Obviously the two Wii players are Xeno Blade on their two Wii's and the DS user is engaging in Infinite Space.

You are quite witty. That is called an ad hominen since it lacks argumentative content.
And that ladies and gentlemen is far worse than anything I have posted in this thread.
Check every post, did I resort to name calling? No.
Well done, well done indeed.

This assertition is in correct for the reason that statistics will predict generalised behaviour of the group being studied and to claim that statistical data is not relevant to interpersonal interaction is also incorrect. Many men, aware that divorce men in the majority, will not marry for this very reason AND they are wise to do so because if they do marry, their children are property of the state and the wife and she can extract vast sums of money from him, potentially ruining his life in the process. So statistical data ARE relevant because they can aid people in making important decisions.Zero132132 wrote...
No, ******, what she said was that if you collected a bunch of statistics implying that, it shouldn't mean a damned thing in terms of how you should interact with people, because even if some group is statistically more likely to have certain attributes, assuming that those attributes apply to every single member is really, really, really ****ing stupid.Stardusk wrote...
I did not miss the point. There is a lot of misandry in her post, i.e. men are murderers and rapists and are responsible for all the ills of the world but hey, I don't judge all men like that. Pretty much what she said.
You missed the point completely, and said "well actually, women ARE worse than men." How stupid do you have to be to misread something so completely? Seriously...
2. In any optimization problem, ignoring the specifics of the problem in favor of some more general model is lazy. It might be easier sometimes, but the results will only be optimal for the given problem if the general model and the specific problem coincide, and one should never rely on coincidence. For any large group of people, the variance is high enough that individual attributes mean much, much more than general statistics. No group is homogenous enough to ignore individual, specific information (or experiences) in favor of what's generally known about a demographic. Making decisions based off of statistics is very rarely going to actually be good for the specific situation you're in.
Statistics can be helpful for some problems, but they're not fit for making decisions about individual people. I don't know what ever gave you that idea.
Have you noticed yet that every stat and fact you're quoting happens to be about women, and how they're bad? Why not use other examples, maybe demographic information about school teachers, how most of them had a lower average SAT score than their students, stuff like that? Seriously, the term 'misogynist' fits completely.

I never once stated women are bad. Never once. I do talk about women and present data about them because if you were to live in this world you usually hear about how bad men are and how good women are. Both sexes are flawed, albeit in different ways. I seek to balance the picture and I am concerned for the welfare of men. Why in every OECD country is the male suicide rate roughly 4x that of women's for example?
There is a problem and it is being ignored.

I'm a woman and this whole thread is a gaslighting mess from hell... sort of. (from both xx and xy)
I wonder if I spent all my free time compling empirical evidence that people of color are the scourge of the planet if I would be labeled as a racist and that my branding as a racist would in fact be objective- or would that just wander into the Brave New World realm of PC language? I wonder if my sole purpose were to point out how men have ravaged and pillaged and killed women and children for lesser reasons than righteousness or justice if I would be called a proper misandrist even if all my information were backed up with credible historical accounts and statistics. Does it imbue my pursuit of factual information with a window into my ultimate purpose? Does the pursuit of proving a group to be insidious and inferior and backed by facts make me a vangaurd for humanity? Wise?
We are human beings. While it's good to understand everything we can about ourselves it is important not to lose perspective- we should and can respect each other.
I'm a rape survivor and a molestation survivor. All perpetuated by men. Do I blame all men for their crimes? No. Do I assume all men want to rape children? No.
Also: I don't expect special consideration when I'm gaming. If I'm not even speaking on the mic on XBOX I just play my game and move on with life. I don't care if the people I'm playing with ARE guys or girls because I have an expecation of their level of expertise. I'm curious sure- because I'm interested in people's lives and thoughts- but I'm not going to think "oh this player is a guy- he's probably better!" etc.
Get your heads out of your asses.
Whilst I have sympathy for your experience. Women are statistically more likely to be child abusers than men are. And domestic violence is committed by both in equal measure.Women also murder children more frequently than men do, statistically speaking.
