So much this. I believe the Bioware devs said somewhere that if you catch a wide enough net, you would earn more profits.Aetheria wrote...
I wouldn't say that BioWare's games are "made for women" so much as they are "not targeted exclusively to men". That said, I do think it's neat that promo material for their recent games has featured female protagonists as well as male. One of the most-loved aspects of BioWare games is being able to customize your main character, so showing off two versions of the protagonist makes sense if you want to appeal to fans.
IIRC female protagonists have already been on the cover at least twice: ME3 had that reversible cover, and Jade Empire's box art actually featured Wu the Lotus Blossom front and center.

Not trying to be sexist just curious but for some reason the whole Dragon Age series seems like it is written to appeal more to the female audience, anyone else get this impression? Not having a go at anyone I just find it 'unique', to be fair it would seem most games these days are writen to appeal more to males, I mean we got the far superior Witcher series so I guess it is about time women got a series of games made to appeal more to them, all the more power to ya girlfriend.
I'm uncertain what we do for female fans that we don't also regularly do for male fans. I suppose if the Witcher series is the benchmark you're using, the difference might make it seem unbalanced, but that's a rather dubious measuring stick if you ask me.
It's nice that you throw the female fans a bone, however, "far inferior" as it might be. I'm sure they all appreciate the magnanimous effort that must take on your part.

Black Ops 2 zombies are the only thing worth playing, Far Cry seems to be a whole lot more fun overall. I think people just assume that just because the games have the same setting, both games must somehow be compared. What the OP said can be applied to the majority of the games in the market today where their primary audience is straight male gamers. It just seems like he wants to incite a flame war or doing some form of advertisement.Arppis wrote...

Regardless, I'd be fine with a female PC in the marketing. Don't care much about this.

Did I? I tried it, but I just didn't like it. Maybe I would have liked it more if I play it more, but the storyline just doesn't interest me, so I have never finished the game. The Hierophant wrote...

I... actualy liked the campaign. But it's WAY too short. Even with all the multiple endings and such.
And Far Cry 3 is completely different animal. The only thing done bit "wrong" about it is somewhat linear main missions and quicktime events. Oh and for consoles, the crouch button is in wrong place.
That's about it.

The only thing that I've seen in either of the DA games that could be considered "one for the fan girls" was Fenris, he was pure female fan service.DarkKnightHolmes wrote...

That's my main grip with it, the game focus far too much on the multiplayer and leave the single player portion underperformed. CoD series usually has shorter development time than most of the blockbuster games out there, so I don't expect them to be able to excel at both SP and MP. Far Cry 3's SP is a lot more fun, but the Multiplayer seems to be pretty repetitive. That is what I'm afraid that may happen to DA3. If they choose to focus on multiplayer, the single-player mode may suffer. DA series is more about storytelling than co-op type. I just hope that I get proven wrong on this when the game comes out next year.Arppis wrote...

Well Raiden ran without pants. No wonder MGS2 sucked so much! It was made for GIRLS!
...seriously Kojima casted Raiden as main character because some girl said that Solid Snake is "smelly old man and I don't wanna play as him!". He really did it because of that.
