No matter what you think of Joker's comment, you can't deny that he is mostly correct, strictly speaking. While the joke may have been in bad taste, I would still prefer to calmly disagree with him, as opposed to 2 variations of flipping the f**k out.

He had it coming when I was forced to be buddy buddy with him soon as I came back to life and met up with him again in ME2.

Yet we don't get an option to shout at Liara and tell her to deal with it.
Or for her incredibly stupid comments on Thessia.

Tell yourself that. I find a number of holocaust jokes to be uproariously hilarious.

That. Love my depraved sense of humor.

How dare Liara have a breakdown seeing her home burn.

You have to remember shepard is in charge. A joke like that no matter how funny it is was right at that time. plus you have to remember shepard is under alot of pressure at that time he lost the data thessia is lost. This defeat took a lot out of shepard. Joker was just making a comment at the wrong time.

Even though both Shepard, Vega, the VS, and Garrus were able to contain themselves just fine. Hell, Javik lost in his cycle, and he holds himself together better than Liara.

Maybe he found out about the Asari in the hospital? And it's not racism.

Yes, it is racism. It's a negative racial stereotype. The Asari are the most populous species in the galaxy. The claim that every asari maiden is a stripper (or a merc) is just dumb. There isn't a sufficient demand for billions of strippers. So he made a racial slur against my Shepards bondmate's race and gets offended when Shep gets mad at him.

CanonShepard, maybe, but certainly not the Shepard I thought I created as my own character.

Then what are they doing? Yes not every Asari is stripper or merc but many are.

Anyway it's a joke. Joker didn't make a serious comment about how all Asari should get off poles and pick up guns, he simply made light of a bad situation.

it was rather funny. i mean like 90% of asari you see in the game are strippers. think of how big an army they would have if the strippers took up arms

Although with weapons like the Disciple, they'd still be pretty useless.

The Acolyte more than makes up for the disciple. Plus the Justicars have Biotic Bubble, so their dancing clothes won't get torn.

I actually loved that moment. I'd just read the email from Kai Leng, Shepard was boiling mad, the situation was pretty bleak - so when she reacted like that I thought it was perfect (as she usually doesn't mind his jokes).

Shepard was boiling mad. Kai Leng e-mail. Not only that she's also Liara's bondmate.

Shepard: EDI, you have the helm, and go talk to Spc. Traynor for about 10 minutes and shut off your listening monitors in here for that duration, that's an order.

EDI: "Yes, ma'am."

Shepard: "Moreau....

Door is closed. That's where you let him have it, not in front of the crew or EDI. And if he throws that "Tiptree" thing in. Throw "I lost my family on Mindoir, so don't throw it back in my face. No more racist or speciesist jokes on my ship. Got it?"

I always thought of shepard would say:
"Very funny....I should bring Liara here, you can tell her that joke as well. I am sure she will appreciate that."

I was gonna just slap the "no strong feelings" pic in here.. But I thought i'd go into a little more detail since it'll be my last post for today.

A big part of roleplaying is that you can reflect how you're feeling in the instant that you're playing into the game. For example if I'm in a good mood, I might not want to yell at Joker.

I'm not fussed about this issue in particular because there are much bigger problems imo. However, this can be related to some of those other problems in that it was an element ME3 was missing a fair bit of. It's the same for Dr. Archer and how your Shepard is still forced to feel contempt for him.
Even though he seems genuinely sorry for what he did.

What I'm saying is, there should at least be the option to go one way or the other. I don't understand having two responses that serve to treat him the same way. While I'm not saying the other option should be that Shepard goes over and high-fives him. It could have been something less stern to just tell him to knock it off. But, like many other parts in the game, they've taken the RP out of RPG.

I think people spend too much time thinking about how THEY feel in this situation. I mean, no person here can possibly understand losses like this. Nothing that has ever happened in human history has been on a scale this large. That being said, I don't think people can say they would do one thing or another in this situation.

I mean, personally, I found the joke funny, but if I were living in that world, Shepard's reaction is the only appropriate one. Anything else is just sick really.

Even then he doesn't need to, Liara probably has hidden devices there as well, Y'know like the ones she uses to watch Femshep (If she's your LI) 'washing' Traynor.

Yeah, Bioware and their strippers. Never mind that the Asari were giving the reapers hell with their hit and run tactics in space and dealing very heavy losses. That's why it took so long for them to reach Thessia. That's when reapers changed tactics and decided to land and wage a full scale ground invasion on Thessia. It's mentioned elsewhere in the game if you know where to look. It's been so long since I've played if you want to know you'll have to look it up yourself. None of that ever gets mentioned on the Normandy of course. So what do we think? Strippers. Humans are so special.

Joker had it coming. I used to side with EDI all the time anyway.

Bioware's forced feelings.... either/or. No in between. I would not think Paragon would think it's funny either. This is one of those situations where there is no paragon or renegade reaction. The professional reaction would be "knock it off, Moreau. We just lost an alliance world." Bioware didn't give us that reaction. They gave us mood-swing Shepard in ME3.

If Liara is your bondmate? I can see giving it to him. If not? I can see telling him that's inappropriate. But as an officer, if you're going to lay into him not in front of the crew. EDI doesn't need to be sitting there to control the ship and can turn off her listening monitor.

You've just found out that, if a few people were less hypocritical, this ENTIRE situation could've been easily avoided. Not too mention you would've never been ridiculed for believing in Reapers ("Ah yes...") and billions of people wouldn't be dead. Also, they were complete morons in handeling this war.

So no, I can see a renegade Shepard laughing because because people have reaped what they've sowed.
