THIS ONLY MY POINT OF VIEW. NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE......

.....IT CANNOT BE DISPUTED. SOLOING IS THE BEST SHARPENER. THERE IS STRENGHT IN NUMBERS BUT GREAT POWER BELONGS TO THE SOLOERS. MANY TEAM BASED PEOPLE SEE THAT AND DESIRE A PIECE OF THAT POWER.........-_-

to start a post with, NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE, and end with IT CANNOT BE DISPUTED, was fantastic

also, i'm introverted but prefer teams. i can solo all difficulties, and solo'd platinum many times before the release of the challenges etc, but i came to realise that it was an even bigger waste of time (30- 60mins solo compared to that of 10-20mins with a team). if you're a soloer, fair enough. that's your preference whomever you may be...

Don't you feel kind of lonely when you play solo? I know I do :?

Everything depends on what is fun for the player. However, the problem with soloing is that once you get into that mindset, you become a staggeringly bad co-op player for the simple fact that you don't think to support the team.

I think you're over analyzing things. This is a pretty weird thread and you should feel weird.

If I want to play by myself I will load up my new copy of Farcry 3, XCOM EU, or hell even DAO or ME2

I just dont find soloing to be very fun I play the MP to have fun with friends. To each his own I suppose.

I doubt many people take the game as seriously as the OP.

I like playing with friends, otherwise it's the same maps versus the same enemies and AI. I see no great power in being able to beat the game solo. I just play the game for fun and I don't usually have that much fun soloing. It is something that improved my game but not something I would say is fun.

<<<hates soloing. I find it tedious and boring and a more stress producing then I can handle at times. I can relate to the challenge and the frustration one can feel playing with a group though so I have solo'd but not much. Really going to hate the solo mastery challenge that Bioware has now. UGH.

I do both, so yeah. Teams and solos are both fun to do for me, and both are equally challenging in different scenarios.

Quick question, what brought this on?

I agree in one thing that soloing can help sharpen your skills but mostly in the sense of becoming a survivalist. That skill can still be picked up in a team game. Its a matter of understanding that you need to preserve yourself and play smarter before helping out a team mate and or doing objectives.

I have actually completed platinum solo's and will continue working on more but I will explain why I prefer "team" based cooperative gameplay due to how you related it to personal life I will too.

As a business man I had various companies in the past where I was the one starting everything and I rarely took partners but did everything myself. Those businesses although they made me some good money never truly flourished. I was then mentored and taught by various wealthy people who made their fortunes and (Im not there at all yet fyi) but the key to their success was what? Building a team. They never did anything on their own. They always build teams to match their skills to succeed in a major goal because they knew that if they were on their own they may be successful but would never get there as fast or as big as they want. (e.g. the length and time to complete solo's)

So in turn if you apply this same mindset to a "cooperative game like this you see that it promotes the same minset for success. You have the ability to coordinate team "synergy" with each other's powers to totally destroy the game as a team. Take a biotic team for example. One biotic is awesome but put entire biotic team together and a hard Platinum match can seem like a 15 minute Silver game. Team Synergy, cooperative mindset = greater success.

Soloing definitely helps but I wouldnt consider it the greatest recipe for success. It should actually help you appreciate how much more effective a team can be with your skills and determination.

In case you guys missed it canongizz has done 10 platinum solos and 25 gold solos. How many have you guys done ?.... Im guessing not as much.

While you losers were playing with your friends canon here was playing with the AI for hours upon hours.

how are we losers for playing with friends. how is grinding the ai (and your teeth) for hours on end better then having a real laugh over some funny moments, how is spending 70+ minutes shooting at the same thing over and over better than spending no more than half an hour watching phantoms fly. ill tell you something, just today i made three new friends after plaing 5 plat games. not farming but really playing. WE had an awesome time and its something we could not have done if we played solo.

there is no way that i can see how playing solo can be better than playing with friends

To be good at soloing you may need more knowledge of spawn mechanics, shieldgate, when to pick a fight and when to run away (especially during objectives) and your character's limitations.

To be a good team player, you need to be good at communicating and great at knowing where your team is at all times, what another player is fighting and their skill level (does he/she need help or can I just move to the next area to finish the wave faster?), when to revive, and what class will best complement what your team is.

I consider people who are good at this game in general to have all of the above.
To me, a TGI who may come out on top of the score board at the cost of dying a handful of times each wave is not as skillful as a GE who sacrifices DPS to deploy a healing turret when he sees someone has been hit by a banshee's warp. Conversely, a team who get too close to spawns when the wave begins, and unintentionally have enemies spawn behind them are not skillful either.

For the higher end players I would think it is much easier to solo than to truly group play.

I find solo incredibly boring. You shoot around a corner or run away for 40+ minutes. Off host pugging is where it's at. You never know what your latency is going to be or how good your team is. The wacky hijinks and ability to play suicidally recklessly is way more entertaining.

Seems like a vanity thread. Inflammatory title draws attention to what is essentially just a simple statement of preference. You like solos? Me, too.

Define for me, a Co-Op Game.

There is basically you'r answer.

Adding Solo in co-op....no longer makes it CO-OP now does it?

1. Click "Multiplayer" in the main menu
2. Play alone.
3. Make a thread on the game board about your approach being the superior one over the intended one

I mean no offense, OP, but something is wrong here.
