Blonde for warriors, Brunette for rogues and Redhead for mages for me

You have almost no blonde characters in ME likely because blonde hair generally doesn't look very good in most scenes in that engine.Captain Crash wrote...
It be interesting to see a default blonde protagonist. Some of the comments I saw during "choose FemSheps appearance" shows there is still a real stereotype around blonde women which is a shame. A kick ass Blonde is needed imo. Additionally Bioware haavent really had any in recent memory

Something funny I realised the other day about DA's companions. The amount of blonde male companions so far? 5. The amount of blonde female companions so far? 1. I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but still =)
EDIT: I forgot about Velanna =D

Dear Maker, the backlash if they didn't would be......bad. As in Bioware-is-destroyed bad.

I think they'll slowly inch their way there.
If things go to plan then in 5 years time I'd be expecting to see Witcher style RPGs as BW's main FRPG focus.

Because you know that EA/Bioware's secret plan is making a canonic male PC, with no CC?
Considering that what EA cares about is money, I'd think they'll look more to Skyrim than TW.

Possibly. I guess DA:3 will give us a better indication all-round.
And I don't think the plan is exactly secret is it? BW have already made several announcements for DA:3 which change what was in DA:O and make it fall into line more with The Witcher (voiced protagonist, only 1 race etc.).
Those things may already appear in DA:2 but it re-enforces the direction of their intent.

The gender I play depends largely on superficial things. In DA:O, it was a lot easier for me to create an attractive female than it was for me to create an attractive male, so most of my Wardens were female. In DA2, improvements to the male face models allowed me to create attractive Hawkes of either gender, so the determining factor became the voice actor. I prefer Nicholas Boulton's voice, so most of my Hawkes were male.

Voiced PC and one race option were features Bioware implemented already in their games. KOTOR, JE, and ME were released before DAO and have one race option. ME had already a voiced PC. They're not following TW's approach. They're following the other approach that they followed for their other games.
Which means that there is no proof that they're going to follow TW's approach of having only a male fixed PC. Saying that they're going to follow TW's approach, considering that most of their games have one race option (ME, ME2, ME3, JE, and KOTOR, in comparison of BG, BG2, NWN and DAO), and they already had one IP with voiced PC (and they used that IP's dialogue system too) is ridicolous. The fact that DA2 is their first fantasy RPG with voiced PC doesn't mean that they're following TW's approach.
Which we don't even know if CDPR will follow for their other games. They're "forced" to make a fixed male PC in TW. We don't know if they're going in that approach with Cyberpunk 2077.

But the ME IP has a CC. It doesn't have a race option, and DA2 didn't have either, but the CC of DAO and DA2 are practically the same.SpunkyMonkey wrote...
All BW's D&D games kept character creation though - it's a far bigger step to remove that from a DA, D&D style game than it is create a new franchize ala KOTR or The Witcher.
that's what worries me - that BW + EA seem to be applying this ME template to everything. I know it was a template around before ME, but it seems as if ME financial success has caused the finance men to impose that said template to all games, regardless of their heritage or foundation.
