Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but many of the Adepts seem to be really pathetic

I don't understand why anybody bothers with any of the Adepts other than the Fury. She is the perfect killing machine.

Did you ever play the Justicar and the Drell to their full potential? I agree they Fury is a beast but the Justicar and the Drell are in the same league. Just a different playstyle.

66644 you need some extra shields and health and power damage doesn't increase BE dmg i recommend this for most 666 BE adepts and +30% shields permanent gear, your lacking durability not fire power on adepts...

Actually, with the PA, I often find myself killing purely with powers (Singularity, Smash, Lash) as opposed to BEs. The extra power damage does come in handy. You can make yourself tankier using gear/consumables, or just use soft cover a lot more.

Personal preference is all.

WOW?!? REALLY?!?

From this alone, I'm going to have to say that it's not the class that's pathetic, OP...

Or wait, was that sarcasm?

Either way, Adept's don't suck, lrn2play

ouch.
either way it's true, adepts don't suck.
PM me if you're really interested in some good builds.

Balanced build. Cast Singularity first to prime targets and then smash the hell out of them for multiple detonations. Use Lash on Phantoms or any enemy that has one more shot on you to kill you and destroy them.

Disagree. Singularity is one of the best powers in the game and will easily kill with its DoT if you shield-strip with an Acolyte.

PhoenixDept build...66653 or bust imo.

Personally I prefer the 66653 but the OP's comments seems as if he/she is not a big fan of singularity.

HA and PA are excellent after the Singularity buffs. DA is even better w/ the over-budgeted grenade gear out. AJ is still a strong offense/defense + primer mix of a kit. AA is still good even if Stasis isn't as useful/unique as it was in the past. KSA is a powerful close-mid range tanky biotic that can also be decent as a weapon-focused tank. BSA is like a tankier, less mobile DA who doesn't need grenades as heavily if you spec Lash. Fury is amazing and unique, if risky to use. VolA.. is the only 'bleh' one, imo.

Pistols + Pistol UML mod (Acolyte esp), Pirahna, Wraith, Indra, Hurricane/Hornet, Mattock- all great guns for classes that don't want a heavy loadout.

As a whole, Adepts are still pretty freaking good.

Stasis bubble is an excellent power. I'm surprised at how many people dis it. Even on higher levels it basically removes all smaller annoyances that can be a big problem under certain circumstances. It's also a fire and forget power when in a decent group dynamic. My Asari adept and vangaurd, stasis everything that can be stasis'd and it makes it easier in most cases for the rest of the team to take opponents down quick.

I've tried the Asari Adept, with builds other than Warp>Throw (since the Human Sentinel does that better). Stasis>Throw is completely ineffective against armored targets. Speccing for both Stasis and Warp is ineffective against anything.

What am I doing wrong? These powers just seem to be a really bad combination together.

Then, there's the Phoenix Adept. The Vanguard is fine, with a viable build that involves the ability that his counterpart doesn't have. I've tried speccing into singularity on the Adept, and I can only conclude that it's a totally useless class. Singularity is a mediocre power against anything with armor, and Lash is awesome, but also a mediocre power against armor. A Smash and Lash build seems really pointless, considering his bro the Vanguard has both those abilities.

Is there any good build for the Phoenix Adept that involves Singularity?

Singularity is one of the best powers on the game, and it works pretty well against armor.  Not sure how you're playing, but you should hit something with Singularity and then either Lash it if it's floating or Smash the **** out of it if it isn't.  The Phoenix Adept is great against every type of enemy, and his only weakness is that 2 of this 3 powers have extremely long animations that leave you vulnerable to gunfire.

EDIT:  Yes, the Asari Adept feels a little lackluster now.  You basically need to use Stasis bubble on anything that isn't armored and Warp/Throw against anything that is.  Banshees and Praetorians can be big problems because they cancel out your powers, and so you have to bring a good weapon.  At least a Talon or Paladin is necessary.

Adepts are my favourite class overall. And because I love talking about them and I always have a great fun and success when playing as them, I'm going to share all my builds with you! :D

I hope this was useful! :)

Very unorthodox builds still i prefer the classic 66644 on human and asari

66644 got too boring for me on those classes. :P

i had to solo that last 3 rounds of a gold match with the Justicar the other day and i was impressed at how easily the kit handled the situation. good balance between survivabilty and dmg output.

Exactly this.
I thought i was useless at golds, but through testing bulds i managed to tail some adepts in my playing style.
Also i was trained through this.

I've seen some amazing adepts, but I can't do it. I'm not so great at infiltrators, either. Both too squishy for me and mine. We're way too gung-ho. We like having our finger on the button, so that if one of us is in trouble, the others can roll in quickly as the cavalry. Things like certain soldier builds (hello geth and havoc), kroguards, and the like really work well for that.

But yeah. I've seen some incredible adepts. Can I play one? Noap! It makes me sad, too, becausde I have a volus adept and he's adorable. I love him. I like small, pudgy characters. It's why I play the popori in TERA. Alas, I just can't play him.

Trying results in: faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant faceplant

They just aren't tanky enough for me. And when someone goes down, I absolutely just have to get to them, you know? I'm like that. I hate people feeling ****ty over dying in a round. So I'm going to try and get them on their feet. Tanky stuff works for that. I love my tanky characters. That havok's medikits, the geth trooper's fortification, the kroguard's... kroganness.

Love it.

So, noap, adepts aren't for me. I think they're one of those classes that you have to be really good to play as. Or really smart.

I got top scorer with Phoenix adept on gold and even on Platinum. The thing is you must be aggressive and use wall a lot since smash can pierce through wall

For Singularity, i set the last evolution to detonate, so when you are in danger, sometimes singularity will exploded and make the enemy caught off guard.

Singularity  + Smash are the best combo, since smash damage seems bigger than Bioexplosion.

and with smash you can do smash-cancel trick by jumping on the other side

just learn how to use him. He is Really strong character and my favorite one (since i have tendency to kill enemy at medium to close range)

except you are long range type player, so can't help further.

 Humans -> Biotic Explosions
Asari -> Stasis, then headshot
Drell -> BE
Justicar -> Team player + BE
Phoenix -> more like the vanguard, anyway...
Fury -> Kill-stealing machine...
Volus -> Team player
Krogan -> Adept tank
Slasher -> Haven't used him yet...
