Okay ladies and gents, I think it's time for a bit of datamining.

There's apparently something going on with the geth, and it isn't due to a person's skill levels (I don't think so, anyway). I mean, I could pull the stagger vs. stagger-resistance card here, I'm sure that has a big impact, but I think there's more to it than even that.

What I'm hoping for here is a broad base of replies, and honest ones, both positive and negative. So that we can actually see what's going on. And let's not go on the attack if someone believes something different than you, because from their perception it might be true. And attacks are just a vicious cycle that derail threads. Have at it if you really want, but... you know, I'm really curious as to what's going on here.

See, the thing with the geth is that you either love playing against them and find them fun, or you absolutely despise them. There's not a lot of middle ground that I've seen.

So here goes:

What kit do you most commonly use against the geth?:
Do you like fighting the geth (yes/no/ambivalent)?:
What difficulty do you most commonly fight them on?:
Share any details you think are relevant:

So, I'll go first. Just to get my own position out of the way.

What kit do you most commonly use against the geth?: Geth Trooper.
Do you like fighting the geth (yes/no/ambivalent)?: Yes.
What difficulty do you most commonly fight them on?: Silver.
Share any details you think are relevant: I've used the acolyte for shield stripping.

(Oops. Caught a typo and errant linedown.)

Kit: Any

Enjoyment: Yep.

Difficulty: Gold/Platinum

Honestly, Geth are the easiest faction for me, outside of maybe Collectors.

What kit do you most commonly use against the geth?: GI, but that's just because it's my most commonly played kit.

Do you like fighting the geth (yes/no/ambivalent)?: No, not usually. On some classes (stagger resistant ones) they are fine.

What difficulty do you most commonly fight them on?: Gold (Here is why I have a problem with them and you do not).

I know all and see all in datamining. Anyways:

Kit: I jump around a lot, so any.

Enjoyment: Overall no, but I don't hate it so much that I'll leave the game if I random it(which is the only reason I get them). They're okay if playing a stagger resistant character.

Difficulty: Gold.

Side Note: I do not think they are actually hard to play against, just really annoying if you don't have a stagger resistant character.

Kit: Whatever I happen to be playing when they come up (usually play unknown).
Enjoyment: NO. Every time I run against Geth it seems like every combat drone on the map is targeting me. :/
Difficulty: Gold

If it weren't for those damn drones, I'd probably be fine with the Geth.

Anything
No. The only time I'm okay with playing against them is when using a class with Energy Drain or Overload (or at least an insta-cast staggering power (Proxy Mine, Dark Channel, grenades, etc.))
Gold
Just too much stagger juice for one faction; they're oversaturated with it.

I don't play geth unless I meet them in a random game.

Usually something tech - preferably paladin, volus engineer is really good too, if randoms choose geth I can take kroguard.

Gold mostly.

I don't like geth because of lazy game designer decisions - stunlock, stunlock, stunlock.

Kit: On Gold - Engineer types. Paladin, Salarian Engineer, stuff like that. On Silver anything

Enjoyment: Yes and no. Depends on map and character. On Gold mostly no with a few exceptions.

Difficulty: Silver I play Unknown, Gold I usually select enemy. Geth are the only faction I like to choose map on as well.

Notes: While Geth Gold White used to be the standard farming setup for Geth I actually still think this is best map to fight Gold Geth on. The Maze in the back is great soft sover and you can easily use it to your advantage and the geths disadvantage. The advantage of the geth is long range firepower and accuracy combined with short ranged cover busters (pyro, hunter & bomber). If you play in a corridor maze with good escape routes then no problem. So while White isn't about farming Geth anymore they are reasonably fun to play on that map while they can be pretty annoying on most other maps.

There is a massive difference between Gold Geth and Silver Geth because of the makeup of enemies. But I don't think that difference is any different to any of the other factions. There are things about Geth that make them easy, but equally there are things abut Geth that are hard. The hard things are incredibly frustrating. Other factions don't have the same level of frustration with the hard aspects.

Teamwork is also pretty useful, but teamwork is always useful on gold.

Kit: Any of the ones I play (most of them), but I play U/U for exp, so super builds vs a single faction with no versatility are meanless.

Enjoyment: High, until the Rocket trooper triple taps me or the flying hunter shots me, everything else I can handle more or less.

Difficulty: Silver/Gold

I use a geth engineer with the indra is good. The turret attracts geth like a decoy but it can fire back, could be cast often, and does crazy dps. Overload for synthetics and shields. And hunter mode to make your guns/powers of choice even better. This great for hanging back if you are in a lobby with 3 uber players that run around killing everything in sight before you get there or for guerilla tactics for a bad PUG clutch.

Gold, no problems. class depends on the map, though I find Batarian Soldier to be a very powerful kit. He can struggle on more open maps like Hydra though, so I use the Salarian Engineer instead. Geth have no melee units, so he's still running the same old decoy that we came to know and love.

It probably goes without saying that kroguard eats geth alive.

enjoyment: yes, unless my team is horrible, then stunf*** revival stagger f***
diff: gold.

I usually u/u/g but all kits seem viable. their shields are nothing special and their units are predictable and slow

1. What kit do you most commonly use against the geth?:
2. Do you like fighting the geth (yes/no/ambivalent)?:
3. What difficulty do you most commonly fight them on?:
4. Share any details you think are relevant:

1. Drell Infiltrator/ any Male Quarian.
2. No, I do not like fighting them unless I gamble with the unknown/unknown lottery. I just hate the constant stunlock and the tazer from the bombers really make me very mad.
3. Recently I have been running into them a ton on gold and every now and again on silver.
4. I believe that the stunlock is really irritating. Practically every unit in the geth faction can stunlock. Bomber, prime, prime turret, prime combat drone, rocket troopers, hunters. The only two units that can't stun outside of melee range is the trooper and pyro. Then again, pyro doesn't need to stun you as his flames will kill you fast. Combat drones have the most annoying stun angles that they can get you at. I'm really wishing they didn't add that AND the damn bombers. Bombers would have been enough for me.

What kit do you most commonly use against the geth?: Any of the characters I play, I don't specifically select for factions I nearly always play UU.

Do you like fighting the geth (yes/no/ambivalent)?: Not really, stun you can work to avoid, but Geth Bombers strip too many tactics and have annoying bugs (zippy dodge, dodgy hitbox, super fast spam stun & annoying power ignoring ability).

What difficulty do you most commonly fight them on?: Gold

Share any details you think are relevant: I still see more 'cheating' from Geth than any other faction.

1. luck of the draw
2. No
3. Gold
4. Whenever you've killed one of the bastards immediately check your six and a few periodic moments afterwards because chances are they've respawned right behind you around the nearest corner/column.

1. GI (only in U/U games, I don't select Geth normally)
2. On-host they're slightly less aggravating than Cerberus, Off-host they're slightly more aggravating than a root canal. So, I guess that qualifies as No.
3. Gold
4. Lag + Stunlock is just an incredibly bad combination, I don't think Geth can be 'fixed' in their present form by any manner of balance change.

What kit do you most commonly use against the geth?: Whichever. I don't care.
Do you like fighting the geth (yes/no/ambivalent)?: ambivalent. Playing lots of plat games i have to face some either way. I don't dislike fighting gold geth on a sniper-friendly map (hydra, giant), more troublesome in tight maps. I hate plat geth though. There's only so many Stun Primes you can deal with without going mad.
What difficulty do you most commonly fight them on?: Gold. I play U/U/P(so geth once in a while) but tend to leave a straight-up plat geth match right away if i don't see 3 other very-well geared and seemingly experienced people in that lobby.
Share any details you think are relevant: I love having a good long-range weapon against them (Arc Pistol, Paladin, Saber, stabilized Harrier, SRs, even scoped Locust). Gold HS medal guaranteed on so many mooks. Also do not hesitate to missile Primes when there's more than one of them and 1 or 0 squadmate left.
