my main character data uploads to the site, but the story xml and character portrait are showing error codes and won't upload.

Anyone have this problem and know how to fix it?

You have just made it into a very very prestigious club, ie: common place, that is rife with people whose characters do not update to the site properly.

At least it sounds like your levels and a few other things are updating. I'm on my second character (lv21, final battle) and it still says I have only 1 character who is at lv 13. Despite the fact that I have completed two 'origins' stories and have trophies for lv20 Rogue and lv20 Mage.

Putting it nicely would be to say that for some reason Bioware does not actually seem to care about whether the PS3 players have accurately updating characters (since this has easily been an issue since mid November).

oh well... I only really logged in to get use my character as an avatar and that's the only bit that won't upload... sigh.
