Should keep creating 'new' saves as progress, opposed to overwriting old ones if intends to attempt to do all quests in place etc before moving between acts. If wishes to do that in second playthrough aka if wants to make that playthrough a completionist playthrough then might aswell continue to overwrite old ones in first playthrough.

Edit: Since you edited out your comment I will remove what aspect was referring to and change to a general comment.

I just use F5 (which seems to create a new save anyways, though I wouldn't care one way or another).

Actually, I thought that at first too, but when I look in my saved games folder, I see a lot of files named AutoSave, and just one Quiksave file. So it seems all the saved files you have will be autosaves and not the quicksaves from F5 like in The Witcher 1.

That's probably good. By the end of TW1, it was taking about 30-60 seconds to display my save games in game.

To be honest, for TW2 it also becomes somewhat noticable when you have a crapload of saves. The autosaves aren't overwritten...

Of course you can just delete them. Trying to keep track of multiple playthroughs is the annoying part... The saves are just lumped together instead of being stored per character.

Ergh, the Nekker quest was annoying. The 4th nest wasn't even near the other ones! :S

Time to go troll hunting!

Troll was nice enough (although it's not 100% clear that I need to fight him before helping him). Since I'm a dispenser of justice, and he yielded, I agreed to help him out.

In the process, found some chump named Dimitri. He wasn't very likeable, as evidenced by his attempt to murder me. I killed him and his lackeys, and found one of Thaler's agents. Seems there's more to Loredo than meets the eye. And my eye and Loredo already don't really get along!

Really? Good job. Remember it took me many realoads to get it done the first time. I don't know if me playing Hard influenced the difficulty or not that much. I guess the sequence and rhytm are probably the same anyway, only damage per hit vary.

I really like how letho appears to have no cooldown on his vigor.... (and how he hits me before my game loads...)

Awesome. I beat Letho, and my sword lost its runes....

In other news, I gave Iorveth his sword (a sense of honor for helping me find Letho). Although this led to some of Loredo's men getting killed, and a lot of bad **** happening in Flotsam. Triss is now missing, and Cedric has given me the information that I need. I went and spoke with both Roche and Iorveth.

In the end, I choose... to help Iorveth. He seems more intent on quickly retrieving Triss and getting to Letho. And while I don't approve of their methods, maybe it's about freaking time they get their own independent state just so that this whole damned thing stops. And if a human, mutant or otherwise, helps them do it, well then maybe they won't be such pissants in the future. Plus Roche pissed me off for screwing things up at the Elven ruins. Kings are dying and disputes are inevitable, and if I can soften the Scoia'Tael's stance and act as mediator, maybe things will get better.

Although his decision to press on against Loredo WAS appealing, as that sack of turd needs justice as much as the next guy.

Grats on the Octopus and Letho, those fights were a pain in the ass for me. Disliked the quick-time event against the Kayran, felt completely out of place from the game.

I liked Iorveth but Roche was and always will be my main man, how far are you with Iorveth?

Ditto, that's why I disabled the QTEs.

Somehow never had many issues with the Letho fight. Dodge signs/bombs, stagger with Aard, press onward... roll back before he recovers his stance. Well sometimes it gets tricky when he uses Quen and you need to make a longer dodging sequence.

And yea, leaving Loredo to his schemes feels kinda bad... but on the upside, perhaps chapter 2 is slighly more interesting with Iorveth... and you get to reunite with some more old friends :)

Loredo decided to threaten some elven women to try to stop me from fleeing. Loredo is dead, doubly humiliating as I manipulated his ally with Axii to help me take him down.

The elven women died, which pissed Iorveth off, but Flotsam is free of Loredo's reign of terror.

Iorveth is still a giant tool, however. I hope Saskia is more reasonable. If I get a chance to run Iorveth through, I'll be hard pressed not to take it. At this point its a means to an end.

End up in a whole bunch of sequences, including some strange moments where I control other NPCs. A bit odd, but whatever. Gained 3 levels completing chapter 2, which has almost put me to the end of the swordmaster tree (though I am bee-lining to the end). Level 15 now.

The only real issue I had with the Kayran was failing to notice that the front two tentacles didn't have any weakspots. It did take me 3 or 4 attempts though. Letho was much more annoying, though I learned the combat system better during the fight. Particularly fatigue. Unfortunately riposte does nothing on him, so I mostly just rolled around until I had an opportunity, and would score 2-3 heavy hits on him.

Didn't he take your sword and you get a crappy replacement? Can't remember but Letho is a fun fight. Probably the second toughest for me after the Operator (a side boss) who I know will get you mad!

Loredo was into some..heavy **** or I could just ruin it for you if you want.

Either is a good choice but what I really like about Roche's side is more involved you are with politics not that you won't be on Iorveth's side.

Iorveth really isn't that bad! Since you chose him you'll learn alot about him in Act 2 which should give you a new perspective on his anti-human hate. It's not all just blind hatred.

There were two swords on the ground after he left. Both the same sword, which happened to be the sword I had going into the fight as well.

I'd like to think either side is a good choice, given that it'd be a questionable decision to have one of the story arcs be significantly better than the others! Fans wouldn't be so happy with this if one choice was much less interesting.

Just half blind (yeah I went there!). At this point he's a dolt. Saskia seems reasonable, however, and will probably help knock some sense into him.

(Note, I don't find Iorveth uninteresting as a character. I think he's well written. My Geralt just doesn't like him)

Bee-lining is okay, I guess. You get the capstone talent sooner and it gets you the nice mutable talents as you get there.
But do note that most Talents have a very modest bonus at lvl 1 and only really shine at level 2. So bee-lining the top-tiers is not always worth it.
And the capstone Swordsmanship Talent is kinda dissapointing against non-humans (plus adrenaline doesn't really acumullate all that fast with only 1 capstone).

Hmm, it seems I'll have to avoid this thread from now on. I still have to beat Letho (he kicked my ass the first time I tried) and haven't gotten around to playing yet.

I didn't realize I had dropped my sword. I took me a while to realize I didn't have it anymore and then the internet had to tell me it was still at the location of the fight.
