Yeah. This.

And @Celtic Latino: I'd like to see some more ethnic diversity.

always picture clint more as a Jon Shannow or Roland Deschain character, prob just cause of his acting career mind.

going by most of the pics posted in here im sure as hell glad none of you work for bioware picking character models or any game company i like

I must actually like the idea of the protagonist not being a specific age. In DA:O you could make the Warden look quite old. In the case of a mage, you could make them more elderly-looking than First Enchanter Irving and in the case of Wardens with parents (Human Noble, Dwarf Noble, City Elf, Dwarf Commoner) you could make them look at least as old if not older. It didn't help that several NPCs referred to the Warden as young man or young woman.

If ever BioWare decided to write the dialogue in such a way that tip-toed around any references to age they could not only provide default/ marketing characters of different ages, but could even work an age slider (like Obsidian had in New Vegas) or more complexion options into their character customization.

Finally, I think BioWare should provide proper grey hair (like Uncle Gamlen) and greying (salt and pepper) hair colour options. I liked the streaks of grey Orsino's hair had.

For sure. More options for eye shapes and noses would be great. I would like to have something other than Sten cornrows and that weird sort of dreadlocked long hair the darkest skinned version of Carver has. Short of going bald or  a stubbly shaved head there were no options for giving a black female Hawke ethnically appropriate hair that wouldn't have required modern straightening techniques.

What I'm trying to say is I want proper dreadlocks, better-looking cornrows, afros of various sizes for both genders in Dragon Age III.

I agree. I was trying and trying to get a custom Hawke look a bit weathered, but I just couldn't get there. I liked default Hawke's "imperfect" skin, but couldn't simulate it on other faces.

I SO support this! I felt the same way in Mass Effect when my main FemShep (who is black) couldn't have ethnically appropriate hair (and I didn't want to give her the fake/straight hair treatment) so I had to opt for the buzzcut (which did look good on her, since it brought out her lovely face), but still I do get tired of the assumption that the main character is a heterosexual white male. We've seen progress on the sexuality part (and yes, even the gender part) but I would like to see a bit more for the main character, at least in the default department. In fact I'd like to see it for NPCs too but that is not the point of this topic.

I liked how it was in Knights of the Old Republic where there were MANY preset heads of all races (not speaking of the awfulness that was the imposter Revan in SW:TOR, as I'm sure many felt).

Also, can dark skin PLEASE not look as though it were paint/fake (as if one put a spray tan or blackface on) in DA3? Just a quick side note

I suppost this post. I feel like making a black Inquisitor and I don't want him/her to look fake as hell. The dark-skinned woman in Dragon Age: Origins was just...horrible.

The Teryn of Whatever, glad to see there are others who appreciates the oldies :) Not everything needs to be an oh-so-pretty young thing.

Let me nominate another "older protagonist": Iain Glen

This is now my number one pick for default male inquisitor.

...and mine as well.

It would be fun to play as the grizzled old warrior for a change. Basically a Duncan. Though if a male protagonist was modelled on Iain Glen, I'd also want him to voice the character.

Now she looks far too innocent to have the title of Inquisitor.  That's just my opinion though.

Would you like me to search for a picture where Erika looks intimidating, because I will do it. :)

Sure.  That would be an interesting face to see intimidation on....

IIRC, the devs said that was an issue with the previous engine and they intend to fix it in the new game.

There is one really great photo of her, but posting it here would be breaking a certain BSN rule (hint: she's not wearing very much clothing in it).

So here's another one:
Posted Image
She looks a little... unstable here, what with the cold stare and head tilt and all.

Admittedly she's not the most expressive model, facially speaking. She does innocence, aloofness, arrogance all quite well, but finding a shot of her actually looking pissed off and scary... not so much.
Whatever, I still think she's got a great look. She's sexy, elegant, cute (she's 5'5" tall and slender like an elf...) and would be great as the inspiration for a character, not even necessarily for a Dragon Age PC's default appearance. I think I'm going to use her features as the basis for a character in DA III, most likely a rogue.

Stephen McHattie would make a good Mage or seasoned older rogue or alchemist
Andrew Pleavin would make a good warrior type

I think it's difficult to make a character with Asian features in DA:O and DAII.
