Ban Wave 6 - Dec. 21st, 2012

Not to mention Bioware only makes a tiny PORTION of the 240 MSP or 1.99 or whatever it is on PSN - Microsoft/Sony take the bigger half.
Also, if you're faithful enough to spend your real money on the game AFTER the $60, AFTER the 2 DLCs, AFTER the 2 story weapon packs, then I find it hard to believe you're going to be a glitcher.

Again, that's pretty drastic...obviously no company in their right mind would ALLOW glitching. As for buying DLCs and all...all the multiplayer DLCs have been free? There are 2 story DLCs that cost points that the glitches we're referring to have no effect on.
When I said "allow" I didn't literally mean to give permission to glitch hence why the word was in double quotes. It was used in the sense of what would happen if Bioware chose not to do anything about the glitching. And it's far from drastic.
And what's your point with regards to the DLCs? The multiplayer DLCs have been free because of the continued support of the community. The single player DLCs is a completely different matter and has no bearing on the subject. The only time I mentioned free DLC in my previous post was on the importance of a company's reputation. Maybe I'm missing something here so do explain...

I'm nearly 100% positive that the huge chunk/majority of people don't spend their real money a huge load on in-game packs, not when it's an option to play for them. Most people you talk to will probably give you the "spend my real money? ain't nobody got time fo dat!" argument, which is common and expected.
Not to mention Bioware only makes a tiny PORTION of the 240 MSP or 1.99 or whatever it is on PSN - Microsoft/Sony take the bigger half.
Yes you are correct that the majority of players do not actually spend any real cash on the game, I never said they did. Hence why I made a rough estimate of 10% in my worked example, which is more than realistic. In fact I'd say that is underestimating the figure and it's rather conservative. Why? Because if you work in this kind of industry, which I do, you would know that there is huge potential for in game (or in app) purchases and a lot of money can be made from it. You'd be surprised by how many players are actually willing to part real cash for virtual values. All you have to do is check out the Apple/Android app store and you'll notice an abundance of companies have adopted this method of making money. Some of their apps are dirt cheap, free in most cases but they have an in app purchase feature to allow the player to progress faster. Trust me, it's worth doing with potential for a lot of money to be made otherwise it wouldn't have caught on so quickly.
Bioware were smart enough to adopt this new system and they've managed do a great job of it too. Just because the majority of players we come across don't spend real cash to purchase packages, doesn't mean they don't exist. Certainly not the majority of players but I guarantee you, based on my personal experience and my knowledge of the industry, there is a significant number of them otherwise it wouldn't be worthwhile.
Anyway, I digress. The point I was making was that the more people who glitch, the less money is spent and thus less revenue for Bioware, which we've already discussed is a bad thing. And yes you are also correct in saying that Sony and Microsoft take a cut, which I had already mentioned (in the form of commission). That's more the reason why banning glitchers is necessary otherwise their income is even less!

Where is the logic behind that? How do you suppose the existing glitchers got the game in the first place? They bought it with cash and guess what, they're now glitching. Some of them admittedly probably received it as a gift but certainly not all of them. And I can guarantee you that there are glitchers out there who have also bought the story DLCs, to think otherwise is naive.
Regardless, the amount of money spent on the game has absolutely no correlation on whether someone will glitch or not. If Bioware suddenly stops banning people for glitching, which sends out a general message to players that they can now glitch freely without repercussions, why wouldn't a player, who has already spent $X not do so? Why would they continue to spend real money on packages when they can achieve the same goal for free by glitching?
And the paying players who don't glitch, whether it's due to a moral high ground or simply because they don't know how to, would they actually continue to play the game? With the huge increase in glitchers, they will more often than not be put in a lobby with at least one glitcher. The game is suddenly no fun to play because it's been ruined by them. A good portion of these paying players will probably quit, that's another revenue stream lost for Bioware.
Let's forget about the existing players who have spent lots of money already, what about new players who would have potentially spent real money? If they realise that glitching is unmonitored and that they can also do it, the likelihood of them spending any money is suddenly nil. Another potential revenue lost for Bioware.
None of the above is "drastic", all of it is realistic, which is why permanently banning glitchers is necessary. I mean, are you seriously telling me that if Bioware does not ban glitchers and let's them run rampant in the game, they won't lose any money whatsoever?

Greetings,
We here at BioWare wanted to let you all know that we remain committed to maintaining a fun and fair environment for our players throughout this holiday season. We have therefore performed investigations, both internal and based on reports we received from our community, and have now banned an additional 678 accounts from Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer. Cheating and exploitive behavior can negatively affect our overall multiplayer community and we will continue our efforts to make Mass Effect 3’s online environment as fun, safe and engaging as possible. We will continue to take decisive action against those who violate our policies.
Information on our cheating policies can be found in our Cheating Compendium & News forum: http://social.biowar...index/13575450/.
If you have been banned and believe it was in error, please contact ME3AccountAdmin@BioWare.com your case will be reviewed.
If you come across suspicious behavior while playing ME3 multiplayer, you can send a report to ME3MPCheaters@BioWare.com.
Big thanks to those in our community that spent your time bringing these cases to our attention, we greatly appreciate your intention to help us maintain a positive online environment for everyone.

I also know of at least 5 people that don't missile glitch personally, but are extremely happy to allow people to missile glitch for them, and go along for the ride. They're just as bad as missile glitchers in my book.

Don't name and shame. It's against the forum rules.
Report them through the email.

Every month and a half or so, there are so called ban waves. Players who have behaved badly usually get banned. In lighter cases, they might just get a credit wipe. There are different tiers of offense. You can read about them in the Cheating compendium, the link is below.
Wish Bioware would move the ban waves up to every few weeks. Joined a game of Platinum in progress tonight and had not one but two jabronies using the missile launcher glitch (videoed and reported). Low N7 and challenge points...probably Christmas noobs.
Friend of mine messaged me a few days ago. He tried playing platinum for a few hours and every game he got in had at least one glitcher. Ridiculous.

According to Bioware, you can turn feedback off but it's false to believe you aren't still sending data. From their cheating FAQ:
Q: Is it true that if players turn there feedback options off, then you wouldn’t get any information on your servers to investigate whether someone has cheated?
A: A lot of the information we use to investigate cheating is stored server side, so turning your “feedback” option to “off” will not actually stop you completely from sending data to the server (Since it is required for you to connect and do most things in the multiplayer environment). Long story short, they’re wrong.

Can someone please give me an example of GREIVING?
I ask because of an experience over the weekend and I wonder if there is somewhere I can take it. I was in a GOLD with 3 other randoms. With the exception of wave 1, one of the players did nothing throughout the 11 waves - literally. Ran to a corner and that was the entiretyof their contribution. So 3 of us worked to extract from a gold and I was pretty pumped about extracting in that condition (actually having randoms work together as a team instead of the usual individual CoD playstyle). So after the match I “avoided player – skill too low” on XBOX because he did nothing to be a part of the successful extraction – but got all the credits and XP. Within seconds I get a nasty text from that player – slanderous, swearing, and advising me he is sending “quit early” rep my way just to get back at me. I shrugged it off, but it was still enough of a buzz kill that I got off ME3 MP. I’ve logged 300+ hours on MP, and that’s a first for me – so I’m wondering if I can take that anywhere or not?

Permanent bans on any game are just too harsh for my taste. Temporary bans, credit wipes, level resets, and the like, I think, are acceptable for not playing the game the way it was "meant" to be played - but banning people should be illegal in itself for taking the $60 for the full game, and only permitting the player to play half the content.
Better than EPIC completely banning your console, I suppose, but still, it's a death sentence in its own way. Punishments are acceptable, but within reason and some form of mercy. If I were to ever get banned for any reason permanently, I'd at least like a partial refund.
You know, technically, you don't own the game, you own a license which has stipulations on its use.
Anyway, luckily I haven't seen any cheaters yet, but I only just started. Hoping I don't have the misfortune of running into them.

If somebody has already got an arrest warrent, then chances are they're not so innocent, due process and all. I'm saying as a cop, as you are implying you are, you don't get to shoot to kill anybody on the street for looking suspicious, and also shoot anyone who looked like was walking along with the said person ... just to be safe. That, is the effect of instant perma bans.
Or was, I should say, as was pointed out, Bioware have been easing up on banning people lately, that's good. Only banning the worst offenders is a good start. I'm sure there's a pretty decent list to start with right here, posted by fellow BSNers on this thread alone.
