A brief history lesson:

In the beginning, the acolyte had a charge, which many found annoying, but casters learned to use as an important aspect of power-use. (N.B.: many casters need to rapidly strip shields before their powers can be applied.) Casters were happy with the acolyte; most shooters were oblivious.

Then BW, in an attempt to fix the missile glitch, removed the acolyte charge mechanic.

Because it was now chargeless, shooters (having avoided the gun so far due to the annoying charge mechanic) stared using the acolyte en masse. Other shooters then noticed how effective it was, and, out of jealousy and pettiness, cried for nerfs (not understanding or caring about the effect this would have on casters).

BW then implemented a damage nerf, hoping to discourage shooters from using the acolyte on every kit. However, the damage nerf was not large enough to dissuade shooters from taking the acolyte as side-arm with their other OP guns. Many started threads claiming "lolwutacolytenerf".

Meanwhile, casters (adjusting to the new salutary effects of a chargeless mechanic) noticed that, to their dismay, the damage nerf meant that, on some enemies on gold+, a single acolyte shot left shields in place. This negatively affected their playstyle. The upshot was: the damage nerf hurt casters, but had no practical effect on shooters. Shooters neither noticed or cared about the nerf (see "lolwutacolytenerf", above) and kept using the gun. Thus, BW had caused the opposite of what was desired.

Just yesterday, BW reverted the acolyte back to its original form: annoying charge mechanic with the original damage. This, it is hoped, will have the effect of causing shooters to use the acolyte with discretion or not at all, while allowing casters to effectively use the gun as an important aid to power-use.

So it is written in the scrolls of BW, in the Year of Our Lord Fagnan.

(If you can propose a solution that keeps everyone happy, I'm all ears ;)

The thing is, Im complaying because i use it in almost every adept, and i never had problems with the nerf. I entered today to play with my new valkyre, and died a lot with the new old charge system. Thats why im complaining.

I'm happy the acolyte is back to the way it was. I haven't taken it out yet, since I was busy yesterday bowling with the volus and sniping with the drell. I'm sure I'll have to re-re-learn how to use it again, but I am MORE than happy to do so. Sorry if you consider it a nerf, but I'm sooooo happy to have it back to how it was.

Please explaing me why are you happy about it. Please, i just cant find a reason.

Coz it's cute and fun. Especially "Run and shoot" tactic.

What im saying is that playing as an adept with that gun now kinda sucks. For example, i used it in almost every adept. Acolyte + dark chanel + throw = kill anything. And i liked that.

Dark Channel does 100% damage against shields.

In fact only 1 power (Pull) doesn't work on Shields and only 2 have a modifier below 100% against shields (Warp and Reave).

I usually do not use L2P or ^this, but in this case, a big ^THIS is just required.

Couldn't agree more.  My Tech casters and Biotic casters are doing a happy dance now.  This thing is especially beast on a Geth Trooper flamer build or a vorcha flamer build

You want some cheese with that whine? Seriously, get the f*ck over it. The gun used to be a charge weapon anyways and it worked fine. BioWare doesn't appease to one butthurt little girl whining on the forum, so get over it. Eric Fagnan asked people whether they wanted the charge back or not on one of my threads, and most people said they wanted it back, so there, put up with it. Blame me for having them bring the charge mechanic back. Here's proof:

I preferred it with the charge anyway. Along with the Graal, the Acolyte is the only gun that you can charge and fire from the hip without breaking your sprint. Worked great on the Fury before they changed it.

Let's sum up the balance changes in a way that people will understand:

Acolyte pistol
- Base damage increased from [378.0-441.0] to [420.2-490.0]
- Added charge mechanic - No longer fires instantly
- Rate of fire increased from 40 to 60
- Minimum fire time changed from 1 to unknown (1 still?)
- Encumbrance remains at [0.50-0.20]
- Nothing helped with the missile launcher exploit.

Or, in the grand scheme of things

Acolyte pistol
- Damage remains the same.
- Firing mechanic remains the same.
- Rate of fire remains the same.
- Weight remains the same.
- Still compatible with a ban-worthy exploit.

There is no problem with the acolyte. I'm sorry you don't get to have your featherweight bucket load of damage, and stagger without any drawbacks but... Did you really need it? If you're using a shooty class, there's a nice gun that does pretty much the same thing already. It's called the Falcon. It does a little less damage up front but has a much larger magazine. Try it on a Destroyer, you might surprise yourself.

Or hell. The Acolyte weighs only 0.2. You can equip it as a side arm to pretty much any gun you please and barely see a difference in your cooldown times. Except now it doesn't take forever to switch to it and back. Almost as if this was the way it was meant to be used! Remember. +200% cooldown speed is overrated.

EDIT: To be clear— with a rate of fire of 60, you can switch to the gun, start charging it, fire ASAP, reload, and switch away with the charge time being your only delay. With the charge mechanic you can fire the weapon in the middle of Biotic Charge, or while spraying an enemy with Flamer. If you fully comprehend these advantages, you'll see why so many players call it a buff.

It's a nerf to accessibility, but a buff to maximum potential.

I think the title explains it. WHY THE F**K BIOWARE!!. Hated the Acolyte when it had the charge ****, then they change it, and it was really good for adepts, now they change it again, AND THAT SUCKS!
Come on, is the only gun in the game that dosent fire when you pull the trigger. It gets you kill the charge time!
So yes, really really angry about that! Congratulations Bioware, you managed to f**k up one of the best guns!! Nerfs for everyone!!!!!

So basically you're saying that you are incompetent with the gun and therefore it must suck. It's not that damn hard to learn to use a gun, it only takes 1-2 games. <_<

no. U r so wrong. Taking the charge away was a nerf. Putting it back was the best thing they could ever do for that gun. Learn it and love it, otherwise walk away and figure something else out. <_<

I always preferred the charge. I got used to the nerfed version (and I considered the removal of the charge to be a nerf), but I'll get re-used to the charging version. It's still a phantom killer. Using it is no different than using the arc pistol, kishock, gps, graal, or any other charging weapon...and it now works the same way it does in single player again.

And just so you know, there won't be any changes for awhile (3 weeks), so cry a river during that time, the Acolyte is staying a charge weapon.

It's not that bad, just adapt to it. Is the ROF the problem or the fact that you have to hold down the mouse button for an extra second?
The gun still does its job, it's not supposed to be the Carnifex,

Which, by the way should be put back to its former 0.5 weight. Considering that the Arc Pistol is now a great gun, that people have advanced in their UR progression, and that some players are lost without the easy-Acolyte.

I knew BSN was going to be a sh*tstorm when they changed the gun back. Now everyone can cry about it.
