I would settle for scars. And darker shades for tattoos. Look at my avatar here. It looks like someone put a stencil on his face when he fell asleep in the sun.

I think scars is an excellent idea.

Maybe topic for a thread of its own, but would it be possible to implement scars the same way "Fable" intdended to do? I.E. that scars are ompleneted across the game as a result of battle?

As far as tattoos go, I see it as a necessity to be able to put them on more parts of the body in order to provide for better customisation immestion, I.E. if you want your amazon warrior PC to have that large lower back tattoo or if you want your pirate thug PC to have that sailor-like arm tattoo. Helps set the tone of the statement you want to give your PC.

Can you also make more left side/right side face tattoos perhaps? Symmetrical ones get boring fast in my opinion and look quite ugly.

I used tattoos in origins a lot, but by DA 2 i would look at the default version of lady Hawke and decided that life couldn't possibly get any better than this. So never tried to improve on perfection. Now that i get to play Mass Effect on PS3 , the idea of scars i like as it really does add character to my various fem shepard's and helps me buy in to Shepard's back story, which sounds like the equivalent of the battle of Mirbat.

As long as we get less symetrical tattoos i'll be happy.

I don't see why not.  I know that customization is a big focus for DA3, so I'll bounce it off some people more in the know.  Remind me on the 27th >.>

Maybe take some of the more popular spots per sex and allow tattoo's there. Example: Shoulder, back, neck, head, arm for men. Back, ribs, legs, arms, hip for women

It's possible that it'd be an easier sell if they could be used regardless of the player's sex, though.

Depends on how the system is implemented I guess.

Please, No other Skyrim.. Tattoos? Image IPB Maybe some of NPCs but I dont want to see in every corner different NPCs who have different tattoos.. Human should get less, Dalish should have more different tattoos and Dwarves less too.. Qunaris have also tattoos on the entire body, I think its cool and fits them..
How will a naked Qunari with no tattoos in the streets look like at nights? Hmm.. Image IPB
One bandit had a very cool tattoo in DA2, He confronted me in ACTIII I think.
So what i think: The focus shouldnt be on tattoos, just a lil bit

It'd be fun to have a scar that suggests a night out to the brothel went really wrong. And a tattoo. Nothing says 'bad-nights' than waking up with a butterfly tattoo on your cheek.

We need them.

If Dalish and dwarven tattoos can't be used on humans, and casteless tattoos can't be used on Aeducans, how will we know which posters to ignore based solely on their avatar on the BSN?

Pfft... pugs and their opinions.

Dear Allan,

May we trouble you for an update on this question? :)

Along with a wider variety of tattoos, I could go with more makeup options. Like, have all sorts of face-covering facepaint or something.

I also would like some scar options, in addition to more asymmetrical tattoos.

Any news about this for DA3? Will/can it be a feature?

More broad in scope for tattoos, and addition of scars is a great idea i think

I want a jagged scar that runs across my PC's jaw. That would be glorious! i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k504/peopleofthedas/Macros/GLORIOUS.jpg

I would prefer facial scars, like you could get for Shepard in ME1 before ME2 ruined it.

It made my Paragon Femshep look more hardcore with a massive scar stretching across half her face, physically showed she's seen a lot of action.

I think it would be interesting to have an opportunity in-game to get tattoo'ed with a buddy.

Example: Carver and Varric have been drinking in the Hanged Man. You plop down to play a round of cards with them. Carver loses everything and wants a chance to win his money back. Varric says he'll deal him in for another hand if he lets Varric pick him a tattoo of his choice if he loses. Carver goes in and loses. Everyone's well tipsy by this point and the three of you decide to get tats together.

Cut to a Black Emporium-esque screen where you select a tattoo which you'll keep for the rest of the game. If you cancel, Carver and Varric give you a hard time about it and you lose a small amount of approval points with each. :)

I want to put in a view from the other side of the coin:

I personally loathe tattoo's with a passion, I find them almost repulsive on people and really hate how they're spreading into our culture as an "awesome" and "normal" thing to get, as I find them to be horrible and not in the least bit artistic (I've seen many tattoo's, and I have only seen 1 I find moderately okay). How they've spread rife through our culture is due in part to this pathetic "celebrity" culture that has grown up, which is something else I hate. This may seem like an old aged notion and view, but it's one I have, so my request is this; please do not force us to play as a character covered in Tattoo's -or- force us to get them. I am fine with people getting the opportunity to have one as per brushyourteeth's comment above, but if we were to go with her suggestion, then could we have an option to not get one or to have optional content instead of them in a tatoo parlour.

I can understand that there are people who really want them to be added and I respect that, but there are some of us who really hate them too and really do not want to be forced to get them.

I'm quite happy about War Paint though that you can choose to remove. :)
