How often does the weather actually change? In one and a half play throughs I've seen it rain once and get cloudy/foggy once and that was it.

It doesn't seem to be scripted but happens randomly. I've watched somebody else play and it was raining when he arrived in Flotsam. Iorveth was playing the flute in the rain. So like in TW1 and Skyrim you have to be (un)lucky to get a certain type of weather as far as I know.

The weather is dynamic. Whenever it rains I get excited to kill something with Quen. :bandit:

So I've officially started The Witcher 2.

Swore to myself that the first achievement I'd get in it is "Poker!"

You know the one. Five of a Kind in two rolls of Dice Poker.

I'm gonna be in the camp for a looong time.

Send me provisions.

Ha, good luck. It took me three playthroughs to finally get that one.

Just one tip play the prologue in order from top to bottom when talking to Roche it's much better that way.

This may be blasphemy but Poker is the one mini game I avoid at all costs. Money is too hard to come by for me to gamble it away. :(

Yep, that's the plan. During the tutorial I realized that TW2's combat is a lot to take in at first. I was godawful, and I know that the amount of time between now and when I finally get the blasted Poker! achievement I'm going to suck harder at killing things.

Easy Mode ALL THE WAY BABY

Achievement unlocked.

Only took what, 119 games? Not counting the ones from before the stretch when I had reloaded a few times.

66 wins for Geralt to 53 for the Soldier. SUCK IT.

EDIT-

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Got four 3's in the first roll, then rerolled the one 5 I had and ended up with the last 3 necessary.

Somehow I knew it was gonna be a set of 3's as prior I had been getting 3's quite a bit. Including the four 3's I had when I forgot to reroll earlier, hahaha.

So yeah. Now I get to really delve into the gaWAIT WAIT WAIT

There are dummies to hit somewhere, right? 10 for a 10% exp bonus thingie?

You get a bonus for killing all the dummies. Get to Flotsam already, that's when it gets good.

Make sure you read you Glossary, Quest Log and books from merchants, loot and loot drops. There is a lot of writing. Also, Aryan is where you WILL learn combat, from plenty if practice, if you're playing on Dark.

Your choices have ultimate impact, LP Prince. You may not notice it in one playthrough, but vastly different cutscenes and events occur depending on choices. And your entire Chapter 2 will be completely different in different locations depending on your choices.

I just finished chapter 2 in Iorveth's path. I had to turn it off because I felt bad about some of the stuff I thought was the right thing to do on Roche's path. What a story. I've read countless spoilers on these boards yet I'm still shocked at certain parts.

At the point where leveling up feels pointless now, think I'm at level 32 and have everything I feel I need from swordsmanship tree and nothing feels particularly useful that I don't already have from the other trees.

Spared. I'm still escaping from La Valette Castle's dungeons.

On that note-

Foltest's daughter knows Geralt didn't do it, right?

Okay, so Aryan burned everything down. Or so it seemed. Hope they don't think I did that too.

Prologue over, Chapter One begins.

Some things have upgrades.  Upgrades are definitely worth it on signs, for instance.
