ugh, KOTOR2 was so disappointing to me after the greatness of KOTOR. Same with Oblivion.

Diablo II:LOD was my passion for the longest time. Trying to ladder on battle.net, in hell mode, was quite a challenge.

Freedom Force.
Icewind Dale.
Pools of Darkness.
Wizard's Crown.
Fallout 2.
I can't do favorites, it's hard, but I can do lists.
That list was hard to chop down, too - stuff like Bard's Tale and Alternate Reality and Knights of Legend and Shadowrun kept wanting to creep in (oh, look, there they are!)

I'm middle ground on Oblivion, actually. I had enough fun with it to finish it, but that was after having a love/hate relationship with all the Bethesda prequels.
PST is staring at me in my pile of games - the box keeps asking me "Why don't you love me?"
Maybe I'll have to load her in once more and give her another go...

The Witcher was amazing once you got passed the bad voice acting
Oblivion had me busy for months
Fallout 3 had me busy for a while
I loved Neverwinter Nights 2 and especially Mask of the Betrayer both done by Obsidian I believe. They did KOTOR2 which would have been as fantastic as KOTOR but the ending was butchered to death. Still, I enjoy it alot untill the end anyway.
Sadly, I never had a PC to play Planescape when it came out. I've tried a few times to go back and play it, but the graphics... they are too horrible for me to go back to. I've tried to get past it, but I just can't.

Widescreen mod for the infinity engine games (all but one of them anyway)...makes the game 250% better.....still old gfx...but much easier on the eye

PS:T combat felt pretty clunky. The D&D 2nd ed. rules were implemented in a mangled form. There are only 3 classes the PC can choose. The character is pre-generated to a large degree. I've encountered game-breaking bugs that forced me to restart at the beginning.
See, right there, I can't get into such a game far enough to appreciate the story. It's like a comic book with horrible, horrible art but great writing. Sorry, I can't do it.
I could do it for Breakdown (I'm not a FPS fan at all, but got into the story quickly enough to not care) and Wing Commander (not a flight sim guy either, but the story was compelling enough to keep going) but PST - eh, like I said, I'm thinking of giving it another go (have it sitting next to me) but like BG1 I'm not hopeful.

I've heard nothing but bad things about it, likely related to the fact that it was being written when the game was still in character development stage.
Fake edit: Wait, are you talking about this novel? Or are you talking about this one?

Ultima VII. Ultima is still the best RPG series ever made.
YUUUUS! Ultima VII (The Black Gate and Serpent Isle) were simply amazing. I remember spending hours upon hours cleaning up a castle in Ultima VII and redecorating it, making it my own. Haha, it was so much random fun. Oh! If you don't know about Exult (an open-source project that brings Ultima VII onto modern computers), you need to check it out.
I'm quite surprised at the number of people bringing up Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. I always thought I was the only person to play that game, as it seemed to meet with very little success in sales. But I still enjoy the game. And with all the player-made fixes to it, it's far more enjoyable than it's initial release too.

I'd agree on that--you definitely need the official patch at the bare minimum (I think the Steam version comes with the official patch). The only thing I would recommend is to start with any clan OTHER than Malkavian and Nosferatu for your first playthrough. Malkavian is absolutely hilarious and has me laughing out loud in a lot of places, but if I hadn't played Toreador the first time around, I'd have some truly bizarre ideas about what was going on, and it does help to to have a basic understanding of what's going on first. I have to say that the conversation with the stop sign was a hoot.personally I'd have to say Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. it's old, and buggy (thankfully there are unofficial patches which fix most, if not all, of the major bugs) but highly addictive. while the character customisation is sadly limited to only clan (essentially "class") and (with the patch) history (a few stat tweaks and a little background for rp) there's still good replay value, especially due to the vast difference certain clans make to NPC interaction
I'd recomend anyone play it at least three times. once as a Malkavian (warning: incredibly hilarious), once as a Nosferatu and once as any of the other clans

Behind that, I'd mention Wizardry 7 and Wizardry 8. Wizardry 7 is a better game, but I've never actually managed to finish it.
I know people are quite fond of VTM:Bloodlines, but I honestly just hate the setting and can't get into it. Modern world vampires with guns just isn't my thing. I did however, enjoy the first half of VTM:Redemption (as it was basically Vampire: Dark Ages, which I kind of like.)
