Will you still be using the Acolyte post-reversion?

Lol no. It was utter rubbish with the charge mechanic. A marauder/phantom/rocket trooper can kill you during that charge up. Stagger needs to happen NOW, not 1.5s from now. This is a total destruction of the weapon, and by extension the adept class.
It hardly destroys Adepts classes. If anything it might be a nerf to the flamer classes. I honestly think the Geth Trooper and both Vorcha will feel the hit the most.
True. The statment was hyperbole. But it is a significant blow to classes that relied on it to strip shields for powers to kick in. And such a blow was hardly required, since heavy weapon classes were dominant even before this nerf. So; not "destruction" but maybe more "fading even further into obscurity".
I don't quite understand this. If you were playing adepts pre-nerf acolyte, you probably learned to run with the gun charged, then release it & fire your power (almost simultaneously). This was slightly faster than the (post-nerf) clicking your mouse & firing; not by much, but it was noticeable. Admitedly, you had to move with the gun charged (even running over a change in elevation would cause its release, which was annoying), but you learned to deal with it (and it had advantages, as has been noted elsewhere).
With the chargeless damage nerf, you lost the cumbersome charge mechanic (and the slightly faster fire-power cycle), but the gun lost its ability to strip shields as fast, and, importantly, could not one-shot strip phantoms (which was quite disadvantageous to some caster kits).
So, on balance, and given the choice between the pre-nerf charge mechanic (annoying) and the damage nerf chargeless version (harmful), I'd choose the pre-nerf charge mechanic. (I suspect the charge mechanic will now turn shooters off the gun, which will reduce the nerf-whines that started this whole drama in the first place.)

So they left the damage nerfed and gave it back its charge mechanic, or no?
They reverted the damage.

Got to test it but likely hell to the yeah, it is more OPed when you can charge it and cast it at the same time as powers.theillusiveman11 wrote...
Simple question, will you still be using the Acolyte now? Or has it been ruined for you?
I just (re)tried it out and it won't affect my builds/use of it much.

You can lob an acolyte and a cyro blast simultaneously now. Or an acolyte and singularity... On the fury you can fire it while running into AF/Throw combo without stopping like a '****** to fire it... Or charge it then cloak and stay cloaked, fire it and stay cloaked - shadow strike 1-2 plat phantom w/ ease.... Charge it then biotic charge to autoshoot for a 1-2 punch. Fire and quick switch to primary weapon... higher rof etc... It went back to the absolutely amazing gun it was and not the pos it was nerfed to.

Agreed. Never used it before the removal of charge-up, I gave it a try just now on platinum and the charge mechanic screwed my trooper over. I'll give it a few more tries before ditching it though. Very disappointed, however.

Sure. But every time someone says "no"
in this thread I get a tad happier. Good to see BioWare's actions
actually affected all the newbies suddenly using the Acolyte on every
character when they removed the charge-up.
Gotta love elitists.

You miss the point. It is not about "newbiness". There is no way to reassign power buttons. So when you are charging it, you can not easily use the power on right bumper. As a result, all the kits with useful powers on the right bumper can not make good use of acolyte. If bioware gave us the ability to reassign power buttons, I would happily re-embrace it.Scam_poo wrote...
