Brings me back to pre-DAO when Bioware reps were saying that they "didn't pull any punches".
Hah, yeah ya did.

Okay, so Aryan burned everything down. Or so it seemed. Hope they don't think I did that too.
Prologue over, Chapter One begins.
You'll like Flotsam, probably my favorite area in the game.
Couple of tips: you're free to complete objectives in any order, but sometimes a quest will count as failed if you advance the story too far. Keep that in mind. Also, when you explore and get to the river, you'll notice if you go one direction you hit an invisible wall, but if you go another this leads to a cool swamp area that I had actually missed in four playthroughs.

Your computer must've been really bad to only get 20fps. My HD 5770 and Q6600 can run it just fine at 1920x1200.

So trolls, nekkers, and other stuff and things I guess are in my future.
Right now I'm gonna look around, talk to people, try to make so many orens people think I'm a walking bank, etc etc

Some things have upgrades. Upgrades are definitely worth it on signs, for instance.Druss99 wrote...
I just finished chapter 2 in Iorveth's path. I had to turn it off because I felt bad about some of the stuff I thought was the right thing to do on Roche's path. What a story. I've read countless spoilers on these boards yet I'm still shocked at certain parts.
At the point where leveling up feels pointless now, think I'm at level 32 and have everything I feel I need from swordsmanship tree and nothing feels particularly useful that I don't already have from the other trees.
Yeah, pretty much what I've ended up focusing on. I upgraded Aard because I was using it alot, I know Quen is more useful but I tend to avoid using it and prefer to use my reflexes to dodge attacks or block. Adding another to get bombs and traps +100% damage is next unless it turns out theres one with a mutagen slot I'm missing. Basically just supplementing other abilities at this point.

Oddly the most enjoyment I had from fighting was actually dying at a hard fight, then having to re-load and actually be able to plan a strategy like picking the right traps and where to lay them or making the right kind of bomb for the fight. Like the fight with the Harpy Queen, it's an ambush and I died. But I came straight back and conflagurationed the hell out of the area, oiled my sword and got some zirkannian suns ready. It was satisfying coming up with a plan to hunt monsters. I hope TW3 has more opportunities to plan strategies like that with its greater focus on monster hunting, alot of fights in TW2 you need to prepare for but often have no idea they are coming until you've already died from them. Better sign posting for some fights would be appreciated, although I do appreciate the odd ambush.

Searching on the internet there's absolutely NO consensus on how to actually get the perk except needing to destroy ten of them.
Some say you can destroy the same ones over and over since they respawn, some say you need to destroy ten different dummies, etc etc
I've been going crazy trying to get this. I forgot to destroy the five dummies in the Prologue so I started in Flotsam with the four that are there(two at one of the exits, two where the guards quarters are at) but I got NADA.
That lack of the 10% bonus is going to drive me nuts.

I swear I've destroyed like a hundred training dummies to get the 10% bonus exp perk, but no dice.

There's a house of guards in flotsam, if you can get away fast enough..I don't think you can destroy the same ones over and over.

Yeah, those two I hit. Mainly though I hit the two at the Nonhuman Quarters' exit.

Some of the info there can be a bit spoiler-y so just in case you don't want that: there should be 2 more in Loredo's compound.

Saskia is kinda rude when you first meet her, but when you get a chance to know her better, you'll love her.

I'm barely into the game and doing things veeery slowly, trying to figure stuff out so I haven't even spoken to Loredo yet(after he asked me to meet him after dark).
I don't think I care for the bonus anymore to be honest, I think its about time I just tried to play the game.
My issue(not really an issue but stick with me here) is getting used to the map, where things are, where to find certain people, and most importantly in my head right now, trying to figure out how to make a poopton of orens.

LP, I'm interested to hear your views on the total game thusfar. Like the characters? Like the environments and brushing up on any lore? Like Triss's personality and eyes? Getting to know Zoltan and Dandilion?

I made this long post responding to this and then when I clicked post the server didn't respond.
Lets try this again.
Characters- Barring the names ones below(since I'll cover them separately) I like the characters I've run into so far. I'm still barely into the game so I'll need time to enjoy everything but I'll get there.
Environments- From the little I've seen(Flotsam, the forests around it) its beautiful. Can't wait for more. I consider myself spoiled the last week what with Crysis, Crysis 3, and now this to enjoy environment wise.
Lore- This is my first foray into The Witcher series so everything is brand new to me. Any references to past events and people goes and will go right over my head so repeated trips to the wikia after I beat the game will get me up to speed(I always take trips to the wikias of games I play).
Triss- I like her so far, but I need to get to know her better before I solidify an opinion. I like her interactions with Geralt and Roche and I'm hoping for more.
Zoltan and Dandelion- Barely spoke to these two but its Dandy writing the lore in the journal and stuff so from the personality I can gleam from that, I like him already.

Subtle ways to close off certain areas. Not just "here's a door closing off a path".
I'm referring to the ship in the docks by Flotsam. You see two guards on the pier standing there guarding the passage onto the boat, and if you get close enough, they close off the passage with their weapons.
Thats cool.

I totally get it. Focusing on which bonuses to get where and when kinda makes things too technical instead of personal.
I always went with armwrestling.
Entering a new town and familiarizing yourself with it is completely normal!

There's a record number of easter eggs in the game. References from Tolkien to Lovecraft, modern day athletes, philosophers...you'll never catch them all but be on the lookout.
Also, at some point do a few rounds in Arena and hire each mercenary. Talking to them between waves is hilarious.
