Based on Wikia King Maric is being held in the Orlesian prison .Could he really still be alive ? If so that would be my one and only reson to keep Loghain alive .The reunion between these two will be a nasty one. Any other thoughts?

King Maric isn't being held in an Orlesian prison. Alistair is actually seeking him in the latest comic series written by David Gaider, and as far as he's been able to discover, Maric is being held captive by Aurelian Titus, a Tevinter Magister with estates on Seheron.
We'll find out more when Until We Sleep hits the shelves in a couple months.

Also, it is equally likely that maric is dead as it is that he's still living. We'll find out in the next couple of months.

I highly doubt he's alive.
Ask yourself this: why would Aurelian Titus want to capture Alistair if he already has one living descendant of Calenhad's bloodline?

Re-read. Maric was lost at sea and rumors say that he's alive and being held in an Orlesian prison. Which was just that, rumor.
In truth, Maric was in an Antivan prison before being broken out by Yavana. He was subsequently captured by Tevinter Magister and Dragon Cultist Aurelian Titus.
I'll have to read Until We Sleep, but because DG or somebody said they'll be going into the Fade, I'm assuming Maric died and Alistair will get to speak to his ghost or something. Yavana proved in The Silent Grove with Claudio Valisti that souls really do venture to the Fade when they die.
