0 points in Shield Boost, huh? So much for the Volus being a support class. The Volus Vanguard should have never made it into the game.

IMO a Volus Protector build without any shield boost is a Mini-Kroguard

I think you just talked more ppl into going 0 in SB than talking them out of it [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Fitness on a kit that has two ways of quickly recovering shields and a poor base stat to start with? Nope. All my nope!

Agree 100%

21 character points for 325 shields and 100 health is a pretty poor use of character points IMO. I mean... that's 1/4 of your total build... for 325 shields? No reason ever to max fitness on a Volus.... 4/4 or 3/5 always.

Also... if you spec Orbs for 4 orbs and recharge rate and rock 200%, you can charge a Praetorian for every eye laser he puts out. The timing is a bit tricky (you have to charge early in the animation of the first laser)... but it will let you charge him 3 times.

1575 shields and a 40% DR after you charge... I wouldn't call that a poor use of points.
Like I said above a 66464 is also viable. I chose not to because - too busy killing stuff and don't have time to worry about being a support.

Id skip orbs and max out shield boost.

Spam Shield boost for max 90% damage reduction for you and the squad.

I would not use him again, but skipping Orbs would be a nice set-up.

I have to agree with 3/5 Shield Boost/Fitness.

Actually the recharge start time is helpful as you've heavy melee to buy an invul frame a bit of shield gate, if you don't get hit by the time your out of Heavy Melee your shields are charging on their own. This is useful for removing enemy DoT such as Warp or Atlas rocket fire.

This means you don't have to use shield boost, which means Charge is open for use, which means your still Vanguarding.

3 in Shield boost lets you spam it in those momments when you can charge smartly, like hacking or escort. Situtations where many Vanguards find themselves being much less helpful.

The only trick I'm struggling with is dealing with ranged combat, because there are times you don't want to charge. I'm thinking of redoing Orbs and skipping the 4th one in favor of 3 Expose orbs. At long ranges the need for Shield Boost is less pressing, and in late game it's sometimes more dangerous to charge then kite. +45% will still get you a low level Wraith shotgun assuming you too 20% weapon weight reduction, even if not its still good when combined with Equipment. This frees you to throw debuffing detonating orbs at bigger bosses with evil sync kills.
