Soft cover triumphs hard cover yet again.

Did you actually use the fully flamer specced GS or are you just arguing for the sake of arguing? If I simply flame away at a banshee with full barriers, she'll close in on me and I'm done - hence why I *need* the acolyte, unless I want to run around kiting it for a prolonged amount of time = not always possible, efficient and definitely not my idea of fun. Could I use another weapon with less effect? Yes I could. So could any adept. My flamer is my main source of damage, as combos are to an adept - therefore it makes perfect sense that I only take a shield-stripping weapon with me.
As for my need being "greater" than that of other casters - please point me to where I stated that. My point was that I play the GS as a caster class, therefore his need to strip shields is the same as that of other caster classes.
If I used the flamer every day would it make my argument more or less persuasive? (See how that's irrelevant?)
You can play the GS as a caster class all you like, it doesn't make it a caster class - you don't rely on powers the way a HA or a DA does.
You don't "need" the acolyte: you prefer to use it to maximize your efficiency and avoid kiting (the horror). It makes the game easier, essentially. (Which is why shooters cried for nerfs, not incidentally.) Compared to the use to which actual casters put the weapon - needing the weapon to strip shields before they can even kill, hoping throw isn't dodged so they get a BE to knock out the other enemies closing in or it's gel time - this is trivial.
If you used it, period, then you would realize why a shield-stripping weapon (the acolyte) is the best choice on my character, considering the playstyle. Same as for any other caster.
As for the bolded - if I choose to play a character centered around one power, then yes I rely on it same as a HA or DA does. Really? You're gonna argue semantics over the blatantly obvious? Is your argument that I'm not maximizing the use of weapons but rather using an alternative build even though he's (gasp) a soldier, that I'm doing it wrong?
For your final "point", no one needs, the acolyte, adepts were perfectly playable before it and are perfectly playable now without it. They are more efficient with it, just as my geth soldier is.

Anyone who says they won't be using it anymore and/or it is ruined now is a fool and should be eaten.

Absolutely not.
Especially not since they also nerfed it's damage by 10% a few weeks ago.

This. They should revert that nerf or increase the charge-up speed imo. <.<

Charge a weapon is a sh*t for an adept....back to my old P M-77 ¬¬
Yep. When you need to shoot, you need to shoot NOW, not in 2 seconds. And you don't have the luxury as a squishy adept to stand and let something beat on you or shoot you till you get it charged. Now, I understand the characters that have inate damage reduction and tech armor/blade armor/fortification can just stand in the open and charge it.
And the fact that you can't charge it in cover is completely moronic in my opinion.
But the caster weapon has now been nerfed to practical uselessness for biotic casters.
Shooty classes already dominated biotic casters before the acolyte nerf and they'll dominate all the more after the nerf. Bioware seems to be doing a VERY poor job of balancing the classes in the game. ME3 is all about shooty shoooooty and tossing grenades.

No, that's not what the change is at all. The reversion is of the october 16th changes that made the acolyte fire instantly and gave it a fixed refire time of 1 second.Paradise Ablaze wrote...
Guys, if you read the balance change details, you'd know that they reverted the recent nerf.
