As I've seen Jonathan Rhys Meyers float about already, I thought it'd be appropriate to voice my choice for a default female. Even though I wouldn't actually use it. Still, she is my favourite actress and happened to be starring along side Jonathan in the Tudors.

The lovely miss Natalie Dormer.

And even if not for her face, then certainly for her voice. It's a lovely one and I wouldn't mind if they asked her to be a VA if not the VA.

Charlotte Free, maybe? Sure she looks young, but they could easily "age" her a bit.

But why does 90% of this thread look like a dollop of Hellman's on a sheet of printer paper in the middle of a snowstorm in Iowa.

Hey, it's Mark Antony from Rome.  He looks totally different here.  Well, if they ever make a Dishonored movie, there's your Corvo.

If we are to lead Inquisition, i would rather have characters a bit older. Not the 50+ guys, but something around 30+ i think. As some kind of young guy/girl shouting "Burn the heretic!" sounds a bit meh. I don't know the model exactly, but for female definitely nothing with short hair like we had for Hawke, that was terrible.

This could work for female Inquisitor.

EDIT: I think the guy could be Sean Bean, but i fear we would die a horrible dead at the end.

I has an inquiry

Would you view it a bad thing if, for once, BW released an RPG where main male/female protagonist wouldn't fall well within boundaries of western world norm of OMG SO HAWT? Would this be a bad and unfortunate thing by default? Does male PC always have to be some Calvin Klein model and his female counterpart  some super model acress chick? Do they always have to be handsome, beautiful, sexy and in  their early 30s(if male) or early to mid 20s(if female)

Is it very important character is handsome, young ands fashionably beautiful? Is it by feault less interesting and less fun to play a character who is old, ugly, rugged, scarred* or any combination of these?

*As in Hound from SoIaF"-scarred, not  "clean sexy anime boy hero line across the eye - scarred"

it has been answered by other already i think, but i will add my own answer to that:

yes, i do not want to play a grizzled old character myself (unless he/she is old but does not look it because say he/she is immortal, has slowed aging or something)

i always make my characters look good, have no scars or tats (do not like both - i have two scars myself (one time i made a mistake and rammed a knive into my hand (it is not damaged though and the scar is not long) and the other is from an operation performed when i was a child and it is not all that visible and in an area that is covered almost all the time)) and i make them as young looking as possible, because that appeals to me (no, i do not want my characters to look like teenagers, but early twenties is best...i am in my twenties, so, why not - even more so because i am a self-insert kind of player, i can't roleplay for the live of me, my character always is me - aside from looking like i wanted to look, not like i do (different hair colour, different coloured eyes, taller if possible etc.) so yes i am designing an ideal self for me and then play him, at least when playing a male, when playing a female - which i do often on second runs - then i design her to look like the ideal (or at least close to it - i am not that adept at character creation also i often take hours doing it) women for me at least look wise :)

so in the end i do not want to play some old geezer (even though i like some old and wise characters in movies, books and games, i just do not want to be them, even more so as i am not old myself...i do not have live experience of an old guy, so i could not play one IMHO and i do not want to) or some old hag after their prime....

no i prefer to play the "up and coming" character rather then the "been there, done that" one or the "tried all of that, didn't work though" (meaning an old person who failed to reach his goal but keeps on trying)

so no, playing an "old one" is not fun at all!

greetings LAX
ps: i want Keira Knightley (look wise) for a female mage (bonus: if she is a magister)

yeah like Tali's face or FemShep for Me3? way to go!

indeed - somehow (call me negative or something) i have the feeling they want to screw us over one last time with DA3 - i mean everything they want to not implement, not implement again or take from us (from origin stories not coming back, to striping down specializations to only one (they are thinking about that), to taking non combat talents out etc.) i have a really bad feeling about DA3 - at least sometimes...and i even think they are not really listening to us (maybe the forum is just a huge laughing stock for them to look at when they feel down and nothing like the words of a fan who will be ignored gets them out of their depression? - yes I am exaggerating (a bit) but sometimes it really feels like it, when i read the list of things they have already taken out (in DA2) and do not want to give back to us (origin stories, non combat talents etc.), things they are thinking of taking them out, things they do not want to put in and things they are puting in which i think are stupid (like this companion gear-look-changing stuff where armor looks different on any companion - which is stupid because a raincoat looks the same on almost any person and the same should be true for armor/robes etc.) and that is kind of depressing...i mean they are making such wounderfull worlds and then refuse to use their full potential when making a new game (and the full potential of the world they created), that is like if Peter Jackson would have made the Lord of the Rings (and now the Hobbit) as an animated movie with manga-style drawings, a stripped down story, weapons 5 times the size of the character etc. and such that would become heresy IMHO - and IMHO it is worse then pissing on someones grave (make it someone you loved or a national icon) in the cemetry!

I'll pick custom anyway, so I don't care for defaults.

I really dislike involving "real" known faces into videogames. It does not add anything to character itself. Examples on my mind- Miranda Lawson, Diana Allers, Tallis. And even less reasons to use known faces for PC.

Yes, artists may work with real people to scan mimics etc. But fully created face seems more genuine to me. Yes, we have an example of "iconic" Shep-loo, but it's not quite same. Not many knew him before ME1 ( same as few heared Costa's name before ME3). And while that face did become "iconic" to series - it did not determine nature of game.

A face generator, which creates some acceptable visages is enough in my opinion. I don't need expensive movies actors and even less these over-styled Hollywood soap-opera or model chicks.
