Curious, I am using the Danish Elf path. How do you get him? It says to come back after the battle, but you can't do that

you'll get him as soon as you start moving away from the place you end up after the battle

Thanks I was looking for this and wanted to check before I posted. I got him the plant and cured him and then we had the battle and I thought I must have lost my chance, but couldn't figure out when I was supposed to have gotten him.

I got the flower to heal the dog, but I didn't go back to the kennel before finishing the remainder of the Wilds section outside Ostagar. I went and did the joining ritual after completing the Wilds, then it went straight to the battle. I looked around for the kennelmaster just before running to light the beacon, and he wasn't there.

So now how the hell can I get the dog? And if I can't, why wasn't there some warning that you can't get him if you do the joining ritual before handing the plant to the kennelmaster? Is there any way to cheat in the dog as a party member?

you will just have to get him next time around

Well, I had every intention of curing the poor puppy, but nope, the kennelmaster disappeared as soon as the ritual ended. Can't reload and go back, either, because I deleted a few save games to see if that would reduce loading times.

You are not meant to be able to take the dog into the final ostagar fight. Its scripted for him to appear afterwards...providing you brought the flower. And you only start with a dog if you are a human noble, which negates the dog scripted quest. You still get to bring the flower but it doesnt give you ane xtra dog.

Where is the flower? I've been searching for it and can't find it.
EDIT: Wow, that was silly of me. I already had it although it wasn't made clear that I did. Spent 15 mins looking for something that I already had...
