I created a Nord "hunter" the other day and used the face paint and was able to make it look like blood. That kinda stuff is awesome and just can't do it with tattoos.

Another idea, would it be possible to realease more tattoos as part of an "Alternative Appearance Pack" in the future?

I think that we should be allowed to choose placement for the tattoos too, i.e. upper/lower arms, upper/lower backs, chest, face etc. Placement to the left/right etc.

If freaking FABLE on the original Xbox can handle full-body tattoos, I should hope a 360 game made by a much better developer can handle it too.

I know! And many games with old engines can do this as well, such as GTA San Andreas, and all the old Saint's Row games. I really see no argument as to why there would be "technical restrictions" against implementing that feature in DA III as well, especially since they are switching to the brand new, hyper-modern Frostbite-engine.

I liked using tats for my mages. However I hated most of the tattoo styles. They looked a little too "pro-wrestler".

I always found it strange that Isabela was bereft of tattoos, considering she was rather roguish and all and a sailor/pirate to boot! Then again, due to some hair-brained idea to always keep the charachters fully clothed, even in their most intimate moments, we never did find out if she hid any tattoos elsewhere on unseen locations. ;)

Conversely, Merrill, who was rather whimpish and meek, had her face covered in tattoos. I would otherwise have pictured her as the type who would shreik at the thought of having a needle anywhere near her face.(yes, I am aware that it is a customary thing for many elfs, but still...)

I wonder if there is any thought about this perceived dissonance for the prospective companions for DA III?

Does anyone know if the new Frostbyte III engine is more permissive when it come to letting the charachters have tattoos? It ought to be, as some other user said, even the Fable games let you have them and those engine are ancient by today's standards.

in this case it has nothing to do with the engine... it's all about textures... they could use frostbite and still have crappy textures... as you may know the armor textures were worse in DA2 than they were in DA:O... so much for that ^^

If the textures are not contingent on the engine, then what will make it work?

I wouldn't mind body tattoos in DA3, no big deal if not though.

For body tatoos there would have to be sexy revealing armor... thumbs up if that prevents puffy overdone fashion from happening ^^

True, but I'm sure that would be easy to pull off. It's been done in many MAAAANY games, so I don't why would have to be an exception. Some armour could even be "magical" so that the player is protected by an aura if you wear a revealing robe etc. Also, I could consider a solution similar to the one with the helmet, namly a selection in settings that allows the player whether or not to have the helmet (or armour) visible even though it is indeed "equipped". This would allow us to admire the "physique" of our charachters to a greater extent while playing. Image IPB

I also think that Bioware should design it so that it would be possible to add more tattoo though DLCs kater on, or perhaps even through mods. Wouldn't be awsome if one could import one's own tattoo designs on one's charachters? Image IPB Really hope Bioware is listning in on this one! (fingers crossed).

I support tattoos and scars.

I do too, I want BioWare to get really creative with it.

Personally, I like scars more than tattoos, but this is also a consequence of some pretty poor tattoo options in DAO and DA2. I really liked the variety of facial tattoos and colors in Kingdoms of Amalur & would totally be into an equivalent in DAI.

Even though my avatar has a tattoo and I do like them, I'm more interested in scars. I think they're a terrific way of adding more roleplaying value to the game and can add a lot of character to your, well characters. Especially considering we're getting some sort of background options back.

I wholeheartedly support this idea, however. More tattoos in more places is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I wish all games had a character creator similar to the one in Saint's Row the Third.

Or hell,  even Dragon's Dogma - I mean, you can set everything from your height, weight, arm size, stature, scars (body and/or face) and even the size of your ta-tas. And the cutscenes and armor shows all of it. If those games can figure this issue out, why can't BioWare? Maybe the new engine will help this.

Whoa, tangent, sorry about that. I'd like body tattoos or scars, for sure. It doesn't make sense to not have the option.

At least give us the option to create a woman who doesn't look anorexic. A woman who actually has curves for God's sake. Allen's comment in this thread about scars pleases me though. I've been waiting for scars to make their way into the CC since Origins. Scars, a blind eye, more skin complexions (not just young - old) and better tattoos would be all I want.

Would be good if they added different heights and body types too. NWN was the only game of theirs that I've played that had this. With SWTOR having it (a more recent game of theirs) then perhaps it goes to stand that we might see customization options like this implemented into Inquisition. With the lacking races we need more customization.

Tattoo customisation will be an option in GTA V, it will be used as an in-game feature (an this even includes full body tattoos, not just facial ones). It would be cool if DA III would have that feature as well. If the GTA V engine can handle it, I'm sure a modern engine such as the new Frostbite engine could handle it without a hitch. Also, it appeats to a "less-advanced" feature for the programmer to implement so I don't see a reason *not* to have tattoos as an optional feature for you player charachter in DA III.

It's possible that it'd be an easier sell if they could be used regardless of the player's sex, though.

Depends on how the system is implemented I guess.

Implement it like Firefall's Warpaint Pattern/Decal system, i.e. overlay texture. I mean it's not too difficult, is it? Just a texture with alpha that you can move over the mane mody diffuse. It's an easy way to get extremely customizable. Especially if you allow it to turn and scale like Firefall does.

I personally couldn't care less for Tatoos, I just want a proper action combat like in KoA: Reckoning. And preferably with ability to switch and play as teammates on the fly.
