1) Acolyte is a powerful weapon, great vs. Shields and Barriers.
2) Geth Trooper is one of the best Anti-Armour Mini-Tanks.
3) If Caineghis can discover this synergy (no offense intended). I'm pretty sure other players can.

People have been overusing the Acolyte ever since the charge mechanic was removed
C) Flamer is braindead easy to use on a tanky character like the GT. People would've started using this combination whether he made a video of it or not.

I don't see this in Gold or even Plat PUGs on PC. I see a lot more variety. 

i'm on xbox and 90% of the time i have a spot for a random one of those 3 layouts pops up.

Bizarre, I almost never see the Piranha GI or Acolyte GT (unless I'm running one or one of my friends is:P ). TGI and Harrier...yes, I see that a bit but more like 10% of the randoms I come across have one, no more. 

I was keeping track of my PUGging experiences via a thread a while back and my posts pretty much reflected this.

Sorry Upinya, but you HAVE to be overexaggerating here. I wish that 90% of the time I saw Acolyte Troopers, Piranha GIs and Harrier Ghosts, at least then I'd have some confidence in my team and would be allowed to enjoy the game without babysitting three players just HOPING they aren't dreadful.

nope. the other day i started a 2 way gold with milk a cat playing as a slayer. he was running a GI javelin. by wave 3 2 people joined. both TGIs with harriers. I see harriers in 90% of games. thats why i rarely use it.

 Yeah I dont think I've ever seen a random bring a Geth trooper + Acolyte ever in gold/platnium. Never seen a random bring a Javelin with a GI (unless that one time Ashen Earth landed in a PUG lobby I was in counts). 
I do see TGIs popup every now & then. Other day in a PUG I saw a TGI sporting a Typhoon. I quickly switched to the same kit and we had a blast
