Hi all,

I have recently starting playing Baldur's Gate 1 again and I am playing with TUTU for the first time. I rolled a fighter/mage elf for a normal party playthrough. When building my character I must have had some wrong information because I was under the impression that there was a 5 spell limit on max spells in BG1.

So went with these stats:

STR 18/00
DEX 19
CON 17
INT 13
WIS 4
CHA ~12

So how big of a problem is a 13 INT "mage" ?
Any help would be nice, tnx.

Chance to scribe a spell 50% - can be fixed with a potion of intelligence.
Max spells per level is 7, again can be fixed by a potion of intelligence.

You may have been thinking of a sorceror, which does have a limit of 5 spells per level. As gslester says there are no real problems with having low intelligence - you just need to save any rare spell scrolls up to learn together so you don't run out of potions.

tnx. for the reply. I don't quite understand can i use a potion to learn spells and keep them memorized even if the potion runs out or something?

Number of spells memorized does not depend on Int, but number of spells you can scribe does, so when you need to scribe a spell over your limit, drink a potion and write the spell to your spellbook. Even when the potion effect expires the spell will stay in the book.
