I always wondered about the tattoo-stuff in DA & 2. When you customise a charachter, you are able to give him/her a facial tattoo. Now, I understand that carries a symbolic connotation among the Elven community and I'm all ok with that. The DA lore also said that this is a custom that has been adapted by many other faces too, such as humans. I'm ok with this too. However, what I do have a "problem" with, is that the choice of tattoos are only limited ot the facial region.
I mean, consider this, if a your player character is "a big bad, mean, rough, tough scary, intimidating and menacing dude/broad who spots a big, vicious tattoo across his/her face, how likely is it that this is the ONLY area he/she has covered in ink? If you look at most people with face tattoos, I dare say that an extremley overwhelming majority of these started out with tattoos in other places than their faces and this have tattoos in other places. Why do we not have this option in DA as well? It does seem like an realistic/reasonable feature to include that should be doable by the programmers.
I understand that there is this aspect of the face being the most visible part during the game, and that arms etc. are usually covered by armour. Still, there are plenty of instances when this is not the case. There are also some armours which may leave the Pc's arms exposed.
Perhaps this could be something to consider including as a customisable option for the PC in DA 3? Just a thought...

I would settle for scars. And darker shades for tattoos. Look at my avatar here. It looks like someone put a stencil on his face when he fell asleep in the sun.
I think scars is an excellent idea.

As far as tattoos go, I see it as a necessity to be able to put them on more parts of the body in order to provide for better customisation immestion, I.E. if you want your amazon warrior PC to have that large lower back tattoo or if you want your pirate thug PC to have that sailor-like arm tattoo. Helps set the tone of the statement you want to give your PC.
I don't see why not. I know that customization is a big focus for DA3, so I'll bounce it off some people more in the know. Remind me on the 27th >.>

It's possible that it'd be an easier sell if they could be used regardless of the player's sex, though.
Depends on how the system is implemented I guess.
