Perhaps.

I didn't use them much at all in Mass Effect 2 though. Mainly just on the Reaper Larvae if I was playing a class that was poor vs bosses.

In this game they do give you Hydras and Spitfires when you are in a section that might benefit from them. Not that they do all that often. Largely I wouldn't say that the level design or the opposing force composition really requires it. It feels to me like in general we fight less enemies this time around, and the are spaced further apart.

I don't like how the weapons we did end up with were balanced and think this was a bigger issue than the lack of heavy weapons. And I don't like that if I mod the files to make my own decent weapon balance I run the risk of causing problems in MP and getting banned.

The plethora of ridiculous power combos completely moots the purpose of heavy weapons in ME3. Maybe if they kept the defense mechanics from ME2 heavy weapons would be more relevant, but as they are, I only use them out of boredom, even if that is just to carry them from one end of a mission to another.

I have to agree. With even Soldiers having easy access to combos there's no place for HW in ME3.

I'm sure MP also had something to do with it. Everybody would have screamed for heavies in MP if they had been limited to SP, but including them would have made MP (even more) impossbile to balance.

Overall, I've never really missed them.

But you do get heavy weapons in MP.  The Cobra missile, which is better than the Hydra largely.  And you get 5-8 shot capacity. :)

I know, but that's fairly tightly controlled and costs you consumables. It's not like carrying around a Cain you could refill at every ammo box. Posted Image

I don't miss HW. Actually I've never used them since my third insanity ng+ playthrough in me2. Yet I was forced to use it on Hades Cannon !! PRE ORDER CANCELLEED

The only thing I really missed about HW in ME3 was collecting them and looking at them in the inventory as proud owner.
I didn't use them that much in ME2 really.

The trouble with using heavy weapons, was that their ammo was very limited.
I saved it for boss encounters. Even then I was stingy with them.
Nevertheless I'd rather have them than not have them.

Some of the heavy weapons are around in the form of light weapons.

Collector Particle Beam --->  Prothean Particle Rifle
Grenade Launcher ----> Falcon
Firestorm Flamethrower ---> Reegar Carbine
Arc Projector ---> Arc Pistol (sort of)

So very true RedCaesar97.
That's why I love the Vorcha Sentinel!
(I don't have Vorcha Soldier or Geth Trooper yet)

Revenant w/ Inferno ammo was always a better flamethrower than the Firestorm. Or so I was told. :)

It's not that HW are gone for good, they just aren't in your arsenal anymore but lay around on the battlefield when you might need them.
Imho that's a not so bad solution.
In ME2 I was very carful with the use of my HW, likely ending a mission without ever using it cause I waited too long for the right moment.
In ME3 I know I gonna need the HW lying there in front of me soon.

I hardly ever used the HW in ME2 and with ME3, class combos are so easy what with cooldown reduction, you probably won't ever need it. Plus I didn't like the aesthetics of carrying around a HW all the time in ME2, always something stuck on Shep's back =(

I wouldn't mind Heavy Weapons making a return to the arsenal.

But I'd like to impose the same rules as with other weapons

Upgrades
2 mod slots
Being able to take ammo powers/mods
Having ammo powers/mods alter the animations

I would LOVE Heavy Weapons for MP.
Just randomly droped on the maps, maybe some more enemies to compensate.

The Cobra is more powerfull than any HW and you carry 5(6?) of them per player.
So spawning 4 HW on a "kill 4 enemies" objective wouldn't even be that much unbalanced I think. And it would spice up the most boring objective a bit.

I never used heavy weapons in Mass Effect 2, and I always wished I could remove them. Whenever I choose to play ME2 now, I used a mod that removes them from the game completely. However, the option to use heavy weapons in ME3 should have been there for people that enjoyed using them. Optional and removable, like the other weapons in ME3.

I feel the same.

Though unfortunately...I played on the Xbox and couldn't mod out the heavy weapons in ME2.

I agree, although I did have a nicely painted red and yellow armour set that looked good with a Firestorm strapped to the back in Mass Effect 2. She was an Engineer because I was playing Dead Space at the time.

I prefer heavy weapons as one-time uses similar to ME3. But I would prefer more moments to use them.

Most of the time in ME2, I carry the Avalanche, as I imagine it as being a jetpack or thruster pack that Shepard can use in case of zero gravity situations, lol. Other than that, I don't use HWs much.
