As of this moment, 19/12/12 10:04am.

I intend to buy Mass effect 4 secondhand for about £20 or less, if it is good.
I will probably buy it new for a similar price if there is like a Cerberus pass thingy and the game is good.

Given how much I have enjoyed the Mass Effect trilogy I will certainly be buying another game when they bring it out. Being in the minority who don't have a problem with the ending since the extended cut I would be confident enough to go out & pre-order (maybe even the collectors edition depending what extras come with it.) Whether i stick with another trilogy for the duration will depend. If the new games have at least mostly new characters as good as those we got to know over the last five years, with a similarly action packed yet thought provoking story -yes! If it is a 'Shepard clone' human marine doing the same old thing - maybe not. The franchise needs to move forward with any sequels.

To early to tell.

Ask Again later.

Maybe.

Magic 8ball will make a decision closer to the time.

As long as it's sequel and not fps, then i'll see when we get some news, trailers, screens, gameplay etc.. I mean I wish I'll wanna buy it, but there's no way to know that now..

I'm going to need a really good reason why I should get invested in a new character. Why should I trust Bioware not to drop another bridge?

Depends on how many bridges you think they held before. Or what consistutes dropping them.

Or, come to that, makes a given tabula rosa PC character played by the same person 'new.' If it weren't for the occassional person claiming to know you from ME1, ME2 might as well have been a new protagonist entirely for the relevance it had to most of the characters and most of the plot.

As for me... well, by the time ME4 comes out I may or may not be in a position that offers me much time to play it in the first place. I certainly am interested in what it could be, but I don't delude myself into thinking that what I think is good will be taken up.

Going by Dante's Inferno, yes. The deepest level of Hell is the darkest and coldest, reserved for those furthest from the light of God.

Depends on what I hear about it. It definitely won't be a pre-order or a day 1 purchase.

Nope, I stopped doing business with EA after finishing Mass Effect 3. They will never see $ from me again.

+1: Get rid off (after the extended crap) all the games I got with the infamous (to stay polite) logo just kept, ME1, ME2 and DA1).

Third option.

Shepard comes back? I'll purchase.
Shepard doesn't come back? Forget it.

Maybe, if it is pre-release for less than £20, so long as there are no silly pre-order bonuses.

If not, I will wait and pick it up in a sale. The way BW are going, it will at least be a laugh!

You want pre-release at a bargain price but no free bonus material because you'd be ordering early?
Well, you could buy it at pre-release bargain price and simply not use the seperate keys for the bonus material if that were to happen. I'm sure Bioware wouldn't mind you paying again for those seperately.
Not that this would ever happen, a good game like that getting a release price like that, but keep dreaming.

Seriously, the (lack of) logic which part of humanity displays will never cease to amaze me.

Well, they keep saying ME4 is not a Shepard story and they also keep saying that they aren't doing anything with the ME3 endings. So with those 2 things in mind, I will not be purchasing ME4.

If it's in anyway like Mass Effect 3? No.
If they focus primarily on combat and little else? No.
If it's like ME1 or ME2? Maybe.

BioWare has a long way to go before they convince me drop $80 on another of their games.

I doubt it, though I haven't decided.

I refuse to play a prequel, and the only sequel that makes sense is if they make refusal canon. Otherwise there is no relays, and interstellar travel is really not feasible more than within a few star-systems.

Consider this: If FTL is a hundred times lightspeed, it will take a spaceship one thousand years to cross the galaxy. More, in fact, as you cannot pass through the core.

It is really too soon to say, for the most part.

All I can say is that I will definitely not bother with a prequel.

They don't need to fix anything. You might need to read the codex though. Most of the issues that people claim with this game are more a result of user error than with the game itself.

We've debated this before. I actually DO believe the ending is the result of indoc. The problem is, I do NOT believe that Bioware intended that interpretation. Further, as I pointed out before, if indoc is indeed what is happening, then the game is currently incomplete. Shepard wakes up in front of the beam...and then what? All Shepard did was resist the attempt. The galaxy is in every bit as much danger as it was prior to the dream.

Don't you see? that is the beauty of the ending. You get to make it up! Shep beats the indoc attempt and then you - the player - gets to imagine how it all ends! It is f*cking brilliant!

The best part is that you paid bioware to have this honor!! Genius!
