I've searched over the Internet for people with this problem and found only one person worldwide on some GameFAQs thread who had it; that thread had zero replies.

"shift_reset_all unable to find PC!" occurs when I attempt to use any Shifter ability.

My version is 1.69 and admittedly I do have a modification to the game in my override folder regarding the Shifter class, a mod from the Vault called "Rod of the ArchShifter". It worked awesomely in my older computer and was what made a certain high-level campaign winnable for my class build, but now it won't work and neither will any of the Shifter item merging that comes with the game naturally.

EDIT: it occurred ironically to me that I hadn't actually tried uninstalling all the mod scripts from override; I removed the custom scripts and now items merge properly. Apparently they were compatible with 1.68 but not 1.69 somehow. In any case, the issue is fixed and I feel silly.

if you want to merge all items try this:
- in polymorph.2da (you can get it in 1.69 2da source at vault or inside my CP 2da source for 1.70) set columns MergeI MergeA and MergeW for all forms to 1

then install latest CP beta, link in my signature and spawn item 70_pcwidget, activate it and in conversation enable the options to merge Arms (bracer/gloves) and possibly enable stacking the ability bonuses on items
