I has an inquiry

Would you view it a bad thing if, for once, BW released an RPG where main male/female protagonist wouldn't fall well within boundaries of western world norm of OMG SO HAWT? Would this be a bad and unfortunate thing by default? Does male PC always have to be some Calvin Klein model and his female counterpart  some super model acress chick? Do they always have to be handsome, beautiful, sexy and in  their early 30s(if male) or early to mid 20s(if female)

Is it very important character is handsome, young ands fashionably beautiful? Is it by feault less interesting and less fun to play a character who is old, ugly, rugged, scarred* or any combination of these?

*As in Hound from SoIaF"-scarred, not  "clean sexy anime boy hero line across the eye - scarred"

Garrett Hawke is a bearded late 20s' guy. I don't think he would fit in the usual model archetype. I don't care how they choose the default Hawke because I always make someone represents who I am. I don't about others, but when I play I imagine myself as the main character. I don't need them to be hot, but I usually don't find the need to make "myself" look unattractive either, unless it was a joke playthrough. I guess I'm shallowed, but I don't see the point of comprosing while playing video games. I want my character to look good since I'd probably spend at least 40 hours as that person.

Hey you all good ideas! Swagger7 I am French and you hurt me lol (I'm kidding of course!) Deeply there is more information on our future hero!

I wasn't LOLing at the uniforms.  I was LOLing at the idea of using something actually french in the game, since Orlais is heavily based on France.  That and I'll take any excuse to post Revolutionary or Napoleonic uniforms.  They are awesome!

See, best hat ever:

On that note, could this be the male Inquisitor?:

I wouldn't view it as a bad thing.  I like having characters who look a bit battleworn and scarred.  It gives them character and makes them stand out.

For males, let's see...

Sinqua Wall is very handsome, and so is Idris Elba, for a more mature-looking character.

I really don't know many female models/actresses, but Lucy Liu needs to be everywhere more often.

What's that pic with Sinqua Wall from?  He looks quite epic in that armor.

Sir Lancelot, from Once Upon A Time. Third episode of season 2, I believe

As much as Bioware use him as a voice actor, perhaps use Robin Sachs as a model? I'd like the idea of an older experienced character, rather than someone in their early-mid twenties.

Hell, someone in their late thirties could work too. Like Anson Mount

Errrmmm, you know we had optional default protagonists in DAO, DA2, ME1, ME2, ME3, right?

no shiet.
but forced character walks hand to hand with it's voice and auto dialogues. which kills every sense that this particular character is yours and yours alone.

I don't get it. We already know that we will have a voiced PC and I assume that there will be auto-dialogue in some fashion. Since we can't change that, we may as well try to give BW some ideas of what we'd like to be the PC's face in the marketing.

oh yes, but me is more action game rather than rpg.

i guess you saw me3 femshep right? have you ever asked your self how she is making her hair and overall makeup? i bet there is stylist on board of normandy.
so me3 cover femshep first going to stylist, then the armory and after that to battle. we don't want her go with out proper makeup into battle don't we? marauders would be very sad.

Uh, you know that happened in DAO, DA, ME and ME2 as well, right?

And the award for missing the point goes to... YOU!!

Let me go on the record to say that I'm all in favour of customization! Check out my Dragon Age character portraits under my profile. All custom!

Seriously, it's not like BioWare is going to take away our ability to customize. I never said I was in favour of that. I just started this thread for fun because I wanted to see what people could come up with. I am not a fan of Sheploo or RikerHawke (that's what I call the bearded dude with the blood smear on his face who appears in the Dragon Age II trailer and on the cover of the game), and I only kind of like the default FemShep from ME3 but would never actually use her.

So... how exactly am I taking away hope for a custom PC rather than a forced one by starting this thread?

Some of you BSNers really, really need to lighten up! ;)

Both have this rugged look to them that would really work well. A nice alternative to the 20-something gym rat metrosexual look of Sheploo and main characters from other games by other companies.

Say, didn't Robin Sachs do the voice for Mass Effect's answer to Canderous Ordo, Zaeed Massani? I loved his voice-acting in ME2 and 3!

oh yeah? you are forcing a picture of a girl/women that you find attractive enough. However for me it would be better if pc would remain faceless. Put a hood or helmet on pc's head and we are fine.

However, marketings demands attractive character, i understand this. And even if your post is not official (not made by bioware), just you wait and we will have just another vote - "pick a female Inquisitor for a cover."

p.s. number 4 is better
