Curious- do you get more orens for throwing the fight at the end or winning it?
Are you on the fight club quest? I think you get more for throwing it but you fail the quest and get less XP. But it's been a while, I could be wrong.

There HAS to be some A Song of Ice and Fire references in this game somewhere.
At least I bloody hope so.
None that I can recall.
But a paralell can be drawn between some characters. Like say Tywin Lannister and Radovid the Stern.
That, or it's my simultaneous man crush on both talking....

Turns out that yeah, hitting the two dummies over at Loredo's place did the trick. So thanks y'all.
That means it doesn't have to be ten unique dummies, just more than five unique dummies however many times you need to hit them.
So in my case- 6 unique dummies, two of which got hit a million times.
That 10% extra exp better be worth it, jeeeeesus

I don't want to buy grapeshot bombs but have someone make them since I have the diagram, but I'm not sure if there's anyone in Flotsam who'll do it.
Currently on the Claws of Madness sidequest.

One of my favorite sidequests in the game. The quest strongly hints that is how a certain someone managed to gain some power in the backwater of a town.

Playing a signs build which is far more fun IMO too.
Also, I've been very lucky with the dice games so it hasn't bogged me down as much this time. I really hope TW3 excludes and games such as dice which are based mostly on luck, or bar-brawls which are boring as buggery too.
Finally feels like I've unearthed the great game which is in there!

Result? 39 Grapeshot bombs. Hey now.
Also, I was wondering where those meditation and potion drinking animations were that I had seen on Witcher 2 videos. Turns out those animations are on the PC version, but were removed for the Enhanced Edition on the 360.

Well, somehow they managed to break the fine Dice Poker game that TW 1 had. It was fun then, if maybe less "balanced", but it's very tedious and bland in TW 2.
Yep, it's nothing but pot luck and totally pointless IMO. If there was any skill involved then that would be great, but there isn't.
Probably the most addictive mini-game I have played is FF8's card game. Maybe something like that should be included in TW3 instead of just random luck games?

The best "card" game I ever played was Diplomacy in Vanguard.
It was a massive time-sinker and basically a 3rd way to develop your character (adventuring, crafting, diplomacy), but it was extremely fun and well implemented.
...
As for Witcher's mini-games, yeah... In both TW1 and TW2 they're either really easy (fist fighting) or just luck-based, frustrating things.
Arm-wrestling was better (harder, but not luck based), but at the same time, it wasn't fun either.

Those animations were nice and detailed, but slow and unskippable. They made the alchemy and potion drinking mechanics more tedious than they needed to be, and were thus not included in the 360 versionLPPrince wrote...

There is strategy, albeit simple one and partially luck.SpunkyMonkey wrote...

I love the dice game. Just reload if you lose your money.
I didn't realize the 360 version didn't have those tedious potion drinking animations. Lucky you.

No need to remove it, I just think it could have been done better.

It's your man-crush, definetely...
Tywin is a seasoned general and scheemer... Radovid is just a weasel, and a tiny tad wet between his ears, IMHO... Be as it may, King Radovid has yet to reeaaally prove himself, either in battle or scheeming, to be even comparable to Tywin.

How do you do a poker game that doesn't involve luck of the draw?
You don't, like I say you just make it better and so that it involves some skill (eg reading players bets, reading their reactions LA Niore style)
Plus like Ive said earlier, it doesn't have to be dice poker, it can be a Tripple Triad type game.

Well as I said there is a bit of strategy, if you aren't looking at your opponent's bet or deciding on when you're best to cut losses then it's no wonder if you're losing money.SpunkyMonkey wrote...

Anyway I like it, especially in TW1. It's traditional and I certainly hope they don't change it too much.

I wasn't losing money, I was just bored rigid by the total randomness of the dice. Whether I progrssed or not was detirmined at random and no decision I could make could change that without a large portion of luck.

Isn't that kinda the point behind dice poker?

Then you'll have to read part 5 of my articles when it comes out to be shown otherwise.
