The Crusader is harshly outclassed

It also works wonders against phantoms. Throw warp to make them put up their bubble and stand still, then headshot. Or if she's already in a decent position to shoot, I can use overload to take care of the barrier and then headshot. I find this to be even more effective against phantoms on gold than the almighty Acolyte (come to think of it, if the Crusader didn't weigh so much it'd be a great weapon for an asari stasis sniper). Might be a problem on host though due to the Phantom's DR, but I almost never host.
I think the main reason why I like this shotgun is because I don't like shotguns. So I like this one precisely because it's so unlike all the others. I also have it at VIII and it gives me a place to use my gigantic pile of Shotgun Rail Amps (which otherwise just gather dust because as I said, I don't like shotguns).

The ONLY factor you didn't consider is the Crusader's innate .5m Penetration. This means, without AP modstuffs, it can kill guardians. The Black Widow is .25, and none of the other weapons you mentioned have it.
Having said that... in this weapon's weight class, I'm using an HVB anyways... Crusader is pretty lame... MOST maps on this game, the range it has over shotguns is negligible. To go by an aforementioned scenario in this thread: Dagger. Smart Choke on a Claymore can one-shot any mook on the map from the array. There are really very few maps where this range is a factor.
So I agree that the Claymore is outclassed. However, I don't think reducing the weight has much merit. If you do that, then it is in the same weight class as the Saber, which is .6 less than Crusader (both X). The buff this machine needs is not simple.
What it needs is a niche. Here's what I think... seeing as this thing fires a single slug, and what is likely the biggest, heaviest round of all weapons in multiplayer... this thing should have a massive innate force behind every shot. This thing should toss mooks like a Concussive Shot. 500N at lvl I, and 1000 N at X. This is how you fix this gun. Stagger a Phantom on Platinum with a shot? 2 shots to stagger a boss? THERE is your niche. THEN the lag is justified. If this thing sends stuff flying upon death, even that alone would make it worth using at lower difficulties fortehlulz. Then, people would become good with it, and you'd see randoms use it.
Granted, this would require a patch, but I think it would be an easy addition to the overdue patch ME3 MP is likely going to be subject to in the near future anyways.
Thoughts?

Just fix the aim/lag thingy and it'll own.
This guy's got it. I like the gun, it's the aiming mechanic that screws it over so bad. There's no way in hell I should be able to miss any enemy's torso at point blank with a shotgun if my aiming reticule is over said enemy's torso when I pull the trigger. A needlessly convoluted aiming mechanic that needs to go.

I outscored Ashen Earth and Biggs in a Gold game using a Crusader VI (I'm a scrub compared to those guys)... it can't be all that bad.
If you use it as a close range shotgun, hipfiring it like you do the Raider... it actually works really freakin good. On an Infiltrator with Phasic rounds, I've been able to OSK shielded enemies with it... it also takes to wall hacking with a GI very well.
All the long range stuff is a bonus IMO. It takes a second to line up good long range shots with it... but what other shotgun can do that? Very few, if any. When I say "long range shots" I mean out of the Array on Dagger and into the spawns, or across Hydra.
I think alot of people get hung up on trying to make every shot hit... just put it in the enemy's face and let it rip as fast as you can.... it'll surprise you.
It could use a SLIGHT weight reduction. Weapons that have that kind of power/range aren't going to give you +150% recharge rate...
Stopped reading the thread at this point.
Nothing else needs saying, perfectly put.

Could you imagine? Adding a force of 500-1,000N to the shots of the Crusader would be HILARIOUS. Flinging mooks around the map with a shotgun? I think MP needs this.

EDIT: Just to be clear, the statement was simultaneously entirely true, and also a joke. I hate my Crusader X. I have nightmares about weekend ops giving me Crusader XIs.

I can understand people not liking it. It is really heavy and has a high learning curve. It plays very similar to a graal or kishock in the fact that you have to lead the target. Honestly, it plays more like a gun IRL than any other in the game.
We'll bang ok?
I'll even agree to leave my Saber in the car if you take the Paladin out from under your pillow

It's UR. It's also hard to use. Of course it isn't commonly used.
you should have seen it before ( I think?) three pretty significant buffs and a shield gate overhaul.
so bad.

We do need to play together sometime. I have said in a thread that go locked for reasons I don't understand that I have given up my paladin for the Valiant X.

RC + Wallhack + Quickscoping is sooooooooo fun!

After using my kids Valiant X... I converted. It's a great weapon. I was mildly pleased to get a Valiant VIII today.
