Ok I have a very irritating issue here, I have the Ai turned off completly because I find that it makes terrible decisions anyways. During combat If I select any charcter and move them every other charcter (and no they are not selected just the one single charcter) well all suddenly decide they should stop attacking and play follow the leader. This is awfully annoying as I will try to do something simple as have Neeshka step away (since she uses a bow) and Khelgar pull aggro off the mob attacking her but the game just won't let me since everyone else just starts following her. I mean I have the ai off they should be a drooling mess when I don't give them commands why are they moving on their own???

As I understand it, the way it works is that each character you switch to becomes the "leader". If you previously issued an order with that character such as "follow me", then any time you switch to that character, the party will stop what they're doing and follow you. The solution would be to issue the "attack" command with that character. (Quick keys V-W-E).

I have never used any of the voice commands that is why I play with ai off so I can manually select each charcter and micromanage them.

Instead of playing with AI off, try using the "puppet mode" setting. The tooltip says that this is the mode for players who don't want the companions to take any actions on their own.

tl;dr : I find i have to select/cycle through all characters after turning the AI off, to get them to register Puppet mode
