I was mainly talking about the rather hilariously un-related things that were drawn simply from whether you prefer one play style or another. For example ... people who play Vanguards are likely to get into bar fights because they're always getting in people's faces.

lol You might be on to something here Lord_Sirian. You should do a poll for people who are mainly Vanguards at heart. And even if they don't get into literal barfights, maybe they want to and Vanguarding is a way to do it?

That said... "team players" make a team game immensely easier. You can't possibly tell me that you would rather have another lone ranger on the team than, say, a Volus making sure your shields are up, or an adept trying to set off your BEs efficiently or a Krogan intentionally trying to be a road block between Banshee balls and you.

i.e. This conversation's purpose is stupid. Both types of players hold separate but equal values. One can benefit from being a little bit of both.

Your right. The soloist in me doesnt want other lone rangers. I want a team, to fall, observe me and send me messages telling me how great/amazing/legendary I am. You know, so its all worth it.

..Thats the only way I can solo...with encouragment...and that random ass dude..that luckly has amic watching my back..always worth it to have a bakc seat driver somedays...cause I damn well cna't hear "enemy foot steps" cept I can hear only chatters or atlas movements..

then again I understand soloists cause I myself am a RPG game master inheritly able to handle ATB RPGs like FF7 so on and was always capable at figureing something out in those games..thsi game introduces something diffrent to me..the reactionary which I myself do nto always have pratice with

Oh, and I learned how to solo well and truly, back in my PUG days, where I would carry Gold PUG's with a Piranha GI with no consumables.

I was often clutching wave after wave after wave. Nearly all good/great "team players" are able to solo if it comes down to it, or if they have that inclination. - You don't actually need to play solos to learn how to do entire games on your own. - Just play with your standard PUG. :P

This tends to imply that solo-ing this game is hard... which it isn't unless you deliberately gimp yourself by using a Volus maybe, it's just a tedious grind (with the possible exception of platinum) - seriously, doing my Lone Wolf banner on the gold wave 9 spawn I was almost literally sighing "When does the spawning end?!? When, for crying out loud WHEN!?"

It also makes the flawed assumption that playing as a team is always easier - some randoms out there are actually a liability, screwing up spawns, putting Phantoms into power defence mode when you've got an Asari on the team, using screen-shaky powers next to snipers and so on. Sometimes you're glad if you're left clutching a round because you know you can get the job done easier.

If I want a challenge I'll crank up Dark Souls, or play Civ 5 on a high difficulty level... or better yet, SC2 or just about any FPS against real people. ME3 MP is surprisingly good fun but only because of the co-op aspect... take that away and you're into MMORPG grind territory. Which is duller than dishwater.

... and bear in mind, I'm only a good player - not a great one - as was made obvious when I was the random in a game with thekillerangel and Sy7ar the other day.

THIS ONLY MY POINT OF VIEW. NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE.

Lets start with those who favor team games.

Think of it like a group of kittens snuggling together feeling the warmth of each other. They cant see themeselves doing anything without the comfort and the security that the group brings. Stepping out can be very fearful. people like that see fun as laughing and joking around with others. Im i against that? Not at all. There confidence level is predicated on how strong and cohesive the team is and not on personal skill. They are mostly outgoing and funny people with a magnetic personality that everybody loves. They love bonding with each other. Im I against that? No I dont mind a good laugh at times. Soloing makes no sense to them because it doesnt relate with they're personality therefor see it as a waste of time and pointless. They are too dependant on team cohesion to win and even to feel better about themeselves as individuals. Im I speaking for every team player? Ofcourse not.

Now for the soloers

Soloers including myself are often times misunderstood and even shunned by some team based people. We have as people would say "f**ked up sense of humor". I  We like to venture out and test our abilities to the max. We find soloing fun because well for me Im a soloist at heart. Did mostly everything in life on my own without much support. I personally find team based boring because it's un challenging as other soloers can agree.
I could even go personal and say that soloers  have experienced many rejections in life by people and gained strenght from that and learned  to do 4 oneself. Im I speaking for every soloer? No but some can agree with me. I find team games a burden even if im playing with good players. Thats why I solo.

I hope what I wrote made sense to you.

We can appear to be at times antisocial but thats not the case.

I see that many team based people are venturing out to solo.

IT CANNOT BE DISPUTED. SOLOING IS THE BEST SHARPENER. THERE IS STRENGHT IN NUMBERS BUT GREAT POWER BELONGS TO THE SOLOERS. MANY TEAM BASED PEOPLE SEE THAT AND DESIRE A PIECE OF THAT POWER.........-_-

I read this and enjoyed. The way you're writing, seems you're being sarcastic (so you like solo now?)

I find soling so damn boring...

Soling is more about Patience (sure you need to be good) but it's the patience...which I don't have.
I can solo up to Gold...but to be able to spend over an Hour on Platinum...shoot+cover+Run (then repeat for 75min) I have not the time. If I were reward with a Substantial amount of Rewards & Creds (maybe a Special OP Weapon for those who successfully solo Platinum) then I have reason. But lone-wolf banner is no reward for those who can successfully Solo Platinum.

I always applaud those who achieve that Platinum Solo.

anyway, It was a good read.

Doing something in a way that's harder than the regular way makes you better at doing that thing!?!? The devil you say. Of course it improves your skills. And if you prefer to play with yourself nothing stops you from doing that. enjoy.

Personally I like to play as a team because it means I don't have to devote the time and energy into being able to complete a 4-person challenge by myself. I like playing the game, but it is a game, after all.

Like I said. Send messages. Not chatter over the mic. When the team falls, my mic is turned off so they cant hear my discontempt.

That was the most patronizing post i've ever read.

First you say team players are effectively helpless kittens, unable to go alone, and then say you solo because you don't want to carry said helpless kittens?

Wow, ok, you go and play with yourself every game while most of us enjoy the teamwork thats an essential part of the Mass Effect gameplay.

You seem to place a lot of importance in what you are proud of, caineghis. That's fine, but you shouldn't diminish others for not being as dedicated to something they don't enjoy.

Sten is much more fun on a team. He doesn't take this seriously, and he plays gold with level 1 vanguards and won't kick them. Always a good time, and lots of fun. If people didn't play as teams, who'd even be on their friends lists? I like the humor other players bring to the game.  That happens on a team.

a solo'ist can be a team player to you know.
dont wanna play with people then solo by yourself and not on a team of people relying on each other to do their roles.

trying to solo when on a team is just silly, however some times is necesary on really, really, really, terrible, bad, terribad, super terribad team.

alot of people can solo, not everyone but still alot, soloing doesnt really make you special... its more about personal gratification and honing of oneself's skill.

i can solo? sure
but when on a team i try to be the best teammate possible, not because "omg we will lose" but because thats the whole point of joing a "TEAM".

the idea is to have fun with other people.
doesnt mean we have to spoon or get all "dear john i profess my undying love for you" on the mic either.
