scripting, etc + and many bugs)
 =
modified (partially) stable game engime (need still alot work, problem in add all new thing + old and new bugs)

remeber - sw is only good as the person/persons that write this - and game engime count milions  program lines

still im no happy to delay  ------------------ again

It's not to that hard to understand. She thinks that the 3D engine of DAO was not made, specifically for DAO, but was also used for other games. Kind of like the Infinity, Unreal and Aurora engines. This core engine was pretty stable.

After the devs modified it for DAO (better graphics, etc.) it became more unstable, meaning that a lot of things had to be fixed.

So... what's this have to do with Return to Ostagar?

She thinks that the Eclipse engine has an instability from being an "upgraded engine" that caused the problems with RtO.

When, in fact, Eclipse isn't actually that unstable. It has some issues but 2009 was its first year in service. Hell, as far as I know, it's a brand new engine.

well every modification you make in running software can cause problems, some time it can be critical problems that you didnt foresaw. It's tough to imagine for this kind of update (adding new zones should mean usually only adding database items and texture packs etc and not modify exe), but it can be.

Or they just wanted to announce Awakening sooner then releasing RtO for whatever reasons

^not to mention that he/she is assuming that RTO's delay is because of Bugs/instability. The devs have made no such claim, however.

What claims DID they make, exactly?

Question is would they have the same problem with awakening? if not, why is it RoT had a problem?
So many questions I just hope they can give us some sort of answers. Because I do really like the game and I for one can't wait to go back to Ostagar, Revenge can be sweet

For people who were wondering what happened:

We found a last minute issue and had to delay Return to Ostagar to make sure we deliver the highest quality experience to you, our fans.

"Last minute issue" could be ANYTHING, really, as   Stan Woo pointed  out...

Stanley Woo wrote...

The "reason for the delay" you keep harping on has already been given to you. No, it's nothing specific, but the specifics do not affect you. Whether it's bugs, scheduling, a mandate from higher up, a clumsy intern, my iced tea habit, or aliens, the product is still affected and we're dealing with it so that you can have the product you've been looking forward to.

In light of this, it's kinda pointless to  lay such  deep blame on the Game engine's stability,  wouldn't you say?  Especially since we don't even know if the engine has anything at all to do with the delay...

quite the opposite.  if Woo wants to stick his tongue out at us and say the problem is a classified piece of information, that's exactly the time to speculate what the real problem is.  it's still pointless, though, since we aren't the ones trying to fix it, but stifling legitimate speculation is just as pointless.

That is VERY highly unlikely. Something like that would have been decided long in advance, not the very day before. As one of the moderators said yesterday, they probably found a gamebreaking bug at the very last moment. It happens during software development. Good thing that they found it BEFORE releasing.
