Worst ever lets play of the first one can be found here.
Opening cinematic was pretty. On a dock now with Geralt. His boat sucks.

I liked his boat...
I was just paraphrasing Geralt. Soaked boots and all. The boot is clearly of inferior quality.
Combat is certainly more reactive. So far I like the improved sword play, though the signs seem less accessible way over there on the keyboard.

That was quick, Allan.
I'm interested to hear about combat. I never really found a comfortable style in TW2. I think it was partly because being knocked down made me really disoriented because the minimap rotates. I did quite a lot of running away.
My preferred attack style is to aggressively move towards my target and then evade their attack, getting in some free attacks to their back. That, combined with lots of Igni.
Still, I can see why that MMA animated gif is used to make fun of the fighting system XD
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the execution of the themes (i.e. the actual words and writing), seems significantly better. It's easy to see the cinematics and graphics have greatly improved.
Foltest just died, and I finished up my interrogation. Vernon has given me the key, and I am to taunt the guards. This should be fun

I wish the game still let me LOOK at the other skill trees right now, but alas.

Left off with saving some old friends at the gallows. Was fun to catch up.
This game is probably 314159x more slick than the first in many ways. The writing (as in execution) is so much better. Like soooooooooooooooooo much better haha.

Me playing TW1 immediately prior has probably only helped the game's reception.

After that I called it a night.

Since the game has Steam Cloud (/cue angelic light and music) I'll probably sit down for a bit at lunch and play
EDIT: First playthrough is always my "preferred" choices, simply because that's the way I roll. Unfortunately I haven't heard Jory in probably close to 3 years now, so it wasn't much of a hint anyways lol.
I have a feeling the choice is relatively transparent, but if not I'll ask about it at the end of the first playthrough.

So, enjoying TW2 more than the first?
I know your still very early in but not to early that you can't give a response I guess.
So far yes, but I find the first one is a game that was lacking in polish in a lot of ways. The most obvious ways were the cinematics/conversations, which are already significantly better in the second. Lots of attention to detail in the nuances of the characters (especially Geralt).
Also, for those that are interested, I killed the Baron during the siege in a one on one fight. I also told that one warrior to wear armor (lol). He gave me a book about dragons (oooo).

Nice! Did you get it during the GOG sale?
Nah. I have actually owned both games for quite some time now, on Steam.

By the way, the Yrden sign is even more effective at kiting, as it stops the enemy completely for a few seconds. Also gives you a good opportunity for backstabs, which is one of the most effective ways to kill any enemy (+200% damage!).
Meh, my Geralt has a preference to use Igni and Aard.
Which talent tree you planning on using? I used the swords tree in my first playthrough, since it took me a while to master the potions/traps/magic system.
Swordplay, since martial badassery is usually what I like in CRPGs. I fully expect to use throwing daggers more than bombs and traps too.

The look I can get used to (roman numerals).
That surprises me. Is there a particular reason why you chose to kill him instead of talking him down?
Wasn't sure if I could. If he agreed, it'd mean fighting one man instead of a dozen. Removes a potential threat later, while showing that I am a (reasonably) honorable one on one combatant.

Some "scoia'tael spy" supposedly lured 2 guys to an ambush in a cave. I'm to clear her name, bceause I'm good like that.

I spoke with Loredo (and didn't throw my fight). Got to eavesdrop on him and Sile as well. Also dominated the local arm wrestling circuit haha.

I noticed there was a quest to get a silver sword, but presume that because I have my import, it was automatically completed.

Don't you lose the sword fighting the dragon?
You start with a default silver sword as well. THat's the one you lose in the dragon's mouth.

You'll be in for a nasty surprise.
Meh. I saw the bodies and realized my initial impressions were wrong. Not really all that nasty of a surprise. She tried "showing me something," which was obviously a trap, so I let the guards take her in. More of a pleasant surprise (as a gamer) I think, since it wasn't pretty much "the same lame quest type from TW1."
Bad move.
Please don't tell me stuff like this
Now I'm anticipating that something significant is going to happen because of killing the baron which I otherwise was not. Any surprise has now been undermined.
I strongly suggest to bring some grapeshot bombs along
Yes I know. I bought the book and have read up on them.

I was still learning the controls so needless to say I wasn't particularly sneaky.By the way did you try to sneak out unseen from prison or fight your way out

Akin to when I was younger proudly proclaiming to my brother "I know a secret about <person X> that I'm not gonna tell you!" which, while the details aren't spoiled, still tells my brother that something is up with person X.
It's cryptic enough that I'm not sure who's Mother we're talking about or who this other King fellow even is, but I prefer to not have to consciously "roleplay" my Geralt in a way that I know I am consciously making a potentially subpar choice because I think that's probably how I would have chosen had I not been hinted at alternatives.
Yeah, Loredo is great in part because his character design makes him simply look like a brutish thug type guy, who you'd expect doesn't have much in the way of brains.
I do agree. I like it when a game's design takes our expectations and assumptions and flips them around on us. Loredo is a pretty well done antagonist at this point (although I'm a bit surprised the game journal indicates that we're friends, given I thought I was decidedly neutral and aloof IMO - Could just be some fluff from Dandelion).
I am a bit disappointed that buying the books seems to max out your understanding of a target immediately (they all seem to be 3/3). Although aside from reading them for hints and tactics, I don't know if it really provides any additional boosts or anything (some games give damage buffs and whatnot). Would be nice to get a quick synopsis of weaknesses though, like the first one had. Right now I'm just assuming "You don't appear to be human/elf/dwarf, so I should probably use silver sword" which wasn't always the case with TW1.
