Is ME3 4 hours long? No.

Therefore it is the better game.

4 hours of awesomesauce is better than 24 hours of nonsensical bullcrap. Therefor Dishonored is the better game.

ME3 is not 24 hours of nonsensical bullcrap. So bad analogy is bad.

It's pretty damn close. Go Dishonored!

I admit that I have not yet finished Dishonored since the Steam cloud sync decided to delete a lot of local save game data (I tend to stay offline quite a bit) from my PC when I went back online to allow Steam to update the game. That left a very sour taste for me and I haven't played it much since as I'm still pretty disgruntled. But that's an issue with Steam rather than the game itself. However, there are various bugs in Dishonored that left me unable to complete a side mission and I've had several other CTDs with it as well. In defence of it though it is a stunningly good game to play but one that needs a few patches to sort it out.

ME3 exhibits very few bugs on my PC at patch 1.0.4 and it runs nice and stable. I love the gameplay and the music and as much as I try, I just don't feel the same character fondness and connection in Dishonored as I do for the characters in ME. There's no buddy character (Garrus), no love interests, no one I feel I could really stick my neck out for. You never really know anyone in the game and I just feel detached from it. However the story in Dishonored is good and the chaos system works well to adapt the game around your playstyle and decisions. It's a fine rpg and I recognise that.

Both games have good and bad points but I don't think the gulf is as wide as is being made out on here. To be fair to everyone, I haven't played that many games so I have little comparison data to fall back on. But, when I play ME3 I feel entertained by good gameplay, music and characters that I've made bonds with. Okay the plot has plenty of holes and could be better but it's a video game and I can accept some of these shortcomings. If I wanted to really immerse myself into a damn good story then I'll sit down with a really good book and lose myself.

I'd vote for ME3 simply because I love the combat, ace music and the characters. But Dishonored is a very close second.

This is idiotic, they are two completely incomperable games.

Well they're both action oriented role players so they're not completely incomparible.  But I know where your coming from and I agree that they are very different games above the most basic level. However the debate here is over which game deserves the vote and so that is what we're discussing.

Here's my prediction:

If Dishonored wins, the poll with be triumphed as 'proof' that ME 3 is a bad game.

If ME 3 wins, the poll will be dismissed as stupid, and it will be repeatadly declared that such polls don't matter anyway.

Will the BSN surprise me?

True, but that happens all the time in these "best of" game brackets. (It keeps people paying attention.)

To be honest, I don't care ultimately which game wins because I own and like both of them. I also don't care what others think of either game since I have my own opinions of each and those are the only opinions that actually matter to me.

I'd kind of agree with this assessment however Dishonored is a damn good game and would be a very worthy winner.

Of course that would happen, but don't be so arrogant to suggest that the "other side" won't do the same thing just visa versa.

On another note:
It is gamespot (granted they have improved in recent years) they have a pretty shot credbility rating

I loved pretty mcuh everything about ME3, even some of the stuff other people are less entusiastic about.... However the end game was a deffinate lowpoint of the game..

Maybe if the rest of the game had been "crappier" I would have cared less for the endgame. Shepard dying?, dont really care about Shep dying or not, Geth? I ugess if the whole specis goes extinct that will water down future games... That's a good enough reason to dislike that possibility.... But what really got to me was the lack of an interesting and dramatic enough story.
I can see that they tried, but I can't help but feel that it was utterly lacking in the end.
It ended with Shepard and the catalyst playing in a sandbox... like giants in the sandbox... But it wasn't very interesting from a dramatic perspective.

I havn't tried Dishonored yet, im not sure if it's my type of game, but I'll likely try it out when it goes on sale.

Dishonored is overall a great game but ME 3 is even better.

But at least when Shepard died it was because you didn't have enough war assets and it mean't something. Since the EC, it's almost impossible for Shepard to die unless you do basically nothing in the game and so you're left with even less in the way of possibilities.

I agree about Pri:Earth, which totally sucked plotwise and the endings - I can kind of see that they wanted to end it in a way that no game had ever ended before but they didn't anticipate the fan rage that would follow. I think they'll learn a lot from the mistakes made with ME3 because I genuinely believe that BioWare care about their creations. I still think ME3 is a good entertaining game though and I just give the story a wider berth and enjoy the gameplay.

Having played both I can say I both love and hate Mass Effect 3, with Dishonored I can say I was bored out my mind playing Dishonored.

I still own Mass Effect 3

I don't own Dishonored now

So Dishonored easily wins this one...why? what did you think I was going to pick?

Now that The Walking Dead's out I'm rootin for ME3 but I can't see it getting past Far Cry 3. ME3 vs AC3 could go either way but FC3 will end up taking it is my prediction.

I have to say story telling wise, Max Payne 3 trumps Mass Effect 3 by a long shot. Even though its not an RPG, to me it has one of the best video game narratives so far.

And one of the most overblown narratives ever. Cutscenes are ridiculously long, it's almost like a self-parody.

I disagree with this point. Cutscenes in Max Payne 3 are perhaps too frequent, but not too long. My perspective could just be the result of my experience with MGS4, which makes any cutscene shorter than five minutes seem practically instantaneous.

True, but ME3 at least makes each sceneeasy to digest and is interactive.

As it stands, it looks like ME3 will beat Max Payne 3. Unless I'm mistaken by the bracket, it looks like AC3 will face ME3 next.

Yep scratch that, ME3 will go up against Xcom.

I'm fairly confident that Mass Effect will win. I liked XCOM a lot, but i think there's more meat in Mass Effect.

It'll face XCom and then Assassin's Creed 3 - if it can get past both of them it'll be in the Final round.
