I've heard Cullen enough. I get it, you like him, etc, etc. No judgment on you, but I don't want this particular thread filled with Cullen.
I'm wondering what you guys want to see. Go as crazy as you want. Which new companions would you like in your party?
Me, personally, I would love to encounter seven-years-older Connor Guerrin. I think it'd be cool to see who he turns into. I know with the choice aspect of that it might be a little frustrating, but that's where my mind is.
What about the rest of y'all?
New Companions you want to see (Besides Cullen)

Cassandra, Feynriel, Maraas, Bianca (the Dwarf), and.... and....
There are others, but I can't think of their names at the moment.

Feynriel might be a little tricky just due to the sheer POWER that he has, but I would love to see him too.
Maraas I hadn't considered. It's about time we got a Qunari companion again.

A rogue that thinks he the the best rogue in the world but appears to be a real clutz, except for when it counts.
A dwarf, Don't care how or why, it just wouldn't feel right without at least one dwarf in the group.
No dogs! I want a big cat! Tired of the camp/house smelling like wet dog.
A Trevinter mage that turns out to actually a nice guy/gal. The entire kingdom/empire can't be 100% villians.
Please for the love of the Maker, only one team mate or less is to have that annoying Orlesian accent. That way I can leave em at camp/home. I'm making burnt offerings daily that the PC does not have this accent.

COLE
Aside from him, I really don't mind. A Tevinter magister would be interesting.

Someone new.
Obviously, if they're someone new I can't tell you much about them.
But we will be best friends!

I kinda want Shale back. That dwarf magic scholar girl might be interesting.

I am all for a tevinter mage of some kind, maybe a side quest that takes you back to the mage tower from DA:O to free the person trapped in the tevinter statue. Maybe its his girlfriend and in the meantime your female character either has an affair with him or falls in love with him and your amount of interaction forces him to make a choice between you and her. that would be good.

A dwarven mad scientist a la Walter Bishop of 'Fringe'.

Or if your playing a male character then the girl freed from the statue becomes a companion and has relations with you and the mage and your amount of interaction either forces the mage to leave or the girl or maybe both.

A female Kossith and a female dwarf. Sigrun would be nice, but a new one is fine

Feynriel would be a really awesome companion, but I think perhaps too unique for it, at the same time.
I stated this in the other thread, but I believe we need companions who represent the templar, mage, and Chantry sides of things in an even manner. Possibly the Circle side, too. I would like to see a blood mage who wasn't stupid. I would like to see a more unique Qunari--Sten is one of my favorite BioWare characters ever, but he represents the regular Qunari, with no variation. I'd love to see a follower of the Qun (or perhaps a defector) that was different.

I'd like to see a grown up Bevin who becomes an adventurer with his grampa's sword. (I got that card nearly every game). A grown up Connor would be cool too.
Since there are few actual returning companions I'd like to see, I'll put what kind of archtype I'm looking for.
1) A Grey Warden (not THE Warden) who isn't necessarily one we've already encountered, but a new face. Orlais is supposed to house the biggest population of wardens in Thedas, so encountering/befriending one would be interesting. Especially if you can romance him/her and the Calling comes up, making for an interesting and heartbreaking dilemma.
2) Grizzled older warrior type, ready to hang up his spurs (similar to Keldorn of BG2, my fave companion) going on one last great adventure with the Protagonist. Who dreams of past glories and has lots of interesting tales to tell by the fireside. One of the things I liked about Leliana was all the interesting lore/tales she had to talk about. Kind of wished I'd gotten to see Varric doing the same.
Not really hung up on races, but if we get a dwarf I want him/her to be as smooth/interesting as Varric/Sigrun, not an annoying drunkard like Oghren. The ability to romance said smooth talking dwarf would be awesome as well. Maybe Dagna.

Regalyan! He's a sane mage with a sense of humor... and his last known whereabouts were Orlais.

For new characters:
A Tal-Vashoth Saarebas. Having one one provide some more insight into the Qunari culture from the perspective of one who was a part of it and rejeted it. It would also be an interesting offer a new perspective on the Mage/Templar war from someone who has really suffered as a Mage.
A Chasind Barbarian. We don't know much about the Chasind and raging barbarians are always fun.
A Chevalier that does his or her best to embody the Knight-in-Shining-Armor archetype despite the cutthroat world of Orlesian politics.
A human with one elven parent. They could offer some unique insight into Alienage culture and the human/elf conflict.
A Mustache-Twirling-Evil Tevinter Magister. Cackling megolomaniacal villains can be very fun if done well (See Edwin from Baldur's Gate).
As for returning characters, Varric, Cassandra, Cullen, and Tallis would probably work best. Feynriel would be interesting, but likely won't be a party member due to the variety of things that could happen to him in 2 and the foolish decision retain the import feature.
