It's interesting that we can yell at Joker, but you can't say anything to the Asari councillor or yell at the Asari squadmate for yelling at Javik for no reason. I guess the Asari are "special" where they can do no wrong.

You can't really say that it was for no reason, because Shepard comes in mid-converation, so there's no telling what he said to get her to flip her sh*t. In any case, you can interrupt her, and then agree with Javik rather than make him apologize. I don't really see what's wrong with that scene.

I'm still mourning the loss of those neutral options in ME3.

Would those commandos, that bought Shepard time, be alive if the artifact was revealed earlier?

No because it would have been bad writing. Shepard had to miss the artifact because a big obstacle had to be thrown in his/her way. It was essentially defeat by cutscene.

The thing is that if Shepard had gotten the information earlier and there was no reaper invasion going on, and the Temple was 100% secured, a good writer would have thrown another pile of **** in Shepard's path like having the shuttle shot down over Thessia before reaching the Normandy, and the data taken then. You know, something like that. Good writers throw crap in the paths of the protagonist, especially if the protagonist is the hero of the story. We must make them suffer. Nothing should go according to plan. They should however get a taste of victory every once in a while so they realize how bad the s*** sandwich we constantly feed them tastes, and they need their kick ass moments.

What are you, the new David?

No, and do not insult me like that. If I were the new David I would have peppered you with questions, or made a simplistic three word reply. Your reply to me on the other hand....

David and I disagreed on many things. One of them had to do with the necessity of the protagonist being the hero. I say that it is not a necessity. Anyone can be the hero of a story. The protagonist simply has to be the one with a solid story arc who holds everything together. Take any class or read any book on writing, and as a writer you may map out your protagonist's path to success, but you also need to put obstacles in that path. Without conflict, and without obstacles to overcome there is no story.

Again, I thought he deserved it. The scene was so badly written. Who the hell wrote that scene to begin with

I would guess it would mainly be Weekes and Dombrow (Weekes writes Joker, I think? Could be wrong. Dombrow did Thessia).

It isn't a Joker thing though. If it's Weekes, he makes fun of everything. He writes both Tali and Jack, for example - and then has Jack call Tali "dog legs".

I see thessia as the final straw that breaks shepard momentarily. After all the death and suffering to be that close to perceived victory and for it to be taken away (and remember from shep's point of view it really is over as she has no idea where to find cutscenepowerboy) makes her break for that moment.
It's hinted at throughout the game that she is on the edge. This is just the manifestation of it.
I suspect people have an issue with it because it is the asari/liara. But then that's their choice.

I don't know. I get mixed messages from all of it. When I see Joker and EDI making jokes, what I see is the writers making fun of anyone taking this stuff seriously.

It's in direct contradiction with how Shepard is written. I wish they didn't do that. Shepard (or the player) should be allowed to join in the fun. The melodrama got really ****ing old really fast after Thessia.

i still dont see why you can joke at soldier's dying for you? they made that sacrifice for shepard and shepard failed on his end. shepard saw the bravery of those soldiers and that was nothing to joke about.

and the joke hit shepard. cause the mission failed on his end.

and if you still dont get that, i dont know where your from.

Stop protecting your precious Asari. They messed up in a very big way by not revealing that artifact earlier.

You're alright with yelling at Joker, but we can't say anything to the councillor except "I'm sorry". Again it was the stupid Asari that failed to reveal the artifact.

Why can't we yell at T'soni? What gives her the right to yell at Javik? Why isn't she blaming her own government for the crap? That's right because they're "special" and we're not allowed to yell at the Asari.

She had no reason to yell at him except out of frustration that she did't know about the artifact. Why isn't she condemning her government for their stupidity?

I think the intention of the scene is to show that even the comic relief guy is feeling the pressure, and not to make fun of everything. He just chose his time and his audience completely wrong when he made that joke. And it was a dumb joke ofc, even by Joker's standards.

I now always avoid the cockpit after Thessia because i dislike the forced flying off the handle of Shep.
For me at least the later scene isn't worth stomaching that scene.

Shepard is not the player. Shepard is a character whom the player controls. The destruction of Thessia was a massive loss for the galaxy (Regardless of player opinion) and can be regarded as a personal failure for Shepard. I don't think Shepard (regardless of moral alignment) would be all laughs and jokes about failing such a critical mission and losing the homeworld of an allied race in the process.

Granted, I do believe that a simple "Not now..." option would have been nice, instead of shouting. But I don't believe Shepard should join in on the fun under any circumstances.

Yeah...

"The humans who just arrived and think they should run everything or the Turians who just want to bomb every problem away or these idiot Quarians who let the Geth loose on the galaxy. Every problem we Asari ever had was brought onto us by you aliens! It would've been best if no one but the Asari would've ever crawled out of the muck."
