So long as these companions are entirely dependant on player choice. You side with the Chantry, you gain Cassandra; side with the mages, Evangeline and/or Rhys and so forth.
I'd really like to avoid a repeat of DA2 where my Hawke couldn't simply do this: "Knight-Captain Cullen, I have vital information regarding a dangerous Abomination hiding in Darktown as well as an entrance to the Gallows that apostates have been using and a maleficar that hids amongst the elves of the alienage."

I'd like to see new characters.
But if I'm to pick from characters from DAO -> DA2 then I'd pick Shale and Velanna.

Having Cassandra as a companion would just feel weird unless they had a very good and believable back story why she as a Seeker and the Right hand of the Divine would follow some random guy.

Besides Cullen (sorry, I couldn't help it), anyone that is at least referenced in previous games and/or novels would be fine. New faces will surely come and will be most welcomed, but familiar faces are awesome, too. I love a bit of continuity.

I don't hate him, I just find that what little I've seen of him in DA:O and DA2 wasn't that exciting. He's about as dull as any other Templar. The Templars are generally po-faced, Alistair excluded (he's fun), or else they're insane cartoon lunatics, like Ser Otto Alrik.

I think a tevinter Mage would have a cool perspective. He would probably look down at circle mages that ever allowed themselves to be controled. He also would be more open to blood magic. Another companion that I would like to see is a nihilistic bounty hunter. Their character class would either have to be warrior or dual welding rogue. He would also have facial scars.

Cassandra. I want to know more about the Divine's right hand.

A Tevinter Magister who wants to change the culture of Tevinter -- eliminate slavery, dissolve the power of the Magisters, eliminate the prolific use of blood magic for personal gain, and give a Tevinter perspective on the Mage-Templar war.

Tallis. I don't think the entire game will concern the Mage-Templar war. Can't forget about the Qunari conflicts. Love to listen to the banter between her and a Tevinter Magister.

An Orlesian Noble or Chevalier that is somehow involved with the Civil War conflict.

A Kirkwaller or Free Marcher that can bring us up to speed on the impact of Hawke's decision, advocating for or against the decision Hawke made. Maybe they can also tell us what the Prince of Starkhaven has been up to.

A Grey Warden. One perhaps sent by the Grey Wardens to feel out the Mage-Templar conflict, or one who volunteers to end it. I want to know what the Grey Wardens are up to. What urgent business they're now conducting.

Anybody else would just be gravy. I can't wait to see what the official companion list looks like though.

I hope that if he was executed in the landsmeet Ferelden gets decimated and conquered by Orlais because he wasn't around to stop it. Then everybody blames the Warden for killing Loghain and he is torn apart in a mass riot

Oh yeah, because he was such a great military leader.

Actually, I hope to see Loghain again … as a possessed corpse. I got a good laugh from the first time and I could use a few more guffaws.

That's possible.  I just thought she'd be interesting because of the whole spirit posession thing.  That, and as a former Templar who supports the mages she seems like she'd be an interesting companion.

Other than that - A Tevinter Magister. Preferably one without malice that can give us logical and reasonable insight into the political workings of the Tevinter Imperium.

(No, I don't want to tow around a malicious, slave devouring, egotistically insane Tevinter Magister with delusions of grandeur. That will simply reinforce the Imperium's reputation of "evil", which would be shallow and uninteresting)

Definitely Tevinter magister. Him/her being hot, decent person and not overly crazy as everyone claims whole Tevinter is. As if. Evil mages everywhere, right?

No dlc companion from previous games. I know its hard to accept, but there are still some who doesn't like to pay for new character. So keep that in mind. I don't know who is this Sebastian fellow. Plot dlc is fine, but I don't really fancy this buying character thing. .

So alienage elf rogue. Cynical, tough. Not another Tali type. After Merrril I have enough of Dalish. (thought I would love to play as one).

And suppose they will give us templar as a tank. But not Cullen. Too forced. He cant be everywhere. Would be great to see new grey warden too.

And yep they should all be new.
